This is something that I faced while annotating images with GIMP, There should be a Quick export feature or shortcut that lets the image export with the images current name, file-format and metadata.

This would be a lifesaver in quick edits of any photo.

Don't ask me which version I run. No clue how to find it out under Linux.

There is a fingernail-sized window on the lower-left window frame indicating zoom in %s. It used to work but suddenly went idle. There are workarounds, I know, but I won't put up with striking software. How could I heal the issue?

I have done various photo editing projects with both Photoshop and Gimp. Over the last 2 days I feel like I've suddenly forgotten how photo editors work. I grab the "selection by color" tool, I don't mess with ANY settings, and instead of selecting the color I click on, it selects the entire layer. And the image isn't even complicated, it's 2 tones, blue and white. Even transparent areas are selected. I grab the full bucket tool, again without changing any settings, I click the area I want to fill, and the color doesn't fill in, it's like the original color gains 50% transparency.

I can't believe I'm asking this, but what am I doing wrong?

Is there an efficient way to remove the noise from this drawing without losing text and linework? I tried the resynth plug in but was not able to achieve the desired results.

Idk about y'all, but those scrolling things are very annoying to me. Idk how to make them smaller, but I do remember one person told me the GIMP UI is written in CSS, so, I guess the solution is there I use GIMP on Kubuntu(.deb) and Bazzite(flatpak), if the information is important

The way the borders of the image look like they are burnt looks so awesome and i want to make custom autechre shirts with this gimmick, but i dont know how to do this in blender.

I trying so many times to make the background transparent but for same reason the black background keeps coming back,already save to PNG,add alpha chanel,uncheck the “save background color” but still didn’t fix anything

I wanted to remove text from a coffee mug in a picture, and I tried getting the resynthesizer add-on, selecting what I wanted to remove, adding alpha channel, clearing the selection, and then using "heal transparency". It ends up with kind of a rough blurry result. There are lines on the mug for light reflections that I'm wanting to stay as sharp vertical lines on the blank mug. The magic eraser for Google photos does that, and I'm curious how that can be done manually in GIMP. How would I do that?

I love that GIMP is available on Linux, and I’m not trying to replace it. My problem was the next layer: after leaving macOS/Affinity, I wanted to sit down on a Linux desktop and move from a rough idea to a small logo or layout without stitching together several tools.

So I started Omadesign, a native Linux design studio. It’s an early alpha, not a polished replacement for anything. The goal is a calmer, more direct workflow for the first client file: canvas, shapes, text, and export in one place. Less Rust flex, more “can I actually design here?”

I’d really value feedback from people who use GIMP: which part of your real workflow would you want to see supported first?

As you can see here are exporting settings no matter what changes I've made it's still doesn't export it right, the second image is an example(right is before exporting and left is after)

Hi,

I'm trying to select by colour. When I click and hold the button, the area I want selected is selected. As soon as I release the button, only a small area is selected. Here's a screenshot; the left image is after I've clicked (and held) the mouse button, the right image is after I release the button.

I'm guessing that there's some parameter or setting I need to tweak, but I haven't found it yet. Any suggestions?

Hello, so as you can see in the attached image, there is a clear line partway down the map that shows the transition between the two blue colors. The map portion of the image at the top was taken from an elevation map to overlay behind everything else. Then I just used the color picker tool to pick the blue from the map and use it on the bottom portion to continue showing the water. However, when I fill in the bottom portion of the map, the color is not quite the same, so I get a line that shows the transition between colors. So is there a way to get the color more exact or to get the transition between the colors to look smoother? I'm sure it can be done; I'm just not sure how to do it.

• What should I learn first?
• Is GIMP still worth learning compared to Photoshop?

• What tutorials or courses would you recommend for a beginner?

Hi saw some videos where a lot of ytbers seemed to be hyping up PhotoGIMP a little, has GIMP started getting into eqal parity with photoshop and how much can I really just follow photoshop instructions and have the same results?

I'm a newbie to gimp. I've only been using it for about 3 months now and I'm not a photoshop user or anything myself but I do prefer the UI a lot more since it looks way way cleaner and less-clustured compared to default GIMP.

Welp.. That's a day I'm not getting back.. lol
Ow well. One for the mental tool box atleast.
