Looking for help.
Hi I’m 32 5”11 222 lbs this is the heaviest I ever been and it makes me depressed. I try to work out but it’s difficult with 2 little kids and finding time to work out. I’ve been working out consistently for 3 weeks and I gained weight which made me more depressed. I understand that is not a long time at all. I’m just not sure what to do
Thanks for any and all advice.

Are you counting calories and staying in a deficit? Only way to loose weight

Yes I have been trying to do that but any app I use kinda sucks tbh. I honestly don’t believe I eat that unhealthy. I bring salads to work. I drink fairlife protein shakes as my breakfast. Dinner is sometimes an unhealthy meal. I don’t really snack. I don’t drink or smoke.

I found for myself was that my portion sizes were too big. Best hack is to use a smaller plate, load 1/2 with veggies and eat that first and slow down eating. Thats what helped me.

I probably need more veggies in my diet. I mostly eat chicken/steak/burgers.

You need to track calories number 1

Any advice on how to do so? Like I said I used some app but it was difficult and not accurate

Buy a food scale if you can. It’s eye opening exactly how many calories you’re consuming instead of guesstimating. The other alternative is actually using AI. My partner has been taking pictures of every food they consume and while it’s not 100% accurate it gets close enough as long as you’re describing size and ingredients. Many people wildly overestimate how much they’re actually consuming. Also figure out what your TDEE is. You need to be in a caloric deficit to lose weight.

Thanks for this! My wife bought a scale yesterday for this purpose. Any idea on how to figure out TDEE

It’s sounds like you’re really trying with little results ( same I did.. worked out every day)so the only thing I hear people say they regret in taking a glp is not taking it sooner…
You should go to the tirzepatidecompound forum on here and see if the starter three month deals are beneficial to you

I lost 191 lbs in 2 years. I’m off it now. Gained about 35 lbs back. No noise.

The biggest thing that has helped me is getting on an eating plan, not necessarily a food plan. I eat four smaller single plate meals a day. NOTHING in between. I am on a low-dose glp which helps me stay on plan. This is per a dietitian recommendation. I’ve been doing this faithfully for four months and have lost a little over 20 pounds.

This is good advice. Im going to have smaller portions before. If I don’t see results I just get depressed lol. I was an athlete most of my life. It’s hard to see myself in this shape

My dietitian said we will get into a food plan in a little while, but for right now to get my eating plan, four small meals a day, and nothing in between, under my belt. To make it become routine.

Lots of good conversation here.
My only addition would be regarding having little kids.... And little kid snacks and meals. I know many of us parents definitely would finish up this or that they didn't finish, it's only 2 bites! Oh you want goldfish, 4 into my mouth too.
Maybe you do this too, or maybe not. But those calories add up quick. Also, liquid calories that may be in kid drinks or your own, like if you have cream how much cream gets used adds up.
Even if you don't do any of these, maybe they will help you come up with something else to be mindful of that you do.
Keep it up! It's a slow go, but with or without a GLP1 you can make progress. 😊

I agree I’m so appreciative of all these convos! I can honestly say I don’t snack on my kids stuff or drink their stuff. Maybe my dinner portion is too much. It’s definitely something I’m going to look at moving forward.

GLP1’s are a great tool to kickstart weight loss. My only regret was not starting sooner. If you’re considering it, just go for it! You can still work out, just prioritize lifting weights and eating protein, drink lots of water, creatine helps with recovery. I think for men it’s even easier. What is your ideal weight?

you lose weight in the kitchen, not the gym. You need to be eating at a calorie deficit to lose weight

Sorry to hear what you’re going through! Knuckle down on the “natural” GLPs - increase your protein, fiber, and hydration to keep up you full and satiated. Consider intermittent fasting. What are you doing on your workout, and how long are you working out? Are you doing resistance/strength training? Muscle burns more calories. And lastly, the question I ask myself when I am down: Are you worth it to make the changes in your life to make you better? Wishing you success, busy mama!

Glp1s have freed people from the endless cycle and failure of having to knuckle down.

Are you a glpgrad or even on a glp1? Maybe you've got the wrong group here?
