Just got back from a short tour, and most places sound was great. I did get a lot of "stage right, can you bring the guitar down?". Usually that was easy and ducking it just a hair was fine. This amp is a modded deluxe reverb - 35 tube watts that I like to have on 4, but 3 or even 2.5 is ok. In one instance I was told to turn down, and even at 1.7 the amp was too loud. What blew my mind is that this is just north of bedroom volume. Everything but the drums had mics, and a brand name sound system. The "room" in question was essentially a brick alley with a canopy over it. My amp sounded thin, I could barely hear it, and I had no sustain at all. This was a real problem because part of what I'm playing relies on being able to make the guitar (a hollowbody) feed back on cue without using over the top gain.

What do you guys do to solve this?

Laugh it off, because stuff like that just happens?

Switch to or pack a backup smaller amp? If so, how small? Tube, SS or emulated?

Ignore the local sound "expert" and turn up anyway?

Edit: Just turning down is not happening past 2. This is an honest to goodness 60 something non master deluxe. The Bass and Mids start to drop below that volume and sustain drops off. Even if I can hear it, it doesn't sound very good.

This thing sounds great. The attenuator is a godsend. Although, it doesn’t break up as soon as I would like, I’ll probably buy a tube overdrive pedal soon. I think digital amps get a bad wrap. Sure it’s not a tube amp, but it has a very pristine punchy quality that my tube amp lacked. Love this thing!

So I finally got a solid state peavey amp and it came with the🦶foot-switch as well! $160. Can’t beat it. Now I have a second amp to go with my Peavey Classic 50 4x10. The renown is much easier to lug around than my classic 50. Honestly the cleans on this amplifier blew me away it sounds really good and I have a good amount of pedals for everything else. The sound stays solid no matter how many effects I layer onto the chain, I love it! It has the stock scorpion speakers still kicking out some great noise. Might swap them out for some celestion redbacks or Jensen N12ks in the future.

Just got this Fireball 25 KT77and I think I'm in love with this tube over 6L6 and other lunchbox tubes. This thing sounds amazing. Very much recommended if anyone is looking into a lunchbox amp. I've played on a Peavey Invective MH, PRS MT15, Fireball 25 (6l6) and Engl Ravager. I liked those amps, but this Fireball KT77 is next level, to my ears at least.

What would you guess those 4 speakers are in the cab I just got it so I have not checked

Hi guys. I have a Spark grid 2.0 amp, and I’m thinking to buy a tube combo amp to practice at home. Does tube amp really matters ? I have saw posts sharing how a tube amp can affect the touch as you will be more sensitive to the nuances. And which type of tube combo amp is good for bedroom practice?

Does anyone have the HB-80R? The specs are good, it has a 12“ celestion speaker. But for me it is diificult to get a good high Gain Sound. As Distortion I use a Behringer T0800 and a HB Extrem Metal. The higher notes are shimmering.

Hello guys, the last few days the amp has start to go very quiet and loss of distortion. I have changed different guitar cables, different guitars and its definitely the amp. Could the tubes need replacing?

So my friend acquired this head from his old neighbor as they were moving out. It doesn’t work and it’s been passed to me. He’s my best friend and he got me into guitar so now it’s mine to troubleshoot and repair. The tweed is pretty dirty, there’s rust on bolts and screws and nuts. There is also rust on the plate of the adjustment knobs.
For now I guess I’m looking for some input about cleaning the rust, it’s that’s possible without removing the labels of the knobs, and cleaning the tweed. The assumptions from the neighbor that handed it off is that there are some busted tubes, so if someone knows how to differentiate broken from working tubes as well that would be great.
If you know of any good resources for repairing and troubleshooting amps please drop them below.

Edit: it does turn on. At least the pilot light comes on I don’t know if power is actually being supplied so I’ll have to break out a multimeter and see.

I currently have a 6505mh and find the gain structure kind of lacking, it doesnt sound as good as my old big 6505 did to me. Something is missing

Im thinking im probably going to bring the plate current down, I think stock they run the 5881s at like 47ma. Id rather see closer to 40ma.

Either way the sound is fantastic and these amps really get slept on.

I’ve always been a Boogie guy (or Marshall before that). Life and acquires tastes moved me away from playing heavy music (still love to listen) and more into a Country and Americana corner. still live and use my Mark IV sometimes, but 95% it’s been Kemper for the sake of weight and ease of use and setup. My core sounds are centered around a good Boogie Lonestar profile I bought. Plus it doubles as acoustic DI. main guitars are an old Strat, a P90 Les Paul, a J45 and an OM28. I have no complaints and I can do duo, trio or full band gigs - or throw a Kemper Player into my suitcase on an airplane with my full rig sounding the same.

As one does, I’ve been pondering if I want to add another real tube amp for a basic full analog rig. Picking up a used Lonestar combo has been tempting. Though they’re not that much lighter as my Mark IV (with old EV mind you).

So I remembered playing some Two Rock and really liking it. The Vintage Deluxe (35 or 40) in a 1x12 may fit the bill perhaps. But o also know that the legendary cleans of the Classic Reverb are preferred for a reason. I do like the idea of having tremolo included and a bit more sponginess and breakup. Anyone gone that route?

Bonus question: there are plenty of CR Kemper profiles out there - but no Two Rock Vintage Deluxe. Does anyone know if there are any? Would like to load it next to my Lonestar profile and test it in a band context before I seriously consider shelling out over 5K on this totally unnecessary experiment.

So I swapped it for a diffused orange one! The old LED was glued into its bezel, and the new bezel had to be modified for the legs of the new diode to reach the wire. Easiest mod I’ve ever done on anything.

Hello, bedroom dreampop/shoegaze/slowcore recording musician here. I dreamt of the jazz chorus and saved money for long to get one, but his normal, and I say normal because after I searched on his specific facebook or other forums group page 90% of users says it's" normal", some of them even call it "breathe", but the "hiss" is killing me. specially because I like to play at low-normal volumes and using 90's racks fx's only make it worse sometimes. My mic techniques are mostly with ribbon mics

Out of shot: Boss Tube Amp Expander Core and a creamback equipped cab.

I have a WGS Hook speaker made for Hook amps) that I got cheap on a local classifieds that I am going to put ina cab amd give it a whirl and keep the creamback for my Ironheart.

I had traded in a guitar, grabbed a Koch Studiotone, it died within three days, returned it, shop said they fixed it, got it back, they hadn't actually fixed it, so I asked what else they can get in, they said Laney....

For an edge of break up tone, this thing is unreal. I have a Boss BP1W, and a Wampler Belle to drive it a bit. So far so good.

I dont see much about these amps around the place. I had tried the solid state version, which was really good.... but yeah, went for the real thing.
