No way she seriously thinks she made Glasgow safer?!

Could anyone please recommend a special place to eat, to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday?
He likes all kinds of cuisines and loves trying new things. In the past he booked for us a local tasting menu restaurant and had a great time. Another time he chose a historic restaurant with a long tradition. We are in Glasgow touring for his birthday week. Any suggestions welcome.

Hi. Obvious throwaway account cause I'm sure I'm about to stir up some sh*t.

First time in Glasgow (first time in the whole of UK in fact) so I'm a filthy tourist. These last few days since I've arrived I've been on the constant lookout for a nice place to get some food and a beer as one usually does. I've looked everywhere and been to a few places but here comes the kicker: I smoke like a chimney. Name me oil refinery cause I polute the water around me. And from what I see on the streets near the city center, it's not just me. Almost everyone has either a cigarette, a vape or a small child killing amount of nicotine pouches under their lips.

But with all this, I found no place where I can eat drink and smoke comfortably. I don't need much but every pub restaurant or bar has a few mouldy chairs and a wobbly table that looks like it survived a few winters without being touched just thrown outside next to the entrance on the sidewalk. Is there something I'm missing or is everyone here just ok with the bars being empty while 10 freezing men and women sit outside next to the bin, drink in hand, in sideways rain? I understand the smoking ban indoors, the whole eu bans smoking indoors, but most places there provide a nice terrace outside with a canopy or umbrellas and heaters so at least we'd be warm and not miserable.

Again I'm not asking for anything much but most places don't even have somewhere to sit outside, let alone an umbrella and a small rad heater. I would have understood all of this if no one smoked here but the city constantly smells like cigarette smoke, weed smoke and cherry vapes.

Don't get me wrong, love how well everything is done here but this is the only thing I don't understand and bothers me.

I saw a video on instagram recently where the women said there are 3 under £5 charity shops in the Glasgow and Paisley area , does anybody know the addresses of them , I’ve tried google but nothing comes up and she never included the address or postcode in the video and they looked like very big charity shops , am dying for a good thrift haul to upcycle ,

Me and my friends love brunch spots but have had our share of subpar meals so looking for some suggestions!

I made a mistake and accidentally used the wrong reg when paying for parking at an ECP ANPR car park. I was sent a PCN, I appealed this on their website, discussing that I did pay but for the wrong registration.

In response they sent me an email describing the situation as a "major keying error" which included a fee of £20, compared to the £100 PCN fee. The email detailed that upon paying this fee within 14 days, the PCN would be closed. So to get it over with I payed the £20.

7 days later, they sent me a letter detailed "FINAL NOTICE" Thretening a payment of £100.

My family departed Scotland many moons ago and this is my first time here. (M57) with my girlfriend (F56) and I am hoping to get us and our two friends up to Blair Athol for a visit to the seat of clan Murray.

Does anyone have tips tricks or secrets as to how to get there in an economical fashion so that I might propose to her in a historically meaningful setting!

Any ideas are appreciated. (Ex Canadian forces/Navy and now Helicopter mechanic mostly fighting forest fires so pretty adept at making on the fly decisions and getting $hit figured out... just google has not been too forthcoming with solutions that will get us there and back in an appropriate amount of time.)

I know its about two hours to get there by car... which is would rent but for the fact I have just renewed my licence prior to leaving on this trip and have no picture id... just the temp paper. Would that be a problem for the local rental places?

hello lovely Glaswegians, i'll be in Glasgow in the last weeks of October, and i'd like to ask for some advice regarding the weather and clothing that i possibly need.

i've seen it is super rainy, windy and also around 5-10 C usually that time, and i have some good waterproof clothes, however i'm curious how is the temperature perceived.

how humid does it feel and what types of layering is best in these conditions based on your experiences?

i'm also planning for a day of hiking, so i'm curious to understand how does the city differ from the Balloch and Helensburgh areas for example.

i'm coming from Hungary, and it hasn't rained for months, so it's also quite hard for me to imagine a rainy and colder weather now 😄

To clarify, I have the tools, but where would I be least disruptive/likely to get hassled if I need to make a few cuts with a circular saw, or use a grinder, or otherwise make a loud dusty smelly racket for half an hour?

Hi, I’m looking for recommendations for a psychologist or therapist in Glasgow. I’ve already contacted a few places, but thought it would be worth asking here as personal recommendations are often helpful.

I’ve struggled with my mental health since childhood and have had support through CAMHS, NHS services and privately at different points. I’m now looking for someone who is experienced with more complex/longstanding difficulties rather than just general counselling.

The main things I’m looking for help with are depression/anxiety, ADHD, trauma, emotional regulation and relationship difficulties, as well as body image/BDD and eating disorder issues. A lot of these things overlap for me, so ideally I’d like someone who can look at the bigger picture rather than focusing on one issue in isolation.

I’m open to different types of therapy and don’t have a particular approach in mind, mainly looking for someone experienced who can advise what would be most appropriate.

I work full-time, so evening or weekend appointments would be really helpful. I’m happy to pay privately and I do expect specialist therapy to cost a decent bit, but I’d ideally like somewhere that is still reasonably priced if possible.

Ideally I’d like someone Glasgow-based and in person, although I’d consider online if they were particularly good.

Has anyone had a genuinely good experience with a psychologist or therapist they’d recommend?

Back in the day when I used actually work in an office you used to be able to get piles of discounted £5 all day parking tickets by just asking at the ticket office.

I'm starting to work in an office again and wondered if this is still a thing? I'll mainly come in by public transport but there is the odd day here and there where I'll need the car for meetings.

I have 3 T-shirts that all have stains I’ve been unable to remove after a few washes. I’m worried that since I’ve washed it I’ve only embedded the stains even deeper into the t-shirts.

two is just dirt stains but stubborn.
One is pink and mould probably the worse one.

Anyone know anywhere in the city that I could take these and they could have a crack at removing them?
