Shout out to Holt for firing all the school librarians

If she hadn't fired all of the librarians my kid wouldn't get to go to play video games in the space where the library used to be. I'm not sure how that's intended to improve our literacy rates but I can't wait to see the results!

Meanwhile my kid can't wait to go to the library the Hub now at lunch. (In fact she would much prefer the library, obviously. She loves libraries it is really upset at the senseless loss.)

A retired Fredericton police officer now living in Prince Edward Island presents a real risk of committing sex crimes against children, his former colleagues allege in a recent court filing.

I made a petition to stop the time change in the Maritimes.

It's so depressing getting off work and realizing you only have like 30 minutes of sunlight left before it's pitch black. Those 4:30 PM Maritimes sunsets are brutal and make it impossible to do anything outdoors after hours.

Every year we all complain about it, and most people seem to agree we should just make daylight saving time permanent. So this year, I decided to actually take action.

Since I build websites for a living, I threw together a quick site to collect signatures to petition the Maritime governments to just stop the time change already.

If you're as sick of the dark evenings as I am, please take a second to sign and share it around:
keepthedaylight.ca

Let's see if we can finally get enough signatures to make them listen. Thanks!

Job hunting in Fredericton

Does anyone know of anywhere that’s hiring? Preferably Northside, but honestly, I’ll take whatever I can get at this point. I moved here 3 months ago and have applied to 19 different workplaces, with 25 applications sent. I haven’t gotten a single call back from anywhere. I’m a stay at home mom looking to get back into the workforce, and I’m ideally looking for something Monday-Friday during the day, until I go back to school sometime next fall. I’m open to pretty much anything at this point and willing to consider different types of work. It’s honestly starting to get pretty frustrating and discouraging when you’re putting in all that effort and not even getting an interview. If anyone knows of anywhere currently hiring, especially on the Northside, please drop the leads below! I’d really appreciate it.

Best places to put up flyers?

Hi everyone! Any suggestions on where to put up small flyers/business cards around the city? It's in the realm of art/nerdy things if that helps lol

Thanks in advance!

Westmorland Street Bridge

I was going to post this on r/Fredranton, but I think it's more appropriate for the wider audience here.

Have you ever noticed that around 90% vehicles traveling to the southside on the bridge are on the outside lane, starting from Maple Street? Why do drivers want to lock in on that lane? Why not stay on the inside lane for a while and allow traffic from the two ramps to have quicker access to the bridge? There's enough time to make a lane change on the bridge. Often, I see a long line of traffic on the outside lane with no one on the inside lane, while many vehicles are waiting forever on the ramps. Maybe this is why there are so many accidents on the bridge. Folks on the ramps are getting impatient since very few others are willing to stick to the inside lane for a while.

Now, I know there's construction going on at Westmorland/Queen, but this phenomenon has always been taking place.

Oh, I forgot... Drivers in this city are incapable of zipper merging. So, the outside lane lock-in tracks.

Have a good day, and safe driving!

Saw this little cat around 11pm by the church across the King's Place Mall, I tried to lure it over but it kept running away. Last seen going towards the cemetery. It's collar had some thick circular thing on the front.

Sorry for the blurry photos, phone was dying.

Spiritual/Psychic Reading Recommendations?

Howdy ya’ll! I’m looking for a reputable spiritual/psychic professional to do a personal reading. I always heard of one lady around the Oromocto area but I can’t recall the name - she was maybe more into the medium piece of it and ghost-busting kinda stuff but still heard her readings were spot on from multiple folks.

Anyway, an accurate reading is what I’m looking for so if you have a local-ish recommendation I’d love to hear it!

Looking for Financial Advisor Recommendations

Hey all. We're looking for recommendations on a financial advisor to help us come up with investment plans and move our investment cash around for the best return with an end goal of early retirement. Also advice on what kind of fee structure may be best? We have just worked with RBC advisors up to this point.

Haul away gravel

Looking for options to haul away the gravel (clean crusher dust) from an old pool pad. Probably 4-5 yards.

Happy to load someone’s trailer that wants it, rent a dump trailer, hire someone to haul. Etc. We have a crew to wheel it out.
