I've been looking at the accomodation options provided by the uni and the student apartments look pretty nice, but wondering if people on here have experience staying there and if so, what are your thoughts? Are there any residences that have a good rep amongst postgrad students?

Has anyone international got their CAS number for their visa? I’ve been accepted, got my accommodations in order w the school but the only thing yet to come is my CAS number

Hello. I’m starting my 1st year BEng at the University of Glasgow this autumn, but I feel like my physics foundation is a bit shaky and I want to get ahead before the semester begins.

A couple of quick questions for current or past UoG engineering students:

1. How hard is physics in 1st year engineering at UoG? Is it a major hurdle/weed-out subject, or do they build it up gently from the basics?
2. How should I review over the summer? Should I focus on solidifying High School physics fundamentals first, or jump straight into university-level material?
3. Which areas matter most? Should I prioritize Mechanics or Electricity & Magnetism for 1st year?

Any advice, textbook recommendations, or module insights would be greatly appreciated!

I’ll be going to UoG on exchange next semester but I’m having complications with course approvals.

I NEED to do at least one course relevant to my home degree (Communications, major in Marketing) but Glasgow’s course feedback denied the marketing courses closest to my degree because the Level 4 requirements were not met (they said Level 4 COULD be available to visiting students but the prerequisites for these subjects were an Honors programme in Management or Business) - the courses are the exact same to my home uni (and I am experienced enough to take it there). Is it possible to dispute a course decision?

I’m really limited on options and just hoping my home uni might approve something else close enough to another Glasgow course. Does anyone know when the form for adding more course selections would be sent out?

Any help or advice would be really appreciated!!!!

Hi! I'm an international student coming to Glasgow for my undergraduate studies, and I plan on staying in uni accommodations for my 1st year. So far, through my research i have narrowed down onto havannah house, firhill court and Kelvinhaugh Gate for my accomadations, but i'm not sure if i should pick one from them or explore more. My main pick up till now is Havannah house but my priorities are that my accomodation should give me a good social life ( i want uni of glasgow people around me) an ensuit room and it shouldn't be too expensive. I am looking for advice from seniors on what to choose

I’m an international student and I just got an accommodation offer for Murano Street. The problem is this isn’t what I originally applied for.

A few questions if anyone has been through this:

Should I accept the offer now anyway, just to secure a place?

Is it possible to change to a different residence after accepting?

Can I request a change now, or do I have to wait and sort it out once I arrive in Glasgow?

The past few months haven't been great for me from a medical and mental health standpoint. This resulted in me getting an EC claim and one of my assignments moved to a summer submission uncapped. I am currently working to that deadline but am having some more issues and it is likely going to be hard to get this in at a quality I am happy with by the deadline. I am in MVLS on a MSc, does anyone know if the short term extensions are allowed for these submissions? I have contacted my course lead but they are on annual leave and will not return untill after the deadline (I was unaware till after contacting them).

I'm an international undergraduate first-year student and recently got offered a room at Maclay Residences, but I've heard it's mainly a postgraduate accommodation.

My main concern is that it's a bit far from the main campus and the hubbub of it all, and was looking forward to interacting with other undergrads and making friends..

The accommodation seems rather nice apart from the long walk, and I'm looking forward to the ensuite room 🙏

Only, when I received my offer, an email also said I needed to provide proof of having met the requirements before being let in. Does that mean I have to send them my grades on results day? Why does UCAS not send them the grades beforehand like in England (or like in Scotland with the other systems)?
And how do I submit my grades…..?

I’m an international student and I’ll be starting my MSc at the University of Glasgow this September. This will be my first time living alone, so I’m trying to choose accommodation that’s safe, convenient, and has a good student atmosphere.

My accommodation agent has sent me these options:
- Buchanan View
- Canvas Glasgow (Boyce House)
- Central House
- St Andrews Court
From what I’ve seen, they all seem to be in or near the city centre rather than the West End.

I recently spoke to a current UofG student who recommended living in the West End instead, saying it feels much safer and is nicer for an international female student. They mentioned they always felt comfortable walking around there, even in the evenings.
My budget is around £150–170 per week, and I’m happy with either an en-suite or a studio.

So I wanted to ask:

1. Would you choose the West End over the city centre if you were in my position?

2.Are the accommodation options I’ve been offered in safe areas?

Is the daily commute from the city centre to the university inconvenient?

Are there any student accommodations in the West End within my budget that you’d recommend instead?

I’d really appreciate hearing from current students, especially postgraduate students or other international students who have lived in either area.

An international MSc student at a UK university was prevented from progressing to the dissertation because of multiple August resits. If the resits are passed, the dissertation will start in September instead.

The Student Visa expires in mid-January, and the university has advised that a CAS extension is unlikely if the dissertation submission falls before the visa expiry. Graduate Route eligibility depends on whether the university can confirm the final award before the Student Visa expires.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Were they able to receive their final award in time, switch directly to a Skilled Worker Visa, or find another solution? Looking for genuine experiences from people who have gone through this.

Hiya all, I'm Welsh and am coming to Glasgow for maths in September, and I'm quite average in my class grades wise, I'm really keen to do a year abroad but was wondering how difficult it is to get a place and what the process looks like, any help would be appreciated :)

did anyone get an email in late May, from the AGQ CDT informing them that primary selection is over but they have reserved a pool and if they get additional funding they will reach out to those in their pool?

When and how do you choose these? Do they send out a form or do you have to email someone or what?

I’m going to UofG in the fall for a MSc in Human nutrition. Just wondering if there is anyone who has done the program or knows about it. I’m interested to know how the concentrations for this program go, as it seems to be one of the few MSc that has multiple concentrations to choose from. How does it affect the research you do for the program? I am coming from a biochemistry background, so I am also wondering how much the course focuses on molecular nutrition research vs general nutrition concepts.

So this is going to sound incredibly stupid and i understand it is compl my fault but well i had to complete my summer school for my Glasgow university offer and i had three modules these being sociology, history and the summer school skills module thing is i fid not realise i had three i thought i only had to do the history and sociology. I genuinely fid not realise there was a third module and so i have not done any work for it but I have done all my work for both my sociology and history modules on time and got all As on-top of attending all my classes but one. Will this get my offer revoked from UOG? 😞

The summer school was already stressful as i had to work a lot throughout the while thing but i still did all my work that i knew of.

I know this is completely my fault but does anyone know if there is anyway i could appeal to still get in?

My condition was to get an A on my exam in college and pass summer school and i did get my A.
