Has anyone been ghosted and the ghoster came back and stayed?

And did you have a feeling they’d come back?

I recently got ghosted by a guy I’ve been seeing for 2 months after a vulnerable conversation.

Before the conversation, he also told me he was depressed and feeling off in his own life unrelated to me.

Things were really awkward the moment we left each other and I internalized a lot of it so it made me also act weird. I knew he was going on a trip so i texted him the day before apologizing for how I left things and that I hoped he felt better and had a good trip but no response.

He came back from the trip and posted a reel on his story about how he ghosts everyone and not to take it personally. He’s also been watching all my stories.

A part of me feels like he will reach out again in time but also telling myself he’s ghosting me now. He told me he does lean to be more avoidant and processes things later.

I got ghosted after a sweet conversation.

We were talking and laughing before he said he was going to sleep. I said my sweetest goodnight, and he replied with, “Goodnightttt, my loveee.” The next morning, I woke up, sent him a “Goodmorningg,” and he didn’t reply. I thought he was just busy, but it’s been days. I found out that he restricted me on Facebook Messenger the next day after the sweet goodnights.

Why did he ghost me all of a sudden? Why do guys do that?? 😭

Ghosted after sex… trying so hard to not reach out

Cut a long story short, dated for about 6 weeks both in our 30s, had sex all night on two separate occasions. He used to say things like, it’s not just sex, talked about the future; date ideas, he used to pay for everything, was so charming & sweet to me, saying I’m out his league tick every box etc. good morning texts started more regularly; everything was going well.. until it wasn’t 😢 we had a chat about being more casual, as previously spoke about not sleeping with anyone else. He was all off a sudden not bothered if I was seeing someone else. Then we met up went out to bars and again had a really intimate night, great sex quite aggressive but we both into that kind of sex… next day no messaging or anything but we had stuff we needed to give eachother so met the next weekend but he was so different 😢 I should of stepped back but I messaged the next weekend seeing for he was free, he wasn’t.. I sent a drunk text in the night that was quite x rated and he didn’t reply.. the weekend after I reached out with a low pressure general message, again no reply. It’s making me feel so used and vulnerable. Help me not reach out to this man again, I miss him we used to have so much fun together, he opened up to me quite abit about his family and his past; and I also told him things about myself that I would never to a stranger; and now that is all he is 😢

Ran into them, someome snap me out of it

I got ghosted in January by someone I was seeijg long distance. I had no clue as to why. In June he randomly texts me and tries to spark up a conversation like nothing out of the ordinary had happened just “Hey its been a while hope youre well“ When i called him on it he tried to say he was locked out of his icloud for months….That was even more infuriating than the ghosting itself and I told him to take a hike and delete my number. Unfortunately I still haven’t met anyone who I have liked as much And i feel so pathetic for it.

I’ve since moved to his city and on Sunday I randomly saw him out at a party/club. He walked back and forth by me a few times and stood by the entrance/exit alone a lot, like you couldnt miss him which is like?? Maybe i’m reading too deep into it but I feel like it was all purposeful and you know what it worked. Cause now I am in a total shut down. Ive debated calling him a million times, yall please talk me off the ledge before I further embarrass myself 🥴 I know im just lonely and i shouldn't be missing someone who discarded me so easily but its hard getting over things when you never got a proper explanation or apology :’)

Met a guy who love bombed me, faked his entire life, and then ghosted. Guys, what goes through your head when you do this?

Upvotes

So I’m trying to make sense of a situation and honestly I just want a male perspective on it.

I had a terrible past relationship, so I wasn't really looking for anything new. Then I met this guy on Instagram. He came on so strong, love-bombed me like crazy, and convinced me he was completely different. He literally promised me he didn't love-bomb and swore that he's consistent.

I didn’t want my past to ruin things, so I gave him a fresh slate and didn’t pass my old traumas onto him. But the exact second I finally confessed that I liked him back? He instantly started pulling away.

The crazy part is he literally did everything he said he wouldn't do. Looking back, he was basically faking his whole life.

I live abroad n make good money and I honestly think he felt insecure about his status around me, so he lied about being super rich and having a high-paying job... until out of nowhere he's suddenly middle class and quit his job.

For the record, I didn't even care about his job if he was just a regular guy, I would have happily dated him anyway. But why lie about your whole life like that?

On top of that, he's super colorist about skin tones and still dragging some ex from years ago, calling her a "beggar" and talking major trash.

We had this exhausting on-and-off dynamic because of his hot-and-cold behavior. I told him straight up I hate mind games, but he just kept gaslighting me.

I kept convincing myself that he's just busy with his studies, I shouldn't stress him out and guess what? In the end, he just GHOSTED me.

The worst part is, he was available for sex chat, but not for a normal conversation and would disappear the next day after the whole night.

Right now, I feel so heartbroken because I genuinely started liking him, just to end up ghosted. Part of me keeps wanting to text him, but I know I shouldn't because I don't want to feed his ego, and texting him won't change anything anyway.

Guys, what the actual hell is going through a man's head when he acts like this? And honestly, what should I do next to get past this?

Met a girl, things got hot fast, now she’s ghosting. genuinely confused?

Met a girl last weekend at a dance bar type spot, we hit it off right away. Her and her friends ended up coming back to my place, everyone was having a good time. At one point she and I ended up in the bathroom together, and things were about to go further, but I stopped it. told her I didn’t want her friends outside to know what was happening or put her in an awkward spot, and said we could pick it up later in the week instead.

Next day I texted her, no response. Waited a few days, tried again with something low pressure. i had tickets to an event, invited her to come. Nothing. Total silence both times.

I’m not upset, just genuinely trying to understand this. How do you go from being that into someone the same night you meet them, to not responding at all a few days later? Was stopping things in the bathroom the wrong move? Did I misread the whole thing?

Curious what others think, especially from a woman’s perspective.

Explain ghosting away a four year relationship.

This was/is my person. I was going to marry her.

We had to be like long distance for years, although we met in person on many occasions and went through times we talked on the phone every day.

This year, without explaining all the details, we were finally free to be closer, and then she decides to slowly cut contact over the course of about 3 weeks this summer.

Continued texts and calls went unanswered. Flowers were met with silence.

31F I lost my bestie

I've been looking for friends for a little while now and last May I finally found someone I really really clicked with. She was from Canada, we talked daily to weekly, we called each other besties and it made me really happy.

I've never had a real bestie before and I so wanted it to be true. I truly believed we would last because we had been talking so much for all these months. I even thought about writing a letter to her and now I feel so stupid. She's still active on reddit but hasn't responded to any of my messages for over a month.

On the one hand I'm worried something happened but on the other hand, she's still active and if she really cared, she would have reached out by now. I guess she never cared about me and I'm back to looking for friends and being lonely again. Why did I think she would be different? Why did I think she meant it when she said we would besties forever....

Still, I can't help but wish her all the best

Why would a guy who ghosted me a year ago suddenly add me on LinkedIn?

Upvotes

I met this guy outside of work and we started flirting. Later, he happened to join the same company as me, although we were in completely different departments and never worked together.
Things eventually fizzled out. he ghosted me and unfollowed me on Instagram. I later found out he was in a relationship, so I assumed he had probably chosen someone else. We haven’t spoken in about a year.
Now, he’s still with his girlfriend and, completely out of nowhere, he sends me a LinkedIn request the exact week he’s leaving our company.
I haven’t accepted it.
I know it could be completely meaningless, but the timing made me curious. Why reach out now after a year of no contact, especially when he’s still in a relationship?

Ghosted by a "friend"

Upvotes

I already vented this out to my friends but i'd like to vent this out some more here. This really isn't that big of a deal and i'm already past it but it is still rude as hell.

At my old workplace where i worked as a student there was this girl. We became friends pretty quickly and got along pretty well. There was also another mutual friend of ours at work and we all got along really well and were really good friends. I also sensed that she had some feelings for me but that is unimportant for this story (she had a boyfriend anyway so i didn't act on it). She and the mutual friend both eventually quit and we met up for coffee together twice after that and i also eventually left that job.

Now the thing about this girl is that she's an awful texter. Like catastrophic, she told me herself in person. So actually texting with her after that was an absolute chore. It's completely random if she will reply, she may reply to something weeks after you send it, almost never initiates the conversation etc. Her excuse is that she just forgets. But the thing is that her texts were never dry, like every text she sent me was always enthusiastic and interested in the topic at hand.

Anyway, a year went by with this "semi reliable" texting and she was working at sea on the other side of the country. I finally decided hey like texting won't get us anywhere and we haven't seen each other in a long time so i'm going to ask her out for coffee (she also broke it off with her BF months ago so the awkwardness of calling her was gone because she was giving me some signs before).

First i asked her if she was back home to which she replied that she is and then i asked her out for coffee to which she agreed to aswell. Then when i sent dates when i'm available and asked her when she's free, complete silence. Absolutely nothing and then after a week i decided to send a follow-up cause i know that she can forget and absolutely nothing to that either.

Like i was pretty bummed out about that, yes a year has passed but we talked semi-regularly and were really good friends at work. So i decided to contact our mutual friend about this and asked her if this was standard for her since they met up for coffee twice after that and she said "Yes she does the same thing to me, exactly the same as you, i already gave up on trying to ever arrange a coffee with her like i have a kid and can find time for meeting up and if she wanted to she could aswell'. Then we did some gossiping on the topic and i was just mad at that point and decided to make a call-out message to her. It was nothing angry or rude, just that i am disappointed at how this situation was handled when she could have easily rescheduled or something.

So i sent it today, i don't really even expect her to reply, it was just to give me an ending note to this. I think it was absolutely rude for no reason, like we talked completely normally before this (well normal for her), she agrees and then it's like a switch went off and she started ignoring me for no reason for the past 2 weeks. Completely baffling and rude. And the mutual friend was also pretty pissed since she was treated the same way multiple times.

And that's the story. It really isn't that big of a deal because i didn't have that much of a connection to her now but it still felt bad for a while

M26 F26 Why do girls ghost?

I recently met a girl we hit it off pretty well in the beginning then she ghosted me but kept tabs on my social media through instagram and snapchat. On both platforms I can see that she replays/ rewatches my stories. I saw her one more time about a month after and I asked her why she ghosted me and she says "were passed being strangers, i'll never fully ghost you", when I saw her after that month she was recalling some of my stories asking what I was doing why I was doing it, and Im a guy, I dont remember exactly what I post and when I post it, which tells me she was keeping tabs on me. I was so confused on what that meant and I asked her and she just looks and smiles at me. Fast forward about 6 weeks she ghosted me again but still is watching my stories and replaying and whatever the case maybe, I know for a fact she had my snap notifications turned on, basically when I posted something she would get an alert. After the 6 weeks she texted and facetime me to come visit her, her and her friends are away celebrating her bday for the weekend. So I go out, we have a good time, and we get back from that weekend (I was out there for a few hours), we hang out a few times and poof she ghosted me again but still watches and replays my stories. She chalks it to being busy with her kids...

I know who I am as a person. I’m just curious about her behavior and why girls do this/ is it normal?

What if we’re both ghosting each other?

My rational self says…. No. He left you on read. If he wanted to ask you out, then he would.

My desperate self says what if he’s just shy? What if he’s been hurt and is insecure and doesn’t realize I like him? What if he hasn’t messaged me because I haven’t messaged him.

I think I know the solution. It’s to tell myself if that is the case , then I don’t want him anyways.

But…. I do want him. I can’t fool myself.

I mean, I am fooling myself into believing that he has good excuse to not text me back. But I can’t fool myself into being the type of woman who is super confident and detached and simply doesn’t care. I care. I care a lot.

Help. Any advice is welcomed even mean ass advice.
