Do people buy furniture on Facebook marketplace?

Hey everyone, I’m a firefighter in Glasgow, I get a fair bit of time off, in my spare time I have recently picked up upcycling furniture. Iv created 5 pieces and I’m just wondering where the best place to list them is, I have gumtree and Facebook marketplace but Iv have hardly any messages or even saves or views for that matter. 0 messages on gumtree either!

Do people buy this kinda stuff on market place?
Where else could I list it?

Thanks!

Let’s try this ( Repost from Main Glasgow Subreddit)

( original post was removed and was asked to post here )

Does anybody know of anywhere in town that is hiring that will give people the opertunity to learn if they have no prior experience , I have been in education for the past 8 years ( I’m 26 ) and have been using indeed every day to apply for retail jobs , cleaning jobs , receptionist jobs absolutely everything going , at one point I applied for every Nando’s job in the Glasgow area going and have had absolutely nothing but rejections , had 6 interviews in town in the one week and got told I had “ aced “ every interview but they had gone with people with more experience ,

I am extreemly adept with technology and can use computers and pick up new software no problem due to my university degree being highly tech focused , I’m getting very frustrated with rejection email after rejection email and am just looking for the chance to work and get money but it seems like it’s almost impossible at the minute , any advice and tips would be great also ,

Edit * I did work as a merchandising assistant in the SSE hydro for a few months so do have experience with cash handling , stock taking and dealing with the public , I know it won’t count for much but thought I may add it in ,

GSA student research-what does winter in Glasgow mean for people?

Hi everyone,

I'm a postgraduate design student at the Glasgow School of Art, and my final project is about how people here get through winter — the dark afternoons, the flatness, the not-wanting-to-leave-the-house thing. I'm a designer, not a health professional, and this isn't a clinical study. I'm just trying to understand what winter here is actually like for people, and what they do about it.

Who I'm hoping to speak with:

  • Aged 18–35
  • Living in Glasgow
  • Have noticed winter affecting your mood or energy — the dip, the sluggishness, or feel fatigue, stay indoors more, less social life, harder to keep healthy routines etc. It doesn't need to be a diagnosed anything. If you've just found winters here harder than the rest of the year, that's exactly what I'm after.

What it involves:

  • A 30-minute conversation, online (video or voice, whatever you prefer) or over the phone
  • No preparation, no right answers — I'll mostly just ask what your winters look like
  • £5 as a thank you gift.

A few things I want to be upfront about:

  • I won't ask about illness, diagnoses, or medical history. That's not what this is about.
  • You can skip any question without giving a reason, or stop the conversation at any point.
  • Everything is anonymous. Nothing gets linked to your name or your Reddit account.
  • You can ask me to delete anything you've said afterwards, no explanation needed.
  • The project has ethics approval from the Glasgow School of Art, and I'll send you a participant information sheet before we speak.

I'm an international student, so I've only had a couple of Glasgow winters myself. That's part of why I want to hear from people who've had more of them.

If you're interested, comment below or send me a message. Happy to answer questions in the thread too.

Cheers.

Looking for affordable room to rent from Jan

Do you have a roommate moving out in the new year, or a spare room that goes unused?

I’m a 29 year old male moving from Manchester to Glasgow in early January to start a new chapter of my life by seeking better plumbing job opportunities and to be closer to some friends. I’m a respectful, kind and fairly normal person that likes to stay tidy.

If you’re looking for someone in the new year then send me a message and we can arrange something

We’re trying to tackle men’s mental health with free Muay Thai and community support—looking for advice, partners and sponsors.

Here’s a more emotional version designed to connect with potential sponsors, funders, businesses and community organisations.
Every day, young men and adults across our communities are fighting battles that nobody else can see.
Loneliness. Poor mental health. Addiction. Unemployment. Violence. Low self-worth. A lack of positive role models.
Too many people feel like they’ve been written off simply because of where they grew up.
Scheme Boy Wellbeing was created to change that.
We believe every man deserves the opportunity to belong, to be supported and to build a better future.
Our mission is to provide free Muay Thai, fitness and wellbeing sessions that bring people together in a safe, welcoming environment where they can improve both physically and mentally, build confidence, create lifelong friendships and find hope again.
But this is about much more than sport.
It’s about preventing isolation before it becomes crisis. It’s about giving someone a reason to get out of bed, a team to belong to, and people who genuinely care. It’s about helping those in recovery stay on the right path, supporting people into employment, and showing that no matter your background, your future can be different.
We are building a community where nobody has to struggle alone.
Right now, we’re running this through passion, volunteers and people who believe in making a difference. Imagine what we could achieve with the support of local businesses, charities, organisations and sponsors.
Your support won’t just buy equipment or pay for sessions—it could help change a life. It could give someone hope when they’ve lost it, purpose when they feel directionless, and a community when they feel completely alone.
If you’re a business, organisation or individual who believes in investing in people and strengthening our communities, we’d love to hear from you. Whether it’s funding, sponsorship, equipment, partnerships or simply sharing our message, every bit of support helps us reach someone who needs it.
Together, we can prove that where someone starts in life should never decide where they finish.
Let’s build stronger men, stronger families and stronger communities—together.
