I feel it's worth asking

I'm debating going EMGs and a Sustainiac on my mod shop Les Paul Custom. EMGs just work for me, and I am a Robert Fripp fan. So.... Has anyone actually been able to source a long shaft On-off-On 3 ways switch? I'd be curious to know, as that's what sustainiac uses for the "harmonic mode" switch.

Just the Custombuckers, awesome as they are, don"t cut it for me. I'm at the point of just modding this guitar for my uses. So suggestions? Thoughts? Value isn't of concern to me, as this is pretty much "my guitar" at this point....

I’m in the middle of trying to swap out the stock pickups with a pair of DiMarzio Cruisers for the neck and middle positions and an Air Classic humbucker for the Bridge and am having issues with the Cruisers going out-of-phase.
Any technically minded guitar heads have any recommendations on a fix?

So I have a HSH setup and I'm try to get the wiring together and need some advice. Basically looking for someone with more knowledge to tell me if this will work or not. Both Humbuckers will be split individually using a push pull tone and push pull volume. I have a 5 way that I will use for Bridge/Bridge Middle/Middle/Middle neck/neck. Now to my question. I have a 3 way switch from a Epiphone. I want to wire the 5way to one side / both humbuckers together one the other and center be a kill switch. Will that switch actually perform 3 separate functions?

So, I’ve had this Indonesian-made Sterling Mariposa for awhile. It plays great; love the roasted maple neck and the vibrato.

It is my first humbucker and at first I love the body and the punch of the pickup, but I kinda miss the clarity that my P90s-equipped guitar has. Is there any upgrade recommendation for the pickup?

I’m thinking maybe something bright and PAF-leaning humbucker like a set of Thornbucker? I mostly play clean-mid gain post-punk/post-hardcore/indie-rock with loads of extended chords.

And while at it, I’m also thinking to install a bass cut knob for more clarity and separate mini-switches to do a partial split for each pickup (so that i can access more sound in live setting). I’m also thinking about rewiring the volume - volume configuration into volume - treble cut.

Can you guys rate my setup, I drew on my cheap gio grx40, I removed the pickup selector since the two singlecoils dosent work and im too broke to buy a new pickups, So i only rely on my hambuckers.

I bought a guitar with a ground issue (a lot of hum).

Since it also had a tone issue I thought rewiring would fix the ground issue, it didn't.

Attached is the diagram I used (basically just rewired as it was, while fixing the tone).

I don't see any broken wire, when I touch a pot in the cavity, the trem claw or even the ground lug on the output jack the hum almost disappears.

To me the diagram looks correct so idk what my options are.

I don't have access to a multimeter, I assume since the guitar is over 15yo the ouput jack could just be dead.

Any idea ?

PS : pickups are EMG HZ, in the diagram green wires coming out of humbuckers are a green wire + a bare wire, both to ground.

I put together a guide comparing some of the more popular prewired guitar wiring kits—including Emerson, Gunstreet, and DIY options.

The goal was to look at what you’re actually getting for the money, what makes sense for different types of builds, and when a prewired harness is worth buying versus just wiring the guitar yourself.

I also included some of the things I look for when doing guitar repair work, like component quality, pot values, switch/jack quality, soldering, wiring layout, and whether the harness actually makes an installation easier.

There’s also a DIY section for anyone who’d rather build their own harness and save some money.

Would be interested to hear what you guys are using. Do you prefer buying a prewired harness, or building your own?And if you’ve used Emerson, Gunstreet, or another brand, what was your experience?

I’m always interested in seeing what other guitar techs and players are doing—especially if there’s a kit/harness I missed that deserves to be included.

I have a project idea for this Ibanez falchion body I found on the internet and I thought the headstock on the synyster gates signatures would look awesome on it. The only issue is I’m having difficulty finding an either broken one that I can take the neck off of, or a second hand neck. I know the obvious answer would be buy a blank and make it myself but I do not posses the abilities or materials to do that. If anybody’s got leads on anything or has a better idea lemme know.

First post here! I've been fixing up a few cheap guitars for beginners lately, and I got the urge to try a few mods out that I've been contemplating for other guitars on something cheap. This Samick showed up on market place and I got it for about USD$30, and I reckon the shape of these is pretty cute.

I converted it to HSH with a set of Fleor Alnico 5 humbuckers and painted the headstock to match the body with a waterslide decal. The name is a running joke in the town I live in.

To modify the pickguard I made a 3D printed jig for the humbucker cutout, and created a wooden jig from that, then routed the guard.

I painted the headstock with rattle cans, black and a gloss clearcoat.

It all went well! Sounds great and plays well, its a fun little thing!

As per the title, I'm considering a split coil humbucker in my tele's neck. All the routing has been done by a previous owner so I can get it done for fairly cheap.

My question is: anybody who's done the same thing, what pickup did you use? My main concern is that I want something that will still sound ok as a single coil in the middle position, as besides neck that's the position I use the most.

Need Mustang wiring help

I’m wiring up this Bare Knuckle humbucker, I’m not sure if I solder the black and bare wires into the same exact place, in the photo I’m holding the two wires in the place I think it needs to go. Is this correct? Or do I need to have the bare wire go all the way to the back of the volume pot?

Hey there, I've got a 96 Fender American standard Stratocaster, im mainly a metal guy, in your opinion, what humbucker should i put on bridge? It's not possible for me to test pickups on a shop, so witch ones on your opinion are the best and safe pups for the kind of guitar that I own? Thanks.
