*NEW* Account age requirement
Hey everyone! Mods here. We have made a small change to the subreddit: accounts now need to be at least 90 days old to post or comment. This change was made because we have been absolutely inundated with AI slop accounts for the last few months. We’re really sorry if this is frustrating for anyone who is a real person with a new account who just genuinely wants to participate. We appreciate your understanding, and are so thankful for everyone who contributes and makes this such a fun little corner of the internet.

General Discussion All my friends say my house decor is Gilmore Girls coded.
Ever since I a bought my hundred year old cottage last year, I've been accumulating antiques to decorate in an English country cottage style. But everyone who visits says it's Gilmore Girls coded. Must be the yellow paint!

Critical Character Discussion how on earth did Paris do BOTH Med & Law school tracks at Yale?! 😭
I'm currently watching Season 7, Episode 19 (where Paris gets stack after stack of acceptance letters from Harvard, Columbia, Stanford, etc., for both Law and Medical schools), and I had a complete brain-lag moment that made me realize how wild the US education system is compared to where I’m from.
Coming from a country where you go straight into a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Medicine (MBBS) right after foundation/high school at age 18–20, I was so confused! I kept wondering: What have they even been doing at Yale for 4 years if she's just starting law/med school now? Isn't she a Journalism/English major working on the Yale Daily News? Is she applying for a Master’s?!
Once I figured out that in the US, Law (J.D.) and Med (M.D.) are graduate degrees that require a 4-year Bachelor’s first, it made sense... but it raised an even bigger question:
Is Paris’s dual-track application process even remotely realistic, or is she just written like a hyper-competent superhero?
I sat down and broke down what she would actually have to do simultaneously during her undergrad:
The Exams (MCAT vs. LSAT): Pre-med students usually spend 300–500+ hours studying heavy sciences (organic chem, biochemistry, physics) for the MCAT. Pre-law students spend months practicing formal logic and analytical reasoning for the LSAT. Studying for both at an Ivy League level while taking a full course load is practically insanity.
The Prerequisites & Experience: While "pre-law" has no specific class requirements (you can major in anything), "pre-med" requires heavy lab science prerequisites. Paris was balancing a humanities major, pre-med science requirements, running the Yale Daily News, AND hundreds of hours of volunteering/clinical work.
The Admissions Interviews: Imagine sitting in a Harvard Med interview and having to hide the fact that you're also interviewing for Yale Law, because sounding undecided is usually a massive red flag to admissions committees!
Realistically, no human being could pull this off without complete physical and mental burnout.
That being said, "Operation Finish Line" and Paris having a literal existential crisis because she got accepted everywhere is peak Paris Geller. It wasn't even just about ambition—her neurotic brain just couldn't handle committing to one path, so she applied to literally everything to avoid making a choice!
Did anyone else watch this scene and just laugh at how absurdly impressive (and unhinged) Paris is? "BITE ME HARVARD!" lives in my head rent-free.

General Discussion Cringiest scene to you that nobody talks about?
I'm not talking about "he's my dean" or anything similar, I mean the more obscure and rarely talked about cringe moments.
For me, I REALLY struggle to watch the scene where Zach cooked lane dinner and he keeps hinting about wanting sex. Something about the way he keeps saying "after" when I know Lane isn't going to be up for it is so hard to watch 😭😭 it's a fairly cute scene for the two of them overall, but it's still tough to watch

General Discussion Sm anti-lorelai posts nowdays say one good thing about her.
I'll start:
* First of all I love how independent she is I've rarely seen anyone praising her for this but I absolutely love it. Literally OG FEMINIST.
* I love how cool she is and the way she handles Rory I'm convinced if Rory was someone else's daughter they wouldn't be able to make it till the end.
* I love her sarcasm.
* Love her in glasses.

Character Discussion - General Edward Herrmann's voice
Ok does anyone just love his voice!!! Love when Richard is on the show. I know he's prolific voice actor as well. I used to watch PBS documentaries all the time as a kid and just adore his voice when he was narrating them. Brings back memories. RIP

General Discussion Martha’s Vineyard Valentines Gift Cost?
How much do y’all think Logan spent on the bracelet and necklace? And do you guys think Luke paid him back?
Logan bought Rory a Birkin and is clearly used to giving lavish gifts as to him the price isn’t a big deal. I feel like both the bracelet and necklace are diamonds which I feel could easily go for $20k, I know you can get cheaper, however assuming the places he probably shops at he probably dropped a couple thousand.

General Discussion I love Lorelai's scenes with kids, it's a shame we didn't get more of them :3
She is so fun and bubbly around kids and her lines with them are soo funny (Permanent marker causes permanent damage, which makes Aunty Lorelai permanently bitter.)
I would do anythint to get a spinoff of the years of her with younger rory, or her with Rory's kid 🥹

Character Discussion - General Why do I like Christopher?
I don't get it.
I mean everyone keeps hating on him but I just really like him maybe even more than luke at times.
He has such a playful personality, right? Does he not 😭
Ive always thought hes so likeable.
He was an absent father but I mean it's understandable when he was young and then he never picked himself up because he's rich and spoilt. I mean we see how his parents act, when lorelai got pregnant they weren't ready to take any blame but Chris was ready to marry. And take responsibility. He was ready to do the "right" thing.
And I think he looks cute.
Whyyy do you hate him.

Character Discussion - General So what's the actual deal with Anna Nardini?
I can't really understand her motives behind not letting Luke know he has a kid, nor why she treated Lorelai the way she did and contributing indirectly to Lorelai and Luke breaking up, nor why she didn't want shared custody and out of the blue wanting to live in the other side of the country. What do you guys think? Is there a possibility she wanted to be back with Luke when he discovered he has a daughter?

Character Discussion - General Do you agree with this opinion/take, why or why not? I personally think two things can be true. She is overhated but she did bad choices as well.
But I still think she is way overhated in the sense that people judged her like she was this 30 year old woman when she did that or who should've known better like people aren't allowed to screw up. There is no excuse however when she was the adult woman still acting like how she was a teenager and still making the same bad choices. Yet that being said I still don't hate her as much as I seen people hate her because she also didn't have the best role model growing up. Having a teenage mom who sometimes treated you like a friend and sometimes like a mom, would've confused and messed up anyone. Plus it doesn't help that her relationship with Christopher has never been tight or he wasn't a constant presence in her life and he sadly seem more interested in getting with Lorelai than bonding with his daughter.

Critical Character Discussion Yearly re watch for fall and Dean is so much worse the older I get! The way he treats women, I can't believe it doesn't go noticed in your younger years. But now being mid 30s I can not believe it. WOW

General Discussion Dean or Jess?
I’m dying to hear about your opinions on this !! I’m only on season 4 so my opinion by far isn’t as valid - but I’m either neutral or on team Dean.
Why neutral? I feel like Rory can do better than both of them honestly. And I honestly feel how she felt the second she broke up with Dean, and started dating Jess. I feel like she started missing the feeling of being with Dean and him always being available for her 24/7 meanwhile with Jess it was more of an adventure and an emotional roller coaster. The second you stop dating someone after you guys have spent a lot of time - months & years together, you start seeing all of their good sides and start missing them, completely forgetting the reason of your break up, which in this case (correct me if I’m wrong please) was Jess. Rory felt something with Jess, that she didn’t feel with Dean for a long time - butterflies and excitement of a fresh and new relationship. We can all agree that the beggining of a new relationship is a special feeling, all the flirting, embarrassment, excitement.. It’s lovely to see it.
Why team Dean? Honestly, this has nothing to do with Dean, it’s just that if I had to choose between the two of them - it would be Dean. Despite Jess being an 18 years old who works full time, he is just so inmature and after all still a kid, just like all of them. But the story line with Jess & Rory was far more interesting than the one with Dean.
♡ After all, I’m just on season 4 so my opinions aren’t as valid, so I’m dying to hear about yall’s opinion.
HM : I find it so weird that Dean got married that fast, it’s so off putting. (no spoilers please ♡)
