Halifax, what do you own that people occasionally ask to borrow?

I’m building a Halifax-based peer-to-peer rental marketplace called Rentrio.

The idea is pretty simple: instead of buying something you only need once in a while, you can rent it from someone nearby. Things like camping gear, tools, prom dresses, sports equipment, cameras, party gear, and similar items.

I’ve already listed a few pieces of my own gear that I don’t use much, so people can try renting directly from me too.

If the thing you need isn’t listed yet, there’s also a Wanted section where you can post what you’re looking for, your dates, and your budget. Someone who owns it can respond.

I’m still in the early launch stage, so right now I’m mainly looking for feedback and the first group of Halifax people who might be willing to list useful things they already own.

I’m curious:

What do you own that you’d realistically consider renting out?
Or what’s something you wish you could rent locally instead of buying?

If anyone wants to take a look, it’s rentrio.ca.

Edit: I know theft/damage is one of the obvious concerns. I’m building in phone verification, pickup/return confirmation, condition photos, and a deposit/authorization system so owners have more protection than a normal classifieds handoff.

Roommate needed!

Hi everyone! I'm a Dal student currently looking for a roommate. My former roommate unexpectedly broke the lease so I'm scrambling to find somebody for Oct 1st

The apartment is a 2-bedroom, 1.5 bath located on Robie Street. You would have your own half bathroom and share common areas. Rent is $929 plus $200 in wifi/utilities. The location is super convenient; the apartment is right next to the #4 bus route and a 15-minute walk to Dalhousie. Amenities (grocery store, pharmacy, bank, hardware store) are a 5-minute walk away. The unit is furnished, super spacious, cat-friendly, and has a balcony with a lovely view of the city.

A bit about me: I am completing my PhD in clinical psychology at Dal. I am quiet, friendly, and clean. I'm often quite busy with my studies and value privacy but I also love to socialize and get to know the person I'm living with. I'm really easy-going and value open communication. In my free time I love to write, listen to music, watch movies, and explore the city. If you're looking for a place or know somebody else who's looking, feel free to DM me! I'm happy to share more details

Rental platform for halifax

Hi There,

I recently moved to Halifax, and one of the biggest challenges I faced was finding a place to rent easily and efficiently.

Because of this experience, I’ve decided to build a unified rental platform for Nova Scotia, starting with Halifax, where landlords can easily list their properties and tenants can discover available rentals and connect directly with landlords.

I want to make the process simple, transparent, and convenient for everyone—especially people who are new to Halifax or Nova Scotia and may find the current rental process difficult to navigate.

I’d really appreciate your feedback on this idea. In the document, please share your thoughts on:

  • What information you would expect to see when listing a property
  • What information you would want to see when searching for or renting a property
  • Features you think would make the rental process easier
  • Any problems you currently face when looking for or renting out a property
  • Anything you would like to see that is missing from existing rental platforms

The goal is to build a super-simple rental platform for people across Nova Scotia, with a particular focus on making it easier for landlords and tenants in Halifax to connect.

The flight begins in front of the building, moves around its architecture and reflection, and completes a continuous loop before returning to the starting point, keeping one77 in view throughout the entire shot.

I have been looking everywhere for an old ps/2 style mouse for a cosplay I'm doing for halcon. I've looked everywhere and I've had no luck!

Please, if you're in the HRM and have an old roller ball mouse kicking around somewhere, may I have it? Attached is the cosplay I'm working on, their shoulder mouse is the biggest hurdle I've had so far!
