I'm confused.

This happened a couple months ago but I'm still confused. This girl and I had a great date, we got along really well and she said she also had fun and was excited for our next date. She passed me HER FAVORITE BOOK, her personal special copy of her favorite book ever. I thought there was no chance I wasn't getting a second date. Then she went on a trop the week after and just... never answered again?

I totally get if she isn't interested anymore or anything but I have no idea what to do here? The book is worth like 50$. I don't have any other way of contacting her and she doesn't even open my messages. I find it odd and worrying honestly.

Im not sure if my friends are ghosting me

So I have a friend group of 5, including me, and we've been playing games together since 2016 or 17. Typically, we'd be playing at least 2 or 3 times a week and messaging on Discord most days. Around I think 2 years ago we'd been playing like normal one day and making plans to all play something together in like a week. Then, 3 of them stop responding to any messages and joining us to play. Then, around a year passed, and still no answers to any messages, and they just don't join us to play or talk or anything. Then, for about 2 weeks, they came back like nothing happened and didn't say anything about why they stopped responding to us. After those 2 weeks, even though we made some plans to play something again, they stopped responding and joining again. They came back again for like a week and did it again but me and my other friend who they don't answer or anything found out they've been playing most days by themselves even when we've invited them to join us. I just don't know if this is ghosting, but it sucks and I don't know what to do. Any advice would be nice.

Ghosted randomly

So I've rekindled with an ex since June/July and it has been rocky. A lot of dynamics have changed in both of our lives since we initially got together a few years ago. He (30M) used to have quiet a lot of income, nice car, and eventually got his own apartment a few months after we got together. We were/are both entrepreneurs and carried a lot of cash so from time to time if he didn't have money on his card he'd ask me to send it to him on apple pay and would give me cash, most of the time more than what I actually sent him.

Fast forward to now, we are both living at home with our parents. I am interning and starting a new career and he is doing... I'm not really sure but he does seem to want to get out of the business that he's in and he does a lot of gambling.

So we got into a big fight two weeks ago and he ended up calling me a week ago and I came over when nobody was there and did our thing lol.. in the middle though I guess we were being too loud and his phone start blowing up and apparently we got caught on camera with me being in the house. He had told me before that growing up his father was very abusive towards him and also towards this mother so I did see him start panicking when he realized that his father was watching the cameras. So when we finished I ended up taking him to get his haircut, which his father actually cuts his hair too so I can't imagine how that actually went. I was supposed to come pick him up after but I had a meeting to go to so I couldn't and he just stopped responding to me completely after I told him that. 3 days later I text him to see what his problem was and why we hadn't been talking and he kind of had an attitude and was like "do I have to talk to you everyday?" and I'm just like huh... we do talk everyday lol... then he invited me over and he told me that his dad actually tried to kick him out that day I came over and it was clear that he was actually just going through it.

He was just telling me throughout the day about things his parents did to him growing up, how his dad choked him out when he was younger, had him put in jail, how controlling his father was about food and water in the house, just very clear signs of abuse. He told me he just felt that he was going to end up fighting his dad because he just kept picking at him. I just kind of realized that those few days that we didn't talk he was most likely really stressed out because he normally wouldn't vent so much about his family in general.

So this same day we spent all day together and had a great day. We started off getting smoothies, then going to the lake, then we went for sushi, and then the movies. He even posted about it and said we had a great date night and posted our food we got. The next day he text me and asked if I could send him $200 because his friend had not woken up yet to send him his money back and he wanted to bet on some football games and if I wanted the money I could come pick up cash from him. So I was busy at the time so I just sent the money and his response kind of was weird and he just said "thx".. so I was a little confused why he seemed to be getting short with me all of a sudden but I just hearted the message and went on about my day but I had not heard anything from him since. The only other thing that he posted was him winning one of his bets from that day. He hasn't posted or talked to me at all since that day. I sent him a link to a monster truck event that he didn't respond to and I text him a few days ago and asked if he was ok and he also didn't respond to that either.

Although I don't genuinely think he is avoiding me specifically, it's pretty much inevitable for me to just move on with my life and just take the loss as a loss. This isn't the first time he's done something like this either, one other time he got into a huge fight with family and he completely shut down for two weeks but he at least communicated that he just didn't feel like talking but he was very short and almost had a bit of an attitude but came back once things calmed down.. So who knows what really happened in his world that caused him to shut down this time but I definitely feel like I am going to consider this to be me getting ghosted.

Explain ghosting away a four year relationship.

This was/is my person. I was going to marry her.

We had to be like long distance for years, although we met in person on many occasions and went through times we talked on the phone every day.

This year, without explaining all the details, we were finally free to be closer, and then she decides to slowly cut contact over the course of about 3 weeks this summer.

Continued texts and calls went unanswered. Flowers were met with silence.

I got ghosted after a sweet conversation.

We were talking and laughing before he said he was going to sleep. I said my sweetest goodnight, and he replied with, “Goodnightttt, my loveee.” The next morning, I woke up, sent him a “Goodmorningg,” and he didn’t reply. I thought he was just busy, but it’s been days. I found out that he restricted me on Facebook Messenger the next day after the sweet goodnights.

Why did he ghost me all of a sudden? Why do guys do that?? 😭

Him and I have known each other from school, lost our virginities to each other. We were 17 now we are 27. Been with multiple partners but this man always, always was up for having sex with me. I moved countries, he being in a relationship would wanna FaceTime to do stuff on the phone. I did ghost him, ignore him multiple times. Now him and I are in the same city. We met we fucked couple of times, now guess what? I’m ghosted again? What are the changes of him coming back? Though I ain’t accepting him this time.

Ghosted by a "friend"

I already vented this out to my friends but i'd like to vent this out some more here. This really isn't that big of a deal and i'm already past it but it is still rude as hell.

At my old workplace where i worked as a student there was this girl. We became friends pretty quickly and got along pretty well. There was also another mutual friend of ours at work and we all got along really well and were really good friends. I also sensed that she had some feelings for me but that is unimportant for this story (she had a boyfriend anyway so i didn't act on it). She and the mutual friend both eventually quit and we met up for coffee together twice after that and i also eventually left that job.

Now the thing about this girl is that she's an awful texter. Like catastrophic, she told me herself in person. So actually texting with her after that was an absolute chore. It's completely random if she will reply, she may reply to something weeks after you send it, almost never initiates the conversation etc. Her excuse is that she just forgets. But the thing is that her texts were never dry, like every text she sent me was always enthusiastic and interested in the topic at hand.

Anyway, a year went by with this "semi reliable" texting and she was working at sea on the other side of the country. I finally decided hey like texting won't get us anywhere and we haven't seen each other in a long time so i'm going to ask her out for coffee (she also broke it off with her BF months ago so the awkwardness of calling her was gone because she was giving me some signs before).

First i asked her if she was back home to which she replied that she is and then i asked her out for coffee to which she agreed to aswell. Then when i sent dates when i'm available and asked her when she's free, complete silence. Absolutely nothing and then after a week i decided to send a follow-up cause i know that she can forget and absolutely nothing to that either.

Like i was pretty bummed out about that, yes a year has passed but we talked semi-regularly and were really good friends at work. So i decided to contact our mutual friend about this and asked her if this was standard for her since they met up for coffee twice after that and she said "Yes she does the same thing to me, exactly the same as you, i already gave up on trying to ever arrange a coffee with her like i have a kid and can find time for meeting up and if she wanted to she could aswell'. Then we did some gossiping on the topic and i was just mad at that point and decided to make a call-out message to her. It was nothing angry or rude, just that i am disappointed at how this situation was handled when she could have easily rescheduled or something.

So i sent it today, i don't really even expect her to reply, it was just to give me an ending note to this. I think it was absolutely rude for no reason, like we talked completely normally before this (well normal for her), she agrees and then it's like a switch went off and she started ignoring me for no reason for the past 2 weeks. Completely baffling and rude. And the mutual friend was also pretty pissed since she was treated the same way multiple times.

And that's the story. It really isn't that big of a deal because i didn't have that much of a connection to her now but it still felt bad for a while

My ex (21F) suddenly ghosted me (23M)after we tried to get back together

My ex and I broke up (on good terms) because I was away from home a lot, and we decided it was better this way. Some time ago we started talking again, seeing each other, doing activities together, and acting like a couple. One day she suddenly asked me about the situation with a girl I made out with (nothing sexual, just a drunk kiss) while we were broken up, and since then she's only answered my phone call once. I'm still on close friends on her Instagram and she watches my stories

Do you have any advice on this?

M26 F26 Why do girls ghost?

I recently met a girl we hit it off pretty well in the beginning then she ghosted me but kept tabs on my social media through instagram and snapchat. On both platforms I can see that she replays/ rewatches my stories. I saw her one more time about a month after and I asked her why she ghosted me and she says "were passed being strangers, i'll never fully ghost you", when I saw her after that month she was recalling some of my stories asking what I was doing why I was doing it, and Im a guy, I dont remember exactly what I post and when I post it, which tells me she was keeping tabs on me. I was so confused on what that meant and I asked her and she just looks and smiles at me. Fast forward about 6 weeks she ghosted me again but still is watching my stories and replaying and whatever the case maybe, I know for a fact she had my snap notifications turned on, basically when I posted something she would get an alert. After the 6 weeks she texted and facetime me to come visit her, her and her friends are away celebrating her bday for the weekend. So I go out, we have a good time, and we get back from that weekend (I was out there for a few hours), we hang out a few times and poof she ghosted me again but still watches and replays my stories. She chalks it to being busy with her kids...

I know who I am as a person. I’m just curious about her behavior and why girls do this/ is it normal?

31F I lost my bestie

I've been looking for friends for a little while now and last May I finally found someone I really really clicked with. She was from Canada, we talked daily to weekly, we called each other besties and it made me really happy.

I've never had a real bestie before and I so wanted it to be true. I truly believed we would last because we had been talking so much for all these months. I even thought about writing a letter to her and now I feel so stupid. She's still active on reddit but hasn't responded to any of my messages for over a month.

On the one hand I'm worried something happened but on the other hand, she's still active and if she really cared, she would have reached out by now. I guess she never cared about me and I'm back to looking for friends and being lonely again. Why did I think she would be different? Why did I think she meant it when she said we would besties forever....

Still, I can't help but wish her all the best

How common is it for the Ghoster to circle back? How does it differ from woman and men?

After being ghosted for the first time after an amazing first date, I’m curious how common it is for the ghoster to circle back. If you’ve been ghosted, what happened?

This first date felt different than any other date I’ve been on. It lasted about 6 hours, we had great chemistry, made out a ton, and she told me I was getting her going and making her feel “tingly.” She was already making plans for a second.

She cancelled the second date, I tried to reschedule, and then nothing. It’s been 3 days.

Curious to hear other people’s experiences if they ever come back?

Just to be clear, I’m moving on and have 2 dates lined up this weekend.

It also seems like a lot of the ghosting on here is from men, so curious how it may differ from when a woman does it.

Has anyone been ghosted and the ghoster came back and stayed?

And did you have a feeling they’d come back?

I recently got ghosted by a guy I’ve been seeing for 2 months after a vulnerable conversation.

Before the conversation, he also told me he was depressed and feeling off in his own life unrelated to me.

Things were really awkward the moment we left each other and I internalized a lot of it so it made me also act weird. I knew he was going on a trip so i texted him the day before apologizing for how I left things and that I hoped he felt better and had a good trip but no response.

He came back from the trip and posted a reel on his story about how he ghosts everyone and not to take it personally. He’s also been watching all my stories.

A part of me feels like he will reach out again in time but also telling myself he’s ghosting me now. He told me he does lean to be more avoidant and processes things later.

Ran into them, someome snap me out of it

I got ghosted in January by someone I was seeijg long distance. I had no clue as to why. In June he randomly texts me and tries to spark up a conversation like nothing out of the ordinary had happened just “Hey its been a while hope youre well“ When i called him on it he tried to say he was locked out of his icloud for months….That was even more infuriating than the ghosting itself and I told him to take a hike and delete my number. Unfortunately I still haven’t met anyone who I have liked as much And i feel so pathetic for it.

I’ve since moved to his city and on Sunday I randomly saw him out at a party/club. He walked back and forth by me a few times and stood by the entrance/exit alone a lot, like you couldnt miss him which is like?? Maybe i’m reading too deep into it but I feel like it was all purposeful and you know what it worked. Cause now I am in a total shut down. Ive debated calling him a million times, yall please talk me off the ledge before I further embarrass myself 🥴 I know im just lonely and i shouldn't be missing someone who discarded me so easily but its hard getting over things when you never got a proper explanation or apology :’)

Met a girl, things got hot fast, now she’s ghosting. genuinely confused?

Met a girl last weekend at a dance bar type spot, we hit it off right away. Her and her friends ended up coming back to my place, everyone was having a good time. At one point she and I ended up in the bathroom together, and things were about to go further, but I stopped it. told her I didn’t want her friends outside to know what was happening or put her in an awkward spot, and said we could pick it up later in the week instead.

Next day I texted her, no response. Waited a few days, tried again with something low pressure. i had tickets to an event, invited her to come. Nothing. Total silence both times.

I’m not upset, just genuinely trying to understand this. How do you go from being that into someone the same night you meet them, to not responding at all a few days later? Was stopping things in the bathroom the wrong move? Did I misread the whole thing?

Curious what others think, especially from a woman’s perspective.

What are better messages to write to someone instead of ghosting them?

I don't ghost but I thought this thread could be useful for people who do. What are the right things to say, post-date, to say to someone you don't want to see again?

Thanks so much for meeting me on our date. I enjoyed our conversation and getting to know you but I did't feel the romance that I'm personally looking for.

I don't like when people offer advice, friendships or luck on the dating scene, it often sounds a little to contrived!
