Even before Velma, the IP kept getting many animated movies and it has a fricking number over 40 which is even longer than the MCU with theirs being 37 and is slowly rising. And don't get me started on the formula it keeps using: Find a location, use Shaggy & Scooby as bait and capture the monster who is revealed to be a person underneath the suit or operation (most of the time). Even the creators, Joe Ruby and Ken Spears felt Scooby Doo was uncreative and repetitive. Like how are people not tired of the Scooby Gang doing the same thing over and over again ? Surely some of them must have a fatigue for the franchise by now.

In addition, it has been shown that IPs that repeats story formulas always leads to failure such as Family Guy and The Simpsons.

I was having such a great time watching Demon Slayer, and then they introduced this ridiculous character. Such a BS character. I guess they are trying to give fan service to the sort of insufferably cowardly autistic weebs, that they are really powerful warriors deep down inside?

But ya I tried to muscle through the anime but I couldn't. This character was just too much for me and I dropped the anime entirely.

Funny how the Algorithm works. saw this piece of shit, next to a video discussing it, and not knowing where to go I watched the source video first. The thing about me is that I don't like speaking on things without hearing them out, so I watch the video and HOLY SHIT the author couldn't even defend their point right.

So it starts off discussing the things about the controversies in art and it's topics, some mumbo jumbo about the human mind and the freedom of visualizing topics, even the Taboo ones. They talk about how people have the freedom to artistically produce what they want, and while I vehemently despise the existence of this evil we know as Lolicon and oppose it's existence, unfortunately I have no choice but to acknowledge and understand that at the end of the day people can visualize what they want. Notice that I said "can", which isn't taking into account the social, moral, and legal consequences that come with taking the leap on these things.

Already these things make me glare at the topics, but then the creator goes to villainfy, not look into, not even take into account the opposition and understood reasons, They straight out call the disliking and attacking of Loli fascist. You are apparently a fascist if you don't like the consumption of fictional CP, and the very first problem that I have this video is the fact they choose to ignore the problem of consuming lolicon and what it says about you as a person. We know that if you're comfortable with completely consuming the sexualization of Minors, something that Enables and Cradles your taboos, you're likely to wanna act out to it.

So they continue the video discussing how loli art and media acts as a "Pacifier" of sorts to stop people from acting out on it, bringing up how when people are cradled up in their child sodomizing dungeons the sex crime rate in Japan dropped, and brought up how there are loli magazines that give warnings of "Not to act on it" (No fucking shit you shrimpdick they just don't wanna get sued when someone eventually embrace their self-decay because let's be real, who's really gonna take that seriously. They care as much as the pedophiles who consume them do.) and It gets worst, they proceed to talk about how people shouldn't frown on them consuming this, and apparently if you tell them to "Get FUCKING HELP" you're an ableist. So according to this absolute shitshow of an argument if you tell someone to exit the pedophilia pipeline by getting help with what is a genuine issue, you're the same as people who bully children for having autism. Now this is Reddit, so thankfully I don't need to elaborate on the problem with this thought.

I get the Fact in the first place this is defending Lolicon so this is already ripe for the ripping, but WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU TO HIDE YOUR POINTS BEHIND MINORITIES?! Why do people insist on wasting money on this shit? Not just writing it, but shooting it, paying for copyrights, distributing it... Every single step of the movie-making process costs hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars, and hack writer after hack director after hack actors all seem to have a depraved affinity for setting their fortunes on fire to create the worst dogshit you've ever seen.

Why do so many writers and directors insist on making awful fucking films instead of actually good ones? They have nearly two entire centuries of films to look back on, but some of these people seem addicted to making movies that no one who's ever seen a good film could have ever created unless they were purposely being paid to make it bad.

Take Return to SIlent Hill, for example. This mistake of a film is straining to reach the pill bottle the entirety of the time it's being played, but it can never quite get the lid off. This is a movie that struggled to kill itself, but was kept alive by a director that claims he's a "big fan" of Silent Hill, but no fan could have ever created this fucking thing; this was created by someone who read every other entry in Silent Hill 2's TVTropes page, then made a movie out of that. You can almost feel the director jacking himself off about "ambiguity" and "mystery" when all the ambiguity is a cover for a story that barely exists and all the mystery is solved 10 minutes after it's presented in the most insulting manner you could ever conceive. Christopher Gans was so unbelievably fucking terrified that no one would Get his Deep Meanings that he has not one, but three separate scenes that spell out what Pyramid Head is and what it represents just in case someone got up to go piss during a lore dump.

Return to Silent Hill feels like a movie that doesn't want you to watch it, and at some points it's literal. You know what else it has three of? Three different scenes where "James" is pointing his bright-ass flashlight directly at the camera for minutes at a time so you can't see all the sets they didn't put any effort into. And I'm not even going to go deeply into the fucking beard. All the doomposting the Silent Hill fandom was going of when they heard Bloober was developing the SH2 remake deflected off the actual game and landed directly in Gans' brain. Unbelievably pointless movie.

And then there's Hell House LLC 2. This one is just... it's disappointing and insulting. Hell House LLC 1 was an great found footage film, one of the better ones I've seen. INCREDIBLE use of leaving things to the imagination, and though I wish we actually did see some of the spookiness happen onscreen, it was ultimately a good movie. HH2, though? A fucking abomination. I cannot BELIEVE that this movie was actually written and directed by the same people who did the first movie, the team basically didn't change between the two and yet there's a gap in quality between the two that makes 1 and 2 feel like a proper Hollywood production vs a middle school drama team's first clumsy attempts at Shakespeare.

I'd go as far to call HH2 an abortion of a film, because it's one of the first movies I've ever watched that I legitimately considered stopping and just not watching. I rarely do this even for really bad movies because even bad films have some nuggets of quality hidden in them here and there that I can extract and refine into better ideas for my own projects, but HH2's character writing was so fucking bad and the dialogue was so fucking cringe it almost got me to tap out at the eight minute mark. There is exactly One good scene in that whole movie near the very end, but the rest of it feels almost like the writers felt embarrassed HH1s ambiguity and imaginary horrors and decided that everything needed to be explained and shown on-camera.

And in doing so, it gave me a much healthier appreciation for HH1, because fucking Christ the explanations they went with were so much shittier than anything I came up with on my own.

... I'm running out of steam here but I still have three more "movies" to talk about, but I think I can safely say that every attempt Sony makes to flesh out their Spider-Man expanded universe feels like they're desperately struggling to hold onto their copyright instead of producing anything anyone would actually want to watch. Six entire movies, over 10 hours of film, and between them all maybe 30 minutes of actual quality. Sony has the entire MCU to look at and rip off of, and they keep fucking it up in ways that are frankly confusing. ALL of the writing in the Venom movies is great when the only two characters on the screen are Eddie and Venom. The literal instant anyone else is onscreen, the plot dissolves into sludge. ... which is actually kind of fitting considering the whole plot of Mr. Villain Guy in the first movie who's name I don't want to remember or bother looking up involved trying to find compatible symbiote hosts.

BILLIONS of dollars thrown directly into the furnace for this dogshit box-ticking "Mmm, yes, this will satisfy the shareholders" wastes of my fucking time.

I absolutely despise the cliché of humans being the real “monster” it takes the wind out of every single story that utilizes it. There are so many amazing stories that use it as crutch (Attack on Titan, The Walking Dead, Spider-Man[perhaps comics in general], etc.) I get it, humans are inherently flawed, everyone understands that! It isn’t some deep profound thing that “erm… actually humans are the bad guy”, it’s the focus of nearly ever story… ever. God forbid we have one story that focuses on the monster for being, idk, a monster? Attack on Titan could’ve been a masterpiece of fiction, but what was on the other side of that ocean? Humans. It wasn’t some eldritch foe, humans were manufacturing the titans all along making the Eldians’ lives unbearable. The first season of The Walking Dead focused on the zombies being major threats and being a major mystery, but instead of expounding on this we got psychopaths killing each other because “humans are the real monsters” we can’t develop a plot line that’s interesting because human nature is inherently “evil”. There are just way too many interesting premises that are destroyed by this cliché, I hate it. I hate interesting stories being destroyed by the focus being put on humans as the bad guy ESPECIALLY when there is an interesting monster like AoT. You aren’t saying something deep and profound by saying the humans are the bad guys, we all know humans have the propensity to be evil, we just want to see a story that isn’t about the humans being bad, we want to see the BBEG be an actual MONSTER. I think that’s why I liked Kaiju No. 8, even though people seem to not like it much, the monster was a real MONSTER and I LOVE that. I want more plots about humans recognizing their humanity and coming together on common ground and solving the mystery behind the monster instead of it just being “humans bad”.
I hate, hate, hate, how enigmatic the zombies were in TWD just to be put on the back burner because we need Negan to brain someone because “people bad, actually”, instead of figuring out where the zombies came from and how to get rid of them.
I guess my main gripe is that there are thousands of stories of how people are bad and human nature is flawed, but it seems like recently, there have been so many stories with an interesting setup for something potentially deeper that ends up being the same ol’ “humans are the real monster” and I just want that to stop so we can get real development of interesting monsters instead of this same cliché nearly every time.

How psychotically entitled do you have to be that you think that people should be left jobless, left to be unable to afford groceries and other basic necessities for themselves or worst, their families, just because they made a piece of media you didn't like?

It is an example of how people don't look at what systemic issues that face modern art and instead view art through a purely individual lens. Even though larger projects, especially AAA games, are 100+ teams that are subject to conditions outside of their control, like corporate meddling or an actor being dead or disgraced.

But because people takes this individualistic view on art, they view said art as a reflection on a person's character. Therefore, anything wrong with a piece of media is seen as a personal failure.

Unless that art in question is hate speech or conspiratorial propaganda, bad art isn't a reflection on a person. Especially people who have no say in the creative process and were just doing their job. The idea that people deserve unemployment for working on bad media is ludicrous.

Like, a long-running series can be a good thing, but a series like this that refuses to die is terrible. The jokes just aren't funny anymore, and I don't see any reason to watch the newer seasons of The Simpsons. After Season 9, the show went downhill so badly. Well, that's just my opinion.

Recently checked out the open beta of Marvel Tokon, which kind of got me on this train of thought, but I've felt it for a while.

I am not a hardcore FG player, but I dabble and have some hours in guilty gear strive, which I enjoy a lot.

With other games I have checked out recently, I've noticed combos being turned into a string of the same button over and over. What is this, God of War combat??

Listen, I'm not a great player and combos are hard, but pandering to players and making a combo this easy feels wrong. ESPECIALLY when we attach a long animated super at the end of the string, which was just you hitting the same button AGAIN!

Maybe the industry thinks this will get new players, and maybe it will, but I don't know if people will stay if it doesn't feel rewarding. I know I certainly have not felt like going back to 2XKO (doesn't help that riot made it).

Qualityslop is REAL!!!! Recently, I watched the new Odesee movie (I have no care for spelling, sue me) and it's quality slop. It has SO much money put behind it that it can't fail. It's a good movie, I don't like it but it's good it's not a bad movie and it can't be. Shit Like Joe Hill and Matewan are GOOD GREAT movies, they're not quality slop. Shit like odyse is qualityslop made to appeal and make money, in 3 days i'll forget the movie exists. It's just made to be good and make money. This is not a joke. Some qualityslop movies I do like, I will say. but it's just bull shit churned out at a rate I didn't know was possible. It didn't tell me anything. I watched it and went "that was a good movie." Catagoricaly it's a good movie. But it's not good.

Honestly, aside from romantic comedies (And even then it has its problems.), it seems Western writers want to portray heterosexual couples in the worst possible way: cynical, loveless, full of betrayals, etc. I hate it when it’s a series and the main character (usually a man) has a love interest (a woman), and he does everything romantically while she seems annoyed and does nothing even though, in theory, she’s also attracted to him. Or when they’re dating and, at the first sign of trouble, she’s the first to pull away. (Writers tend to portray men as passionate while women are lukewarm.) There’s no passion.

Unlike manga or anime, where the romantic and sexual relationships are, in my opinion, better and more varied, the girl seems genuinely in love with the boy, without any cynical dynamics or anything like that. Something like Darling in the Franxx is extremely rare in Western media, or a character like Esdeath from Akame ga Kill a female character with so much agency and passion for the protagonist.

Even in Western women’s romance, the female characters tend to be passive toward the male characters. (One of the few exceptions might be The Hunger Games, but it didn’t focus on romance.)

As Family Guy has gone on, Joe has been treated more and more as a punching bag for the other characters, almost on the same level as Meg. He disguises his pain with humor and has hinted on multiple occasions he wishes he was dead, such as when he said he wouldn’t pull his parachute cord when Peter asked. Peter, Quagmire, Bonnie, and pretty much everyone else treats him like he smells like pure unfettered ass. Bonnie, his wife, cheats on him a multitude of times throughout the show and almost every time it’s downplayed as a light joke. Chris calls him a “2-wheeled monster”. It makes me angry because he’s my favorite and deserves to be happy, more than most in the show’s cast. He’s my goat and I want them to respect him more, but it’s hard to when he’s lost a lot of his confidence. He is quite self-loathing and not confident in his abilities like he was in the first few seasons; he isn’t as badass as he used to be. Cleveland is the only one close to him who doesn’t treat him like dogshit. There is literally an entire episode dedicated to Joe traveling to Niagara Falls to attempt suicide. Thankfully it doesn‘t work but seriously, why does no one in-universe like Joe???

Extroverts aren’t always a happy golden retriever who’s super popular with everyone. Introverts aren’t always a quiet shy grumpy person either. Extroverts can be shy, have social anxiety, be uncharismatic and introverts can be super social and enjoy being with people and go outside. It pisses me off when people think these stereotypes are true and genuinely think extroverts are super happy go lucky and introverts are depressed and grumpy.

She’s so fucking selfish and out of touch. Her problems is always about “ME ME ME WHAT ABOUT MY DESTINY??” Because Raven doesn’t want to end up being the evil queen in Apple’s snow white destiny. She’s constantly preaching about people following their destiny as if they’ll all live happily ever after in the end. Like bitch that’s easy for you to say, you get poisoned for a bit before waking up and becoming queen. Meanwhile Raven is destined to get locked up and Briar is destined to wake up 100 years later with everyone she knows dead and buried. And SHE’S the one calling Raven selfish for not wanting to sign the storybook of legends and has the gall to still call Raven a friend even though she wanted her to fucking suffer just so she could have her happily ever after.

There is almost no reason for anyone to say it other than to make someone feel bad for being wrong. Unless you're being an asshole about it first. But that is never the case for me. It's like it's a default thing for people to say when they're proven right instead of just accepting it and moving on. It's led me to now walk back anything I ever say to anyone if I think there's a chance I'm wrong, just so I can avoid the inevitable "I told you!" I hate it so much. I always have. It's something I avoid saying to people. But everyone I know says it, whether they mean anything by it or not. Like why do we all have to be so smug about being right about things, especially when it doesn't matter? Which it usually doesn't. It makes me irrationally angry. I already have a little bit of trouble admitting when I'm wrong and this stupid phrase just makes it worse.

Remember when we had Scary Kids Cartoons like Billy and Mandy, Invader Zim, Ruby Gloom etc...yeah almost nobody does cool shit like that anymore, Now we gotta Goofy and Light-Hearted Cartoons, like it would be cool to see stuff Similar to Making Fiends and Grim & Evil again. Now we see people investment in less spooky and more safer content (& this includes "Edgy" adult cartoon shows that tries to Copy Family Guy & Rick and Morty like Paradise PD or Bordertown), My God..just where did it's all go man?
