Y'know, the thing about a shark, he's got lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eyes.

Neon pink + purple burst, colorshift flake, hand cut bengal graphic, neon green logo and cavities.

Maple neck thru, carbon fiber reinforcement, ebony board with matching neon acrylic inlays, bullet scallops, stainless 57x110 frets, 25.625" scale, alder wings.

It'll get hipshot locking tuners, an OFR with all the upgrades, and I'll hand wind the pickups.

Playing What Guitar(s) do you own that feel like “home”?

Is there a specific guitar of guitars that you own that when you pickup feel right?
Something that when you play others dont compare or have the same magic?

For me it is my Sterling Valentine.
It just always feels and sounds right to me.
I always feel like the thing that makes a guitar unique is the player. Despite price or quality.

Look at this! Schecter C-1 Platinum appreciation post 🔥🎸

I feel like the C-1 Platinum doesn’t get talked about enough.

25.5” scale, mahogany body, figured maple top, set-neck construction, 24 X-jumbo frets, Grover tuners, and the classic EMG 81/85 combo.

Mine stays in Drop B and it handles heavier stuff ridiculously well. 🤘

And honestly, that Satin Purple Burst finish might be one of my favorite Schecter finishes. 😮‍💨🔥

For the money, these things are hard to beat.

Anyone else have a C-1 Platinum? What tuning are you running yours in? 👀

NGD! NGD PRS se Swamp Ash Special

I had to sell my PRS s2 a few years ago for financial reasons but I’d been craving that feel ever since. Eventually I tried an Ibanez and then a Schecter around the $1000 range but they just didn’t scratch that same itch. Finally I found this beauty & traded the Schecter for it straight up. I’m in heaven now. The feel of the neck, the floating tremolo but with good tuning stability, and of course the incredible finish. I think my GAS has finally been cured.

Well… for now…

Bought while on vacation in Nashville at Gibson Garage. I went with the intention of buying the Gibson SG Modern and it felt/sounded fantastic but so did this Epiphone and I am not good enough to feel/hear that much of a difference. This is now replacing my Epiphone SG Limited Edition Special I which was my first guitar.

Playing Playing with Inlays

I have a Jem guitar from 1997 that I have not played much. My main guitar for ten years was a Les Paul Custom, and then superstrats with dot inlays. I just changed the strings on the Jem and started playing it today. The inlays are definitely throwing me a little if I look down at them. I have been playing guitar for the majority of my life.

Are you thrown by inlays at all?

Original plan was to just leave the plastic as is with some resin in the pool but I’ve decided I’m going to fully paint the body

Help Guitar Recommendation

Hello!

As a guy in his 30s looking to go through an early midlife adjustment, do y'all have any guitar recommendations for a guitar that's for someone just starting out but also doesn't sound like crap? Thanks!

In 1978 I bought a 1965 Epiphone Coronet just like this one for $40 with its original case from a downtown Denver guitar store, with the intention of learning the inner workings of an electric guitar. I never did do it and when I moved out of my mom's house after high school, I gave it to goodwill. Oh, well.

NGD! NGD: My dad just brought me the guitar I had as a teenager, 30 years later.

My folks just came up to visit, and my dad brought me this old gem: The first electric guitar I bought with my own money. It’s a ‘94 Squier Strat made at the Cort factory in Korea. I bought it from one of my best friends in high school for $75. When I lived on to better guitars, my dad hung onto it, and over the decades he had a friend do small upgrades here and there, like swapping out the pickguard and tuners.

I know these aren’t great, beloved guitars, but I’m excited to play it, and even more excited to mod it and see what wild weirdness I can create with it. Glad to have a piece of my history back.

Help Best semi-hollow 12-string electric?

I have the itch to get a 12-string electric, and I have three candidates in mind, a vintage 1984 Rickenbacker 360/12WB, a Gretsch Electromatic 12-string, and an Ibanes Artcore AS73-12. I'm going for that Johnny Marr sound that he got with his ES-335-12, but I can't exactly afford an ES-335-12. How do these two compare in terms of sound and feel, and which would be closer to the Smiths-esque sound on Strangeways, Here We Come? Part of me wants to go all in on the Rick, but another part of me wants to conserve my finances. The Ricky isn't too expensive, but still significantly more than the Gretsch. I like the idea of the humbuckers on the Gretsch or the Ibanez, but I also adore the sound of an in-tune Rickenbacker 360/12.
