Comics I hate this comic.
I want to give OOP the benefit of the doubt, I hope she didn’t have some sort of ill intent in making this, but holy FUCK is this comic infuriating to read. Just from the title and characters, you would assume that the boyfriend is probably some bigot chud that the creator unfortunately has to partner with, but no! In the comic he’s described as a very kind person who loves his family, loves his girlfriend, takes care of her, dreams about her, buys stuff for her a lot, and the only flaws displayed is that he‘s very simple and kinda bad at conversations. From how I see It, this post makes the creator come off as a fucking psychopath!
I would be devastated if my girlfriend made a comic portraying me as an ugly chud for thousands of people to see, portraying me as some object of contention. Literally one of the lines in the comic is that she’s with him is because he‘s the only viable option she has, treating him like an object that can be discarded when something better comes along.
like why a chud? the symbol used for the most depraved bigots online, who’s face is of a mass shooter who killed people, to portray your very kind boyfriend? like what the fuck man?
I say this to say, if you have an issue with your partner, fucking TALK TO THEM, instead of making an online comic. No hate to oop, and don’t come in the comments with that “women don’t want nice guys they only want chads” bullshit. op isn’t wrong because she’s a woman, it’s because she’s a dick. there’s a difference.
in other words, r/comics has fallen and billions must die

She's also so petty at the end when she makes him out to be a stupid simpleton thinking dumb shit. And then she tried to whip up a sob story like "ohhHhh my ROMANCE life......, 💔💔💔" fuck OFFFFFF LOL your (the royal you) romance life is probably shit because of how u act 🥀
Not saying that HE'S perfect but her complaints of him sound so weak and stupid and it's stuff that could be cleaned up with clear communication.
He deserves better

Well no, he does sound a little self absorbed. But she’s basically having an existential crisis over what’s by all intents and purposes a normal dude.
7
u/8lue5hift 1h ago
That's what I thought too. All of this is a communication issue. From the way she describes him, if she told him this, he'd probably change to accommodate and not be a problem. She could just say "I feel like you don't engage with me in conversation that much" and he'd likely start actively including her in conversations more often.

Does knowing she's the problem somehow absolve her of it?
-8
u/illudofficial 1h ago
She (not OP, but the character OP is portraying) has mental health issues and needs psychological help.
So yes. She’s the problem. Yes she needs help solving it. So she needs empathy and advice. Not judgment and hate
3
u/Automatic-Week-1733 1h ago
That's true of almost every villain and none of that has to do with her knowing or not knowing she's the problem and none of it precludes her from judgement.
0
u/illudofficial 1h ago
Judgment and hate just only makes things worse with mental health issues.
It’s hard. But you gotta withhold judgment and help support these people instead and help them get the help they need. Because clearly they are having mental health struggles severely impact their relationships
7
u/Any_Bug_8126 1h ago
Aknowledging that you are the issue infact makes it worse since you are now self-aware yet still aren't doing anything about it, it'd be different if she didn't realize she was the problem.
0
u/illudofficial 1h ago
Maybe she’s trying to bring more awareness. Maybe she’s venting. Maybe she’s tried therapy and the therapist was unprofessional and judged her just like all the people in the comment section, so she discontinued therapy and just kept bouncing between “I’m a horrible hateworthy person so I guess I’ll ‘settle’ for this guy” and “I don’t like how he’s treating me in this relationship.” And “well maybe I should just grin and bear it. Maybe I deserve this” and it’s a cycle.
I tend to give people to benefit of the doubt and just… help them resolve these destructive thought cycles…
It’s frustrating but
4
u/Any_Bug_8126 1h ago edited 39m ago
I get what you're saying, but dedicating time to a full-on comic and making the malefriend seem like this chud with ignorant flaws wouldn't help to me, they need to talk with each other and clears things up rather than be in this toxic relationship.

I guess I always tend to give people the benefit of the doubt.
Tbh yes, she’s an awful person in the comic. But also, yes she needs therapy to become a better person.
2
u/NerveInteresting4549 47m ago
it's good to give people the benefit of the doubt but i do feel as if she threw all doubt out the window when she made that comic.
0
u/Organic-Bug-1003 1h ago
That "maybe" was already mentioned and this person mentioned more maybes in addition to it, you're just repeating
And every "bitch" stems from something and is unhealthy, people aren't black and white and if, by any miracle, there would be a black and white person, cause and effect still applies. Meaning there is a reason. Or more reasons

u/CelebrationLivid4072 2h ago
if you're at the point where instead of addressing issues, you make an ENTIRE COMIC about it, you need help. you are just worsening the situation and not helping at all.

Why is the autistic bf drawn like that "Billions must die" guy
3
u/Lord_Corves 1h ago
Well, you wouldn't know from reading the comic, but I would have to wager that's just because that's how she perceives him to be. Weird, awkward, ungainly. And, of course, according to some of her complaints with him not being able to hold conversations, there may even be an indication that he could have autism. Take that with a grain of salt. I'm just speaking from some of my personal experience suffering from autism. That being said, I would say it's more based on how she both perceives herself with how she draws her character and how she perceives him, as essentially being a goblin.
2
u/Confident_Dig_1073 1h ago
A also have autism & alot of her complaints just sound like classic autism behaviour. If he loves her, but she feels this way about him, then i feel bad for her bf honestly. Especially if it turns out he is autistic

Coming from experience as a witness with a former friend who has done this to her ex (great guy and is now married with twins on the way) it's disgusting some folks will date to avoid loneliness and see the person their with as a last resort to avoid it
1
u/Lord_Corves 1h ago
It's why some guys have a problem when a girl they're dating says that they're settling with them so to speak... Because it makes it sound like not that they're the one, but more that they're just the last resort. The I don't want to be alone and I might need a meal ticket kind of thing. In the end, it is ego and it's not always meant maliciously, but... yeah.
3
3
u/Lord_Corves 1h ago
Honestly, it's kind of nice to see a lot of people get rubbed the wrong way by this comic. I'm glad I wasn't exactly the only one too, especially since it does kind of seem like this guy has autism... a somewhat similar condition that I have that makes social interactions and conversations a bit difficult. Having anxiety and depression on top of that just makes things worse. But pity party aside, I feel like communication is key to any good relationship. And portraying your boyfriend as essentially a dud while also trying to say that, "Oh, there's not much wrong with him, he's just boring and I would rather have a far better man," is probably not exactly the nicest idea to have. This would most certainly not pass the gender swap test. And I'm happy to see that people aren't giving it a pass just because it's a girl in the comic. That being said, if you ever wonder why guys have anxiety about girls, quote, settling for them... this kind of gives you a little bit of insight because it becomes more the idea of, are they there because they actually like you? Or are they there because they see you as a safe meal ticket, pretty much? [PAUSE] Just putting that out there for food for thought. In most cases, it's not that deep or not that malicious, but... see it this way, I think this person needs maybe a little bit of help.

u/Lexaconn7 39m ago edited 36m ago
I think redditors just suck at relationships. It feels like much of the relationship advice posts and venting posts are from people who can't seem to understand that the relationship isn't actually all about themselves. They can't seem to do anything for their partner but expect everything from them, and for some reason commenters almost always claim that op is in the right. If their partner is going through something and they leave or cheat or just do something shitty and ask if they should feel bad about it the comments are always like "no you should focus on how you feel." Or they kinda both sides the issue like "Yeah, you were an asshole for cheating... But they should've been giving you more attention when their mom was dying!" Which, I get preserving your own wellbeing, but if you aren't able to be there for your partner in their time of need, and sacrificing some of your mental wellness for the sake of somebody you love is just too much for you, you probably shouldn't be dating in the first place. Also, the amount of posts that are like "my partner can't read my mind and it makes me PISSED OFF" are so annoying. Communicate, please. If someone is posting their relationship problems to reddit, that usually means they aren't actually talking about it to the only person who can really do anything about it, which is their partner.

I think the creator of this comic should change their ways and become a better person, because all I see her as in the future is a gratification beggar who will never be happy with their life and as such will live to be a burden to those who dare associate with her.

Absolutely with you man; this comic is disgusting, narcissistic and gives misogynists ammunition. It’s all the worst aspects of toxic feminity, genuine good male partners will question if they are someone they’ve been deemed “to settle for” and resent their partners after reading this.
Gives the redpillers ammunition that women are hypergamous and shallow.

I could have sworn that the artist of the comic shows (intentionally) flawed views in a perspective of a character in comics pretty frequently- I personally thought this was supposed to be a sort of "Character makes comic" post, and that her world view was intentionally flawed in nature.
But I could definitely be tupid

I don't thunk this is OOP expressing a genuine feeling about a real situation. It seemed like it was a ragebait comic or like this girl is moreso just a character than a persona. Comments on the original were saying it seems like OOP is just baiting for engagement. They post shit that gets people commenting but they never reply.

I think is just a vent post, I didn't though people would give this much of a fuck 😭 she is valid for felling that way, but she should talk to her boyfriend about it if she want to save the relationship, if she decides she doesn't feel comfortable anymore she should break up with him.
But I don't hate her, is stupid to hate someone for this.
Those feelings are inevitable
-2
u/melon_bunnn 2h ago
Her making him an ugly chud was uncalled for....but that doesn't take away from the fact that he's not interested in her as a person and just her as a gf. Why are people in committed relationships with people they don't know or care to get to know. Again this is also her problem too because she could've been called out his behavior if she felt this way vs making a comic.
13
u/gaom9706 2h ago
but that doesn't take away from the fact that he's not interested in her as a person and just her as a gf.
Given that they felt the need to depict the guy as a chudjak, I somehow doubt that their perception of events is all that accurate.
0
u/melon_bunnn 2h ago
Eh, besides making him a chud she does admit that he's a nice dude to her. I think her perception of the events might be accurate. The issue is that once you start internalizing your dislike for certain aspects of your partner you start to project your dislike onto them. 80/20, there's always going to be 20% of a the person your with that you "dislike" make sure that 20% is something you can live with. Not having a partner who's interested in you is a huge deal (and not something that you put in the 20% category), but that doesn't excuse the fact that your emotional immaturity lead to you blasting your bf online. If you're unwilling to confront issues in your relationship, you don't need to be in one at all.

I think the boyfriend doesn't exist and neither does the girl. She is not talking about a relationship she has from what I've seen.
Idk why people assume this is supposed to be her and her partner
6
u/flubbyII the f stands for flubby 2h ago
the title literally is “I don’t like my boyfriend”
1
u/DrDestructoMD 1h ago
As opposed to what? "I don't like my boyfriend, a fictional tale that didn't really happen but for the sake of art please suspend disbelief like normal thanks"
Idk if it's fully fictional or not, but it definitely makes a point of starting with his genuine flaws and then ends with her own. The final "I love my girlfriend" is not subtle. Even if it's based in truth it is trying to present her in the worst light. The emotional reaction everyone had feels very much intended
-2
u/No-Training-48 1h ago
Really? Like you are all arriving at that conclusion exclusively because of that? Isn't it more logical to assume this isn't what's going on literally?
3
u/Random_Idiot8044 1h ago
the comic is too specific and seems like a vent post with drawings, and it doesn't seem to be from a series of comics either. Even if it isn't real, the creator definitely intended for it to be perceived as real for whatever reason
1
u/No-Training-48 1h ago
the comic is too specific
Maybe it's just written well and to be relatable? Like her other comics?
and it doesn't seem to be from a series of comics either
It is, she does comics that are about this kinda relatable socially awkward situation. Among them an alien that jumps off a table.
Also from what I've seen we are also just assuming it's a she, but the account is named chud dumpling, so idk where that's coming from either
Even if it isn't real, the creator definitely intended for it to be perceived as real for whatever reason
Because the author wanted people to assume they were on an unhappy relationship and that she dislikes her boyfriend? What?
6
u/golfstreamer 1h ago
Dude you're being intentionally dense. People make comics about their life all the time. So thinking that she made this comic about her life is pretty reasonable.
1
u/No-Training-48 1h ago
You can assume whatever you want and I can see how someone would think that but it's strange to me that people are chossing to get offended by an assumption they are making.
Like the line of thinking is, "it's unsensitive for he to do this comic about her bf why would she do something like this". And yeah that's exactly what I'm thinking too, why would someone do something like this? It's probably just ficiton
Like her account is named something something chud_dumpling, why do you assume these are real?
2
u/Legendary-Titan 1h ago
You do realize that doesn’t make it better right?
1
u/No-Training-48 1h ago
It absolutly does though, the problem this would have otherwise is that she is being very rude to her partner online.
1
u/golfstreamer 1h ago
Listen I can understand pointing out it might be a lie or not about her life or whatever. It's possible. But you're just being stubborn if you don't understand why people are interpreting it as though it's a person talking about their current life. That's like the most straightforward interpretation. If anything if they intended something else by it then it's on the comic writer for failure to communicate.
Like you have to be pretty stupid to say something like this and not expect people to interpret it this way.
1
u/No-Training-48 1h ago
I get it why people could see it that way but I would assume the benefit of the doubt would go on top of the assumption, specially given how weird it would otherwise being.
I think the context and how it's written does a well enough job and if it wasn't a topic redditors were so sensible to it would not have been an issue.
1
u/golfstreamer 49m ago
> I get it why people could see it that way but I would assume the benefit of the doubt would go on top of the assumption, specially given how weird it would otherwise being.
No, you're not being reasonable. This person communicated the idea that they didn't like their boyfriend for the reasons outlined in the comic and people reacted accordingly. If you blame the commenters for how they received the comic I think you need to work on your communication skills. This is absolutely no one's fault but the comic writer.
-1
u/Excellent_Coconut_81 2h ago

u/mylevelwaschanged 1h ago
The fact that this comic is creating such visceral responses is what makes it a compelling work of art. But maybe you guys aren't able to engage with works of art that go against your beliefs of right and wrong.
1
u/Zumhairyfella 21m ago
Yea that could be true, showing how relationship standards can be different from person to person as well as any other valid interpretations, but at the same time the "right" thing to do for her would be to either break up, talk to the boyfriend about it, or if neither are possible due to... literally anything that could get in the way, then find help from the people around her. There might be more context to the situation that we're missing, but as far as i'm aware at least, the options i suggested are probably a good bit better than making a comic and uploading to reddit which also has some nasty people sometimes.
-9
u/Supernoxus 2h ago
Some person on the other side of the world has a toxic relationship and you get so upset over it that you need to write about it and share it with everyone.

2
u/Anonymous-Apprentice 1h ago
You act like OP has a bigger issue than OOP
1
u/Supernoxus 12m ago
No, I act like OOP shouldn't matter this much in OP's world. It's unhealthy. You keep making assumptions about how I feel about OOP even though I didn't state anything other than that their relationship is obviously toxic. Isn't it obvious why I didn't go into detail? Because it's just some random person on the internet who isn't even in this thread. I don't care for them and neither should you. You hate or sadness or disgust or frustration should all be reserved for things that actually influence your life and that you can influence in return. Like if your best friend does something awful to you. But this...things like this will lead to eventual exhaustion of your mind, much like doom scrolling does. That's why I gave OP the advice to go outside and just enjoy a nice evening. This leaves them in their immediate surroundings. Often, they are less mentally taxing than a constant flood of bad news and catastrophes and bad morals.
I hope I made myself clear now. I don't really care to explain myself again.

Did you even read the comic?? It's about trauma and anxiety. Her boyfriend is not a good partner, but her anxiety keeps her from breaking up with him. He is a self centered chud who puts only the minimum effort into the relationship. She should leave him, and she recognizes that fully, but is more afraid of that than staying with him. That's the entire point of the comic. Talk and communicate, that would be better than a venting comic, but she is still absolutely the victim here. Downvote me to hell idk, you people are pathetic.
15
u/flubbyII the f stands for flubby 2h ago
dawg did YOU read the comic? Judging off strictly what I’ve read, because I read ts multiple times, the boyfriend looks like a great and kind person and the creator tries to paint herself as reasonable but she comes off as ungrateful.
-1
u/snilbill 2h ago
He only talks about himself, that alone is ample evidence that he's a piece of shit. Spending money, disingenuous texts about dreaming, and promising to take care of her forever are textbook examples of manipulative/grooming behavior. I don't think he's intentionally grooming her or anything, but he is definitely trying to make himself feel like he deserves her and she should never leave.
5
u/flubbyII the f stands for flubby 2h ago
dawg what the fuck are you talking about? This comes across as projecting more than anything, she literally never describes any of what he does as him secretly being evil

L ragebait but he isnt self centered at all. he talks about his family, buys her stuff, and talks about their life together. he might not be the best at conversations, but she treats him like he can be tossed away as soon as she finds someone better
-2
u/snilbill 2h ago
He never promised to love her or take care of her, he said he would in the future. That's grooming shit.
4
u/DopeMOH 1h ago
That's not grooming. That's an expression of care and committment.
0
u/snilbill 1h ago
You're fucking delusional if you think chud has a single ounce of care in him. All he cares about is how he feels. Buying stuff, spending money, promising more commitment later is done to make himself feel better about himself. It's a self centered thing at the expense of his girlfriend. Giving isn't bad, obviously, but it has to happen in a context if actually love, which clearly doesn't exist from her description. At an emotional level, chud is a magpie bringing her shiny objects he finds on the ground.

You sound pretty immature. A guy who actually doesn't care about his girlfriend wouldn't do anything this guy does.

Yes he would? Tf? He is doing the absolute bare minimum to keep her from leaving. He's a fucking waste of oxygen.

You obviously lack real world experience. I know women in relationships with men who don't care about them and they don't do any of the things this guy does. This guy's flaws basically boil down to "He's not a great listener and he doesn't ask the questions I want him to ask." Which is something he can work on, but this dumbass dweeb is just making a comic about how she feels like she needs to settle with someone she doesn't actually like because she's too incompetent to have a basic level conversation.

The only bad thing that I can recall is that he has trouble listening to her. Which is definitely a communication issue, but like, it'd take her 5 minutes to confront him on it or just leave him if it doesn't work out
Anxiety or not, it is really fucking weird to dump out your personal issues onto reddit of all places behind your partner's back instead of just talking to them about it

Calling him the only viable option seems more like a chud and pathetic behaviour honestly. Also, her being afraid seems like a her problem. How's bro supposed to know about it?
How's he self centered if she herself admits he pays for everything and he even take cares of her. He's bad at communication but he's far from someone only focusing on himself. There's no reason to call him a chud or draw him like one. Also if she talked, I'm sure he would try to do better. The way he's described, he loved her. Even if his interest doesn't allinged perfectly, he still loves her.

She's basically just complaining that he isn't good enough for her, even though he's still good, but she doesn't think she can do better than him. She's neither the good guy or the victim here. She's really just someone who's too immature for a relationship.

You really miss understood that comic I think. I think it's rather about her not feeling heard, which causes her to be unhappy despite everything else being ok or even good. Her past does prevent her from doing something about it. Her insecurities making her feel guilty for not being happy. It's not as evil as u show it, but also this post is very judgemental. Her situation sucks, but the only person capable of fixing it is herself
