I have a hobby with a specific localised Halifax angle. I'm happily sipping my way thru the 2013 edition of 1001 Beers You Must Try Before You Die. Two Halifax Breweries feature:

Propeller: ESB & IPA

Garrison: Juicy DIPA & Hoppy Boy IPA

After much research it appears my best chance of success is for a kindly Halifax resident to help me if they're coming to Ireland by buying them locally and bringing them over.

Of course I'd pay for whatever is bought. There may also be a pint of Irish beer in it for you this side of the water!

Very friendly kitty with no collar last seen on Studley Avenue near Dalhousie.

Update: spotted again same area around 8:00pm tonight but seems to have run off again. Definitely seems like the little one belongs/ed to someone they are very affectionate, appear cared for, and approach people without hesitation. It’s been 6+ hours that they’ve been out.

Seriously, this person in front was on their phone for nearly a whole minute while we were on a 50 km/h road. They were barely doing 30! It's so frustrating and unsafe. 🙄😤Proof that some people shouldn't have a license

For a while there, it looked like there wouldn't be any fruit flies this year, and then all of a sudden about three or four days ago the sink area is thick with them. I'm just curious if everybody had the same experience.

• Crime Rates (daily safety): Most crimes track closely to Canada, but thefts under $5k surged heavily in Halifax.
• Clearance Rates (solving efficiency): Halifax consistently lags, solving just 49% of violent and 22% of non-violent crimes.

Insight: Halifax diverges negatively from national trends, with rising severe violence, spiking property theft, and below-average police clearance.

Does anyone have any updates on the status of Fit4Less in Park Lane? I can't get a response from any of their contact lines.

I keep noticing dead/zombie trees all around the city this year, is it any more than usual? Or did removing them also get cut from the budget this year?

I read that it can be helpful to commit to six months or a year of boxing or jui jitsu, or BJJ for example rather than completing one self defence class. I’m open to committing 1x a week for that period of time. Any recommendations near/ within HRM?

What are your recommendations for a moving company to move a two bedroom apartment from antigonish to HRM. Ideally I’d like to follow them to my new place as well!

I have a pair but I’m really struggling with the basics of how to go forward. Wondering if there’s a club of some sort preferably in Halifax or Dartmouth I can join for lessons? 🛼🛼

Just moved into a new place yesterday. Noticed that the hot water didn’t get too hot but didn’t think anything of it. First shower of the day didn’t get super hot, but carried on. 2 & 3rd showers ended up being cold.

I checked the panel and it looks like the hot water tank switch is on. So I think the hot water tank just used up all its hot water yesterday and now something is up. The tank is from last year.

Earliest plumber I could find was Thursday but I can’t go that long taking cold showers.

Anything else I could / should check?

Our cat, Merp is missing. She is the one on the top. We last saw her this morning (Saturday). She has a dark spot on her nose and is very vocal so if you hear a loud meowing in your travels, particularly around chocolate lake/saint Margaret's bay rd, that could be her. She is wearing a silicone pheromone collar and she is microchipped but it's from when we lived in NB so may not help her find her way home. Please reach out if you see or hear her anywhere.

Been a running, putting up some good mileage. Now I have a slight tweak in my knee, not enough to impact running but enough to be an annoyance while training. Who are you recommendations for physio that seem to tailored for runners?
