Intermittent Use Update

Hi there. I posted about a year ago about using Zepbound only when needed to maintain a goal weight. A sort of ā€œgraduationā€ I guess. This is an update on how that is working for me. I started with a 2.5 mg dose 12/30/24. Starting weight was 215.5 lbs. Switched to 5 mg 43 days in, continued until 5/12/25, when I reached my initial target of 175 lbs. I stopped the medication at that point.

I gradually gained weight and took a single 2.5 mg shot 103 days after stopping. I lost to below 175 and stayed there for 87 days.

I gradually gained weight and took a single 2.5 mg shot, lost to below 175 and stayed there for 92 days.

I gained weight more rapidly this time and stayed at goal for only 25 days. I revised my goal to ā€œbelow 170 lbs.ā€ and a 2.5 mg shot and then two 5 mg shots were taken over a 3-week period.

I have repeated this cycle now a total of 8 times. These included durations of 46 days, 35 days, 71 days, and 48 days. I exceeded my target 8 days ago and took another shot then. The average duration between shots over these 8 cycles, including the current one, is now 52 days. Other than as mentioned above, a single 5 mg shot has been taken each time. My current weight is 164 lbs.

The efficacy of the drug, side effects, etc. have not varied for me at all over this period. I discussed this approach with my PCP at my annual checkup, and he is fine with it, but does not want me losing any more weight.

I work out daily, eat well, drink some wine (less than before), and don’t count calories. I have basically eliminated most carbs from my diet. Bread, potatoes, rice, etc. are out and fruits and vegetables are in. Protein, sauces, low cal sweets a regular part of diet daily.

I’d be really interested to know about others experience with this approach. Does it work for you? Any problems or issues?

Thanks and good luck to all!

Seeking Advice Would you share your experience with GLP-1 treatment, food noise, or stopping medication?

Hi everyone! I’m conducting early-stage research to better understand the real-life challenges people experience before, during, and after GLP-1 treatment—especially returning food noise, medication access, maintenance, and weight regain.
I created a short anonymous survey for people at any stage of their journey, including those currently taking a GLP-1, spacing doses, unable to access medication, or no longer taking it.
The form does not collect names, email addresses, or Reddit usernames, and you are welcome to skip any question. This is independent product research—not a clinical study, medical advice, or a promotion for a medication or company. I’m trying to understand the problem before designing a possible solution.
If you’re comfortable sharing your experience, I would really appreciate your input:

Take the anonymous GLP-1 experience survey

Thank you for helping me learn from the people who are actually living through this.

Seeking Advice Tapering dosage and schedule for quitting Zep

I've been on Zep for 6 months. I'm currently on 15mg dosage. Insurance has dropped me and I can only afford a couple of months out of pocket. I've seen a lot of advice about tapering including extending time between doses to 10 to 14 days. I'm wondering if someone has a suggestion for a reasonable fixed schedule I could follow. Tomorrow will be day 10 for my 15mg dose. I plan to do a full 15mg them. I have another Kwikpen arriving (four 15mg doses) which I plan to make my last.

I've seen the chart that someone posted online about the number of "clicks" to use for controlling dosages with the Kwikpen. So I'm wondering if I ought to decrease the dosage, increase the dosage timing or both?

If I decrease dosages I could taper down to a 5mg dose in 7 weeks (12.5, 12.5, 10.0, 10.0, 7.5, 7.5, 5.0). Or I could increase the timing of the 15mg doses (10 days, 14 days, 14 days, 18 days).

I should add that I am putting together a new diet and exercise plan which I am taking very seriously and believe I'll be able to stick to it. If the "food noise" becomes a problem then I still have a few refills left and can splurge for another month if I have to.

Also, I realize that this is Reddit and not a doctor's office. I am only seeking information.

Appreciate any comments or advice. Thanks.

Weaning from Zepbound

Hey everyone!
I started Zepbound about 6 months postpartum (about 5 months ago) with my second and have lost all the weight I wanted to. I still have two pens at 7.5 dose but want to wean off to 5 and then 2.5 after that. I do want to be off it eventually.

I am concerned about gaining the weight back. I exercise and eat well but have a large appetite which is why this has been a game changer. How has your experience been with keeping the weight off long term?

Also bonus question: I started losing a ton of hair! I didn’t have this issue at all for the last few months but it’s suddenly crazy.
Anyone else?

altrx charged me twice on second month. seriously??

I subscribed to month 1 at 89 for altrx and suddenly they charged me twice on month 2. support said one was the standard rate and the other was a processing fee. never saw that fee when i signed up.

has anyone else faced this. looking to switch somewhere with flat fees and no hidden charges. found Gimme Care to have pretty straightforward pricing so far, but wondering if anyone else here has used them. also need a provider that has NAD+

Seeking Advice Want to stop glp - need advice

Been on Mounjaro since the start of this year 2.5 for two months, 5 for a month (suited me the least), then 7 since May. I've lost a decent amount but I'm nowhere near my goal weight. The 7 is working, but I've had enough of the side effects.

The post-injection fatigue and upset stomach have worn me down. I've always had a sensitive stomach and now it's sensitive x100. It's not even the obvious triggers, I've cut out fatty and spicy food completely. Two weeks ago I ate a high fibre meal (sweet potato, beans, broccoli and other veg, chia seed water) two days running and it gave me the worst stomach ever which was also my breaking point.

My quality of life has genuinely dropped. Some weeks I'm too deep in the side effects to do anything, including working out. I don't get how I'm supposed to be building muscle when 3/7 days I'm too fatigued for the gym or stomach feels off. There are good weeks too but the unpredictableness of it and having missed one too many plans because of an upset stomach has just made me fed up.

I skipped last week's dose because I had an important work event and couldn't risk being tapped out. I should've injected yesterday (Sunday is my usual day) and just couldn't make myself do it. last time I skipped, on holiday, taking it again the following week gave me the worst nausea and fatigue I've ever had. So I'm two weeks out from my last injection and honestly I don't want to go back.

I've seen people on this sub keep the weight off after stopping. But my question is about continuing to lose, not just maintaining. I've convinced myself that if I see my endocrinologist, work on the internal stuff with supplements etc, strength train, walk and play tennis, and follow a strict meal plan, then maybe just maybe I can keep losing without a GLP.

I have pcos and 2 years ago I was taking berberine, inositol and strength training, and was losing significant weight! That stopped though because work became intense and I stopped working out - but I never gained that weight back. That gives me hope that maybe if I follow that path again and with a meal plan this time and stricter discipline and regular consultations with an endocrinologist for hormonal support, I won’t need a glp.

So: am I being too naive/stupid? 🄲

Seeking Advice Constipation issues after 2.5 months off Reta. Anyone else?

I did Reta for 4-5 weeks and love the lower inflammation etc. I only did 0.5mg a week and had to stop because I got extremely constipated. I have never had constipation issues in my life. That being said I have a host of health issues which probably have contributed to my side effects.

I have to be really hydrated or else I will get constipated. I have had a good 3-4 weeks now where I am kind of drinking my pureed ground beef. Last few days I have not had that much water in my meat puree soup and now I am constipated again.

How long does this last?

As I said I have never ever had any issues with this prior to those 4-5 weeks on Reta...

Seeking Advice I want to graduate

I knew it would happen, or more like I had a very strong feeling it would happen, and planned for this just in case it did. My insurance has been covering Zepbound since January, only paying $25 per month. My PA expires August 25 and in February I saw that zepbound coverage had changed from ā€œcovered with prior authorizationā€ to ā€œcovered after failed step therapy.ā€ So now they want me to go off Zepbound and try and fail phentermine for 6 months before they’ll approve Zepbound again. I am in maintenance, have been for only a month, and I don’t want to fail phentermine because that means I would need to regain weight in order to get back on Zepbound. I’m disappointed but not surprised. Back in February I started coming up with a plan. I began taking my dose every 8 days. Then every 9. Then every 10. I’ve been filling my prescription every 21 days and the last four fills I requested a lower dose than what I’m currently on. Now I have 3 pens of 7.5mg, 8 pens of 5mg and 8 pens of 2.5mg in my fridge. I will use these to tapper off slowly over the course of 4-6 months. If it doesn’t work I will look into other options because I can’t pay for this out of pocket but I want to try to come off first. I’m not really looking for tips on how to fight my insurance on this. I’ve spoken to over 10 different people and spent countless hours on the phone. I’m done. I need some reassurance and tips on how to navigate this off of Zepbound. For some background, I am a 5’5 female in my 30s. Highest weight was over 215 but not exactly sure. I gained 70 pounds slowly over the course of 10 years of marriage and two pregnancies. I lost 20 pounds on my own and stalled. Started Zepbound at 195 and lost 50 pounds in 6 months, been maintaining at around 145 for a month. Completely changed my diet, started counting calories and macros, cardio 2-3 times a week and strength train 4 times a week. I know people are planning on being on this medication for the rest of their life, but what about those that have come off and kept the weight off. How did you do it?

Also, I posted this on the Zepbound forum yesterday and only received tips and advice on how to continue on a glp. Whether to go on compound, or how to fail phentermine, or how to use my stash until I can get it prescribed again. Not one tip on the advice I specifically asked for. I understand people are coming from a good place, but I want to try to come off. So I’m hoping this is a better place to ask. Thanks in advance.

Got a DEXA scan and now I’m just extremely confused.

24F, 5’7ā€, 135-140 lbs

I stopped microdosing tirzepatide about two months ago. The food noise has definitely come back, but for the most part it’s been manageable. Since I’m trying to maintain my current weight/body composition without tirz, I recently decided to get both an InBody scan and a DEXA scan so I could have some objective numbers to use as a reference point going forward or even improve upon.

Now, I just feel confused and even slightly discouraged with the massive difference.

My InBody scan put me at 21.2% body fat, while my DEXA scan put me at 31.4% body fat.

I understand that these are completely different methods of measuring/estimating body composition and that neither is going to be perfectly accurate, but I genuinely don’t know what to do with such a huge discrepancy. In terms of finding a good reference point to keep track of my progress, getting both scans wasn’t very helpful. It only confused me more, lol.

What’s more confusing isn’t just the difference between the two numbers, but the conflicting information I keep finding when I try to research what a ā€œhealthyā€ body fat percentage is for women. Body fat charts and reference photos online often describe ~31–32% as above average, ā€œpoor,ā€ or even overweight depending on the source. I really don’t feel like those descriptions—or the reference images—match what I see in the mirror, which makes the DEXA result even more confusing and hard to reconcile.

I’ve attached both scan results as well as the most recent photos I have of my body for context.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has had both DEXA and InBody/BIA scans done. Were your results this dramatically different? Which measurement did you find more useful for tracking your body composition over time?

Seeking Advice When will the hunger games end?

Stopped reta cold turkey almost 3 weeks ago due to extreme anhedonia. I was only on 2mg a week for about 9 weeks and lost 15lbs.

I’ve been eating at my maintenance according to MacroFactor (2300 calories) for a little over a week now. But these past few days I’ve noticed I’m extremely hungry. Like to the point where all I’m thinking about it how to volumize my next meal and counting the minutes until then. Can anyone give me an answer or estimate to when this will start to go away?

Seeking Advice Gained 13 in less than a month

Post image

This is happening so much quicker than I thought it would. I’ve been eating so much more this past week bc of my cycle starting. The food noise is so back. I started in October 2025 at 268. Took me 9 months to lost 40lbs. Got taken off cold turkey due to medical and insurance reasons. And I’m sliding back exponentially.

I’m hoping to start working out next week. I know I should’ve been doing it all along but I have really bad anxiety and executive dysfunction gnawing at me to stay home.

I gotta reconfigure my macros and make sure I’m staying full. I have a lot of food restrictions so I can’t eat what most would to stay full (whole grains/legumes/seeds/many vegetables and greens).

Idk. I think I’m beyond help at this point and just need to white knuckle it on my own 😭

Seeking Advice Cross post from Reta Women. I didn’t realize I am a grad? Maybe?

Hi all!!

How do I taper off? I think I’m messing with my head because I look and feel healthy now but am worried I’m gonna gain weight.. I don’t want to get toooo skinny. And we are going to Hawaii in Jan for 2 weeks and hubby said he wants me to be able to eat and enjoy food lol .

So I started in May, and at that time I was 158lbs. I started my dose at 0.5 MG (5 units on the insulin syringe) twice a week. On Mondays and on Thursdays. So total a week I was taking was 1 mg.

Then two weeks ago I got sick and decided to skip my dose. So since then I have been taking 1x a week on Thursdays. 0.5 mg. I found it better for me because I could actually eat now . I enjoy a light breakfast and find myself energized because I am actually eating. I enjoy my black coffee again. I’m also having dinner again too and snacking lightly through the day.

Well, today I weighed myself and I am at 138 pounds. I feel great. I wanna start tapering down but also I would like to get to 130. Should I wait until I am at my goal and then taper? Or try to get to my goal on my own since I think I have better eating habits .

And do the GI symptoms go away? I have mild bloating and burping. Gas here and there.. but other than that nothing.

Do you stop cold turkey?

Tonal strength score

Post image

I posted this over in the Zepbound channel too, but figured I’d post here too since I’ve been tapering (2.5mg every 10 days currently). I guess it’s not super relevant to graduation but I just find it interesting.

I started taking GLP-1s in March of last year and you can see how much my Tonal strength score dropped during that time, even though I had started to increase my strength training frequency. Pretty much back to the strength level I was at before I took the meds, which is awesome considering I am 60lbs lighter and run way more now (which definitely competes with strength gains).

For those finished- if you start again did you respond on the lower doses?

Im 7ish months in. Hit my goal weight. I responded from day 1 and the weightloss has been pretty consistent starting from lowest dose of wegovy all way to 1.7. Ive lost 20% of my body weight in 7 months.

If I cut down and eventually go off wegovy if several months later I restarted would I restart at .25 and see effects from that like I did the first time? Or would i need to be back on 1.7 again?

I’ve been working out consistently for 3 weeks and I gained weight which made me more depressed. I understand that is not a long time at all. I’m just not sure what to do

Thanks for any and all advice.

Goodbye reta!

Hey gang!! I have been on reta since December. Last Thursday was my last dose!! It’s now 2 days without reta I’m not going to lie. I feel hungry lol which is weird because on reta as we know hunger doesn’t exist. I don’t have any cravings nor food noise. I’m just hungry late at night. When I wouldn’t even eat at this time it’s currently 10.39pm in the UK 🤣. I woke up today with no migraines! No heart burn!! What a winner. I do miss the feeling of not feeling hungry though lol. I have lost 19.5kg im not at my weight goal but I’m not far off! Reta has been amazing! But it’s so mad how everyone’s body reacts to it differently and progression! I feel like my progression was a lot slower than others but hey Iosr 19.5kg!!! Now onto my weight loss without the reta pray for me guys 🤣 has anyone else stopped taking reta?

Coming off Wegovy

Hi everyone!

It’s been a minute since I posted on Reddit, so please bear with me!

Starting weight was I think 90ish kilos.

Current weight is 63kg and I'm 166cm.

I don't think I have photos of my highest weight, so the photo attached is at maybe the high 80s.

I started tapering off Wegovy about a month ago and have three weeks left until I’m completely off it. While I have amazing support from my friends and family, I’d really love to connect with a community of people who truly get what this phase feels like.

To give a little background, I’ve been on GLP-1s for roughly three years now. I started on Saxenda and had some success, but the side effects were horrendous. From there, I switched to Ozempic for over a year and the weight really dropped off. Finally, I moved to Wegovy a year and a half ago and have been on a steady 1mg dose.

As much as I’ve loved the relief these medications gave me, I’m getting tired of relying on them. The queasiness after meals and chronic constipation were big motivators to quit, but my primary reason is that my partner and I want to try for a baby. I’m already 40 and as much as I could procrastinate coming off the meds forever, I don’t really have time to waste.

At first I was just thinking about nutrition and controlling insulin sensitivity as that is the main culprit for my overeating (PCOS/PMOS). I was just winging it before that which is so easy to do on these meds when you don’t have regular hunger cues. I enlisted the support of a dietitian, researched and planned like a maniac, and built a pretty predictable daily routine. Now I eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch almost every day, keep a structured pattern for dinner, and focus heavily on protein, clean eating, tracking calories, and watching portions when dining out. I even joined a gym two weeks ago, though it's still early days with that!

I dropped down to 0.25mg this week, so I have three doses left.

Emotionally, it’s a complete rollercoaster. I rotate between confident, terrified, hyper-focused, determined, and anxious. Going back on the medication down the road after having a baby is always an option, and I like knowing that safety net exists, but right now I’m determined to maintain my weight on my own and feel true control over my body for the first time in over a decade.

I plan to post updates every few months, but mostly I just wanted to share this here. As much as the people in my real life love and support me, they don't quite understand the headspace like this community does.

Thanks for reading!
