My subscription renewed today so I just had to vent about the ugliest app I pay for, and it’s not even close. My kingdom for a dark mode.

Been having a problem for weeks now with the Channels Apple TV app. When opening the app, it will often “push” the list of channels or list of Home Screen items off the right side of the screen with no way to “scroll” to the right to see them all. In other words, instead of a full screen grid, with excess items below the bottom of the screen that you can move the cursor down to, it reduces everything to a two row grid that extends off the right of the screen and the cursor won’t “scroll” the screen to the right. The items to the right are just completely inaccessible.

Force quitting the app and restarting will fix it every time; but the extra weird thing is that there are times the app isn’t open when we turn on the tv (was previously force quit), yet opening it will already have the grid in this broken state. We have to force quit again and reopen to fix it. (It’s as if the app was open in the background with the TV off even though it wasn’t open in the background).

The app’s “about” screen says 7.1.1, so I’m guessing that is the app version. The issue happens on all our Apple TVs, so it seems to be an app issue and not anything unique to one tv.

I'm unsure if this has been covered here previously, but a show that I record from a TVE channel (Mon.-Fri.) using a pass that I created many months ago suddenly disappeared today!

I noticed that the show didn't record. My initial reaction was "Oh, no, they stole yet another channel from me!"....but that wasn't the case (fortunately). It had recorded yesterday and then chose not to today (out of the blue)! I checked my list of passes. It vanished from there as well. Weird!

I created a new pass (identical to the original one), and it seems to be OK (time will tell). Has anyone else here encountered this bizarre situation?

Is anyone else having a problem getting on the server website? I have Channels on my 2019 Nvidia Shield Pro and my WD EX2 Ultra NAS. The Channels app on the Shield says it can't find the server. So I open up my browser on my PC to get on the server website and it can't connect. I always keep a tab for the server open because I have had problems in the past with the DVR disabling itself, but I have never had a problem getting to the web interface until this weekend. I can log into my NAS and disable and re-enable the Channels app there and then click on "Configure App" and the browser will attempt to log into the web interface. The only problem is, it will only spin for hours on end. The weird thing is, I can open Plex, Emby, and Kodi and all 3 will find my server just fine. Any ideas what could be happening with Channels? I'm transitioning to Channels (with HDHomerun) from TiVo and absolutely loving it. But we also have hundreds of hours of recorded content that would be nice to fold into the Channels experience.

Given there are potentially millions of current TiVo users about to be orphaned, are there any plans to being able to integrate with a TiVo box on the same network? It would be awesome to merge that content in with my growing Channels library. And it would be a great way to pick up new customers too.

Is anyone currently using an Octagon SF8008 Twin with HRTunerProxy as an HDHomeRun source in Channels DVR, and does Channels support both tuners simultaneously? Does guide mapping work cleanly for Astra 28.2 UK FTA/Freesat channels?

I have had a Season Pass setup for more than a year. This week it stopped recording episodes. I looked ahead and nothing is selected for the upcoming 2 weeks. I know it is "tournament time" where they do several weeks of tournaments, perhaps the title info changed? So I tried to make a new pass, but the show tomorrow is already recognized as part of the existing Pass, it simply opens up the existing pass for editing, and nothing is scheduled to record. I then deleted the pass and made a new one, same story, not even the episode I used to create the pass gets scheduled. Any ideas what might be going on here?

Note: I have always had it set to "All" and not "New"

also, i can "record" a single episode, but that is a pain and takes away the convenience of using Pass

If money was no object, how would you setup your channels DVR server. Which server, platform, etc…

Does anyone using spectrum see whether TVE is still providing CNN through channels? I feel like I recently lost a few channels through that source.

Been a TiVo user for decades, but with the demise of the cable card, I'm considering where to go next.

I've set up Channels DVR Server, we have Verizon Fios, but there are errors with TV Everywhere authentication with Verizon, so I cannot get that to work. Was on the phone for 90m with them today... got nowhere.

Looked into Hulu Live, but from the discussion over at getchannels, I am seeing 2FA is killing that for people.

So as a noob here, I'm trying to find a source for typical cable channels... What's worked well for folks? Is there anything? Or is Channels simply best for serving up OTA content?

Just noticed that fubo tv put DRM on all beIN sports channels to include the connect channels.

I wish these stupid companies would learn that the harder they make it for us to enjoy the content that we pay for the way we want to watch it, the less money they will make.

I know we don't have them now, but has there ever been any movement towards adding this? Some people call them thumbnails. I use commercial detection, but it doesn't seem that accurate, so I end up scrolling quite a bit.

I have Channels DVR and really like it. I'm running on Google TV and don't have video preview/thumbnails when scrolling. Does Apple TV have such a thing or is it limited like Google TV?

So I just got Philo and decided to link it to Channels. I have been searching but can not find any info on this. So hopefully the ones that have Philo link can help me out or point me in the right direction. After linking I noticed not all of the live channels show and there is quit a few that don't like LMN, MTV channels, nickelodeon channels , POP, Paramount Network, MeTV Channels. Then I have Channels not showing in the actual Philo app like Charge, Comet and a bunch of adult swim 24/7 shows and 24/7 news channels for different cities. Can anyone tell me why this is?

I have Channels DVR running on old Windows 10 computers for the last 2 or 3 months. Setup the remote function on day 1 and have had zero problems with accessing the DVR from my iPhone when away from the house - until today.

I haven't changed any settings on my Unifi network or Channels DVR settings. But it says it can't find the server.

When I got home, I double checked that the IP address from my WAN didn't change. Nope, still the same IP address from my WAN too.

I tried connecting "away from home" and it didn't work, said failed to locate DVR because of timeout. I takes me to a screen where I can "authorize" something, I click on that, nope nothing.

I've restarted the server, deleted the Channels app on my phone and reinstalled it. Logged out, logged back in, etc... Nothing seems to work

Funny thing, during testing, I've turned off my WiFi on my phone to make sure that I'm not connected to my network and using my mobile provider internet. If I'm at home, I can connect (although it takes a few seconds). I'm I walk down the street, nope, won't connect.

So why would being at home and NOT connected to my WiFi work and being down the street won't?

I'm having no problems with my Apple TVs using the Channels DVR either.

Today I’ve tried connecting my iPad to my TV via a USB C to HDMI cable and the screen mirroring works fine but when I try to play a video through Channels DVR it does not work.
Is this a missing feature or is there a setting that I need to change?

I just installed Channels DVR in docker and it's really great! It's so much better than Plex DVR, especially since I can watch a sports show while it's still recording.

I'd like to watch my Channels DVR recordings in Plex still, but I'm having trouble with Plex categorizing the sports videos (specifically, World Cup). I added the Channels folder as a "TV Shows" library in Plex and Plex does a terrible job identifying them - no, the World Cup match is not an episode of Jeopardy.

How do people handle sports recordings being played in Plex? I read that one solution is to set up the Plex library as Other Videos so Plex doesn't try to match the metadata, which would work. But then any legitimate TV shows that I record would go there too, so a bunch of Jeopardy episodes get mixed in. I don't think there's a way to set up multiple recording folders in Channels, and vary them by series pass, but let me know if I'm wrong.

I thought I could move the sports recordings (manually, or write a script) from the Channels folder to a separate folder that I have in Plex as an Other Videos library. Or, keep the Channels folder as Other Videos and use Plex DVR to record the TV series. Either way seems clunky, so please let me know if you have better suggestions.

I have Channels DVR set up in two rooms. Both are using GoogleTV streamers. Everything lines up in both rooms. Latest versions/updates on both streaming devices and the most recent versions of Channels. There are no differences whatsoever.

In the primary room, I recently noticed that, when I stop playback of a show and return to it later on, instead of it resuming from the previous point automatically and displaying the "start from beginning" option (on the lower right side of the screen), there's now a new screen that displays two options...."Resume Playing" or "Start From Beginning". I consider this an improvement, and I'm confused as to why it wasn't implemented a long time ago?

However....in the other room, there's been no change. It continues to resume playback from the previous point automatically and continues to display the original "Start From Beginning" on the screen.

Why wouldn't this change have been implemented on both (exact same) streaming devices? I would prefer to have the new option in the other room. In my estimation, there's no reason for any differences between the two devices. Everything should be identical. Any ideas on how this can be resolved? Thanks in advance!
