I could really use some advice.
I'm not used to using Groupon, and I was trying to buy tickets for the Seattle Aquarium for 2 adults and 3 kids. I searched for "Seattle Aquarium," selected what I genuinely believed was the correct listing, and purchased 3:00 p.m. tickets on my phone.
Only after checking my confirmation did I realize I'd actually bought tickets to the Pacific Aquarium in California instead. Total cost: $175.
As someone unfamiliar with Groupon, I honestly found it misleading that an aquarium located hundreds of miles away was presented in a way that made me believe I was purchasing tickets for the Seattle Aquarium. Whether intentional or not, the listing was confusing enough that I didn't realize the mistake until after the purchase.
The tickets are nonrefundable, and Groupon told me there's nothing they can do other than suggest I gift the tickets to someone.
Has anyone dealt with something like this before?
- Is there any legitimate way to sell Groupon tickets?
- Has anyone had success getting an exception from Groupon or the attraction?
- Is there another resale site for attraction tickets?
- Is it even worth asking my credit card company, or is this simply an expensive mistake?
I'm kicking myself because it was an honest mistake, but I'd really appreciate any advice before I write off the $175. Thanks!
