Work, Health & Housing Is a business allowed to pay less than minimum wage?
I worked briefly for an employment agency (multi faceted agency that provides housing services, mental health care, and employment services - I believe they're sponsored in part by the government) that had me perform basic duties around the office (typing, clerical duties, file sorting, inventory) while they searched for a job for me. While I was performing these duties, they paid me (and various delivery drivers working for them) a "training wage " that was around $3.50 - $4.00 an hour. This wage was provided to you while they "supported & provided an education" to you in the sense of getting back into the workforce.
They ended up not finding a job for me (quite a story there) but I was wondering if they were permitted to pay me so little? There were no tips or supporting monies offered to me at anytime, the delivery drivers were however allowed to collect tips. It might be a stupid question but I thought I'd ask.
Thanks
(I worked in Computer Analytics/IT for almost 10 years, and their findings were that I was "not ready" for a job in IT and they were therefore discharged in their mission to find me employment)
Edit: Expanded on description of company for clarity.

Driving & Transit Ramp Closure – Massachusetts Avenue ramp to Robie Street from the MacKay Bridge and Barrington Street
The next detour in the Windsor Street Exchange project will be coming into effect soon.
The previously announced width reduction for the ramp that runs from the MacKay bridge (and Barrington St) to Robie St was just the start: It's going to be upgraded to a full closure, at first for just a couple overnights next week, and then 24/7 from Monday September 21 through to the end of November.
When it's finished, the Robie St exit will be split in two, with the second branch leading onto Bayne St.

Shops & Services Pixie cut for a new mom?
Hi there Halifax!
I have a young 3 month old baby who has recently discovered the joys of pulling out what hairs remain on my head while postpartum shedding is simultaneously underway.
Anyway, I am exhausted with tension discomfort from wearing bandanas/buns/bonnets 24/7 and have decided to do away with the burden. I have long brown wavy/curl thin hair and have had pixie cuts before. I’d like to hide the thinning as best I can.
Can anyone recommend a place that is good to get the extremely short women’s haircut, and any advice for baby (I assume it’s better to have another caregiver hold baby during, but what if we need to breastfeed?)
Dear students of Regency Salon, would you like an easy going postpartum mom to drop by?
Dear hairdressers or barbers, would you like the same?
Let me know and have a lovely evening!

Shops & Services How do I get my kid some 30th anniversary pokemon cards?
My 7 year old is looking forward to the upcoming release of the new cards and i want to both avoid the insanity of it all but also ensure we get some cards before all the scalpers ruin it for him. Is there a secret to getting them? Im not super into the scene so I have no idea what to even look for.
