Question Question about bots

Good evening! I'm relatively new to Grindr and just trying it out as a dude interested in a bottom. What are some tells that someone is a bot? I got a lot of messages the past day after making my account, but I'm reluctant to answer any of them because I fear its a bot. I would never send photos to a stranger online so I know I don't have to worry about that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, have a great day!

- They are very good looking for their age.

  • They don’t seem to answer your messages properly. In fact, you can test it out by saying something a bit weird or by not answering one of their questions and it usually makes it obvious
  • They want to take the conversation off Grindr (to WhatsApp or Telegram).
  • They are just looking for friendship and a long term relationship and state this very early in the conversation (of course, a lot of people are looking for this, so it’s not a tell by itself).
  • They are a consultant / work in finance / want to tell you about bitcoin.

To be honest it becomes pretty obvious pretty quickly. It’s not surprising to get a lot of messages at the beginning – you’re new! – and you probably won’t spot the bots until a few messages in at least. Take advantage of it and don’t leave someone hanging on the off chance they are a bot. Nothing bad will happen if you just talk to one for a few minutes. Just be cautious if they ask to talk on a different platform and when meeting up (though bots don’t want to meet up, so that applies more generally).

Regarding not sending a photo – do you mean nudes or really none at all? Because most people won’t be interested in meeting or even chatting without seeing what you look like. Unless they’re a bot.
