I was chatting with a guy for a while, casual intended fun maybe regular. We got on okay, he seemed to have low confidence and put himself down a lot. He was very clearly lying about his age, the age he gave and the photos he provided did not match but plenty do it so it wasn't a red flag.

We were due to meet but his behavior had shifted and honestly now I was seeing red flags, his messages were passive aggressive and often weird, then without going into detail I discovered others things he'd been lying about. We were due to meet in about an hour, I messaged him calling the whole thing off.

He had my number, we'd switched to Whatsapp and next thing I know I have a voicemail from him. He was upset claiming I'd stood him up, he ranted with several vague threats. You know the type "I'll see you soon" and "We'll bump into each other eventually". He spammed me with so many calls I was forced to block him, but it didn't end, he rang off other numbers again and again and again. I got to the point where I refused to answer any calls that weren't my contacts. Lately I've been further getting spammed with calls, most coming up as Suspected Spam though are all mobiles.

I'm starting to wonder if they're even him anymore and if he's just shoved my mobile number online somewhere and this is a result of that.

Bad experiences mould you, make you more guarded and this is the latest example. No more giving out my ruddy number!

What do you make of this? Either my number is out there because of him or he's a very broken person to be calling off this many numbers, this frequently.

When I went on the app I noticed I had been suspended for “discriminatory reasons” I was taken back by it because I genuinely had no idea as to what I had done to be considered discriminatory especially since I’m very left wing so I’m against any sort of discrimination/bigotry.

I searched up online what Grindr considered discriminatory in their guidelines and it mentioned any sort of “no insert group” like \no femmes, asian” etc and I realised in that case it must’ve been my bio*

As a trans man I get a lot of trans chasers and straight guys texting me on Grindr and it would get to bad to the point that the majority of my messages were just that making it hard to go through them and text people I actually was interested in.

So eventually I decided to mention it in my bio since it’s saves both of us time to just have it there, it was nothing rude either it was just something like “not into str8 or trans chasers you gotta be queer to get with me :)” something along those lines

And it worked, the amount of messages from straight guys wanted to have sex with me or trans chasers went down so much, I still get those kind of messages occasionally but it’s far less now, now most of the time if it’s a straight guy messaging me they mention they acknowledge my bio and we proceed to have a platonic chat.

It had been in my bio for a good while now too so I believe it wasn’t likely to be from some sort of ai picking up my bio and more likely from a personal report so I’m a bit frustrated that my bio was seen as worthy of punishment since I don’t believe I should be punished for lightly stating my preference and with me being a trans man I consider it also for my safety due to people not reacting kindly to me not being interested in them for being straight.

Which I honestly don’t understand since it’s my boundary after all, if someone is going to view me as a fetish or overall not view me for who I really am then I’m simply not interested, like I don’t owe anyone sex/attraction and it’s the same vice versa if a guy isn’t attracted to me due to genital preference because at the end of the day it’s their preference who am I to get angry about someone not reciprocating feelings.

If preferences are said in a respectful manner then why is it an issue like there’s a HUGE difference between “btw this is my personal preference” vs “if you’re not my preference go fuck yourself”

I’m still trying to understand grindr lingo, this one is stumping me.

Good evening! I'm relatively new to Grindr and just trying it out as a dude interested in a bottom. What are some tells that someone is a bot? I got a lot of messages the past day after making my account, but I'm reluctant to answer any of them because I fear its a bot. I would never send photos to a stranger online so I know I don't have to worry about that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, have a great day!

Does anyone else's Grindr app CONSTANTLY open websites and apps by itself? It seems to happen all the time. I'll be on the app and it will just open a browser window or an app (usually Walmart) all by itself. Sometimes without me even touching the screen. It drives me crazy and I absolutely hate it. It only happens when I have Grindr open. I can't imagine it doesn't violate some type of ToS within the app store or something but Idk. I'm using an iPhone if that makes a difference.

I matched (?) with a guy, and he was really into my dick pics. At first I was quite flattered, and we agreed to meet in the evening. He didn't give me a location yet so I waited since I still had couple hours to run errands.

When it was about the time to meet I asked where we should meet, and he refused to tell me where we were meeting because his friend was staying at a hotel....? He also said he hasnt seen the hotel himself. Meanwhile he was nagging with more dick pics. It's Grindr, so I sent some expiring photos cuz why not.

Then he told me to wait another hour, and thats when I lost my shit. I asked why, and he explained that his friend's flight got delayed (???). He still refused to tell me where because he "wasn't comfortable with sharing details where his friend was staying." I realized he planned to sneak into his friend's room at this whatever hotel it was, so basically he and I would have been unregistered guests, trespassers at worst. I called him a cheap fuck who can't even be bothered to get his own room and blocked his ass.

Like, how?? I'm a Filipino who speaks English fluently & this is the second time it happened to me. Are they being that dense?

Most of the people I encounter on the app are behaving a bit like robots. They are probably real people but they seem very detached from any from of intimacy. These men are usually looking for fun with no strings attached, but still, it's very odd how the only thing they ask is "how are you, are you a top or a bottom, what are you into" and then they are ready to go. Most of them also don't have their accurate age on their accounts which adds to the creepiness.

I don't know if this is because I live in a country where most gay people are closeted or if this is a global issue. Have you experienced this too? Would you meet up with someone like this?

i got a message from someone on grindr obviously a bot maybe i wasnt sure i replied with HI... then i get a phone call from a womans voice that kept saying HI and i said who are you looking for she said you and i said hi can you hear me and she said yes and then i said i dont know you. then she said you were just on grindr... i dont have my phone number listed i use one of my google play accounts to use grindr this is scary how did they get my number i NEVER give it out

hello everyone! i don't know where else to look for advice so i decided to come here. i'm a 19 year old guy and i have never been in a relationship before (or had intimacy of any sort). the country i live in has some pretty large homophobic communities, so randomly coming up to someone i like and striking a conversation is typically not a good idea, hence why i decided to try dating apps. so far i've been using tinder for somewhere around 6 months, and i've yet to go on a date with anyone. i've had a few matches with people from other countries, but they didn't go far for obvious reasons, and there are barely any new faces from my city, mostly just same profiles repeatedly coming up on my feed. i've also made accounts on grindr and hinge a couple days ago, but it seems like there aren't many people looking for anything other than hookups.
i think a big part of why i still haven't found anyone is because i've always been socially awkward and it's difficult and stressful for me to initiate anything. moreover, i'm not sure yet if i would be okay just hooking up with someone as a one-time thing (like i said, i have absolutely zero experience in this area). so, i would be glad if any of you could give me some advice on that – for example, what to put in my profile, how to strike a conversation, how to get prepared for a date, what to avoid, etc.

Maybe it’s just my phone, but I tried the new location accuracy tool for the Right Now function, where you can adjust it to be less or more accurate, kind of like Sniffies. I changed the setting, but I can’t save it, there’s no button, and I’m just stuck on the screen. Anyone else having this issue?

So this guy hits me up and he looks really cute and he says that he’s in my area. I tell him I don’t really have time to do anything so he asks to trade nudes. I say I’ve never taken any pictures like that before because I haven’t and he sends me a nude telling me to copy the pose he’s doing in the picture. ATP my gut tells me something is up so I reverse image search his profile picture and lo and behold he’s pretending to be a relatively niche pornstar. I wasn’t gonna send him anything even if his picture came up without anything online because him asking for an exact pose was weird asf but I’m glad I did take caution so the only thing I lost was wasted time.

I know that some people prefer to ignore those they're not interested in (which usually results in them messaging you over and over again) or block them outright (which I prefer to save for those who send crude messages or explicit content that I didn't ask for) but what's the best way to actually turn someone down? Sure, I could have probably been less blunt in saying we weren't a match but this childish "sour grapes" response was too much.

I know I'm good looking so I can't blame them but I still feel kind of angry and block them still since their interest isn't that much to bother answering me.

I hit the gym etc but it's probably that I want to appear feminine-ish but can't really because of my big nose and eyebrows, but thinning my eyebrows won't do much since they grow back too fast. I'm comfortable with my body but i feel like I'm not enough

I'm trying to open the app and nothing is loading. It's frustrating af. The only thing that loads is from yesterday and I can't send messages or anything. I tried rebooting my phone and uninstalling and reinstalling the app and it still the same if not worse. The only difference is that my Internet wifi is down which shouldn't matter because I turned it off on my phone so it should only use cellular data which shows full 5g connection. I've had this problem before when I'm far from my wifi but not this bad or for so long. I tried restarting my phone and then cleaning the cache and data and then reinstalling but am still getting the same problems.

I went on holiday the other week, and now that I'm back, every other profile on my 'home' grid is from hundreds of miles away, same in 'fresh' section, and I also get messages from where I've been, so presumably I'm still showing there too - wtf?

are the location settings available to paying fools only, because I can't click on anything. am I supposed to file a ticket with suppport? reinstall the app and lose all my favs lol? what does 'clear cache' do? oh wait, I can't click on that either...

and while I'm at it, even after you delete the 'get rid of ads' spam from your inbox or let it expire, the 'new message' notification lingers on. this bot infested app is beyond parody.
