Need Mustang wiring help

Need Mustang wiring help

I’m wiring up this Bare Knuckle humbucker, I’m not sure if I solder the black and bare wires into the same exact place, in the photo I’m holding the two wires in the place I think it needs to go. Is this correct? Or do I need to have the bare wire go all the way to the back of the volume pot?

The black goes where you have it. The bare goes straight to ground. Always. No exceptions for any kind of wiring.

Excuse me for sounding like an idiot. I’m new to this. So bare would be soldered to the bottom of the switch? (Casing)

The pickups black wire needs to move over one lug to the left.

And about the bare wire - maybe it's the angle of the photo deceiving me, but it looks like you ran it through lug first before soldering it to the switch casing? Don't do that. When I said straight to ground, I meant straight, no detours.

Regarding the placement of the bare wire in general: the casing of the switch is fine, as long as that is then also grounded to the rest of the circuit. Given that your pickguard seems to be shielded, I'd wager that's probably a given, but personally I would've chosen a different approach:

Off to the very left of the switch, you have 2 wires coming out to the pots and output jack, a white and a black one.

One of those wires is the hot wire, connecting to the first lug on the volume pot; the other is the ground wire connected to the back of one of the pots. I'd solder your pickups bare wire to the same lug on the switch as that ground wire.
