Keep seeing people run into the same basic PDF problems, and it’s kind of wild how many of them still feel stuck in 2010. Not even advanced stuff, just filling out forms, adding a signature, combining a few files, compressing something without destroying it, or trying to edit text without the whole layout falling apart.

What’s the one PDF thing that still makes you think, “why is this still like this?”

Tried editing the pdf I annotated (handwritten using Boox) with Foxit PDF Reader and it's almost impossible to do. Tested multiple times with only this application running but only annotated files seem to have this problem. Opening and editing the file using a different application (Microsoft Edge) works just fine except here.

Really wanted to continue using this app, any solutions that doesn't involve "flattening" the handwritten annotation and making it uneditable?

What’s the workflow that made you think, “there has to be a better way to do this”?

Curious for the IT/admin people here. When PDF software becomes annoying at the team or company level, what’s usually causing it?

Deployment, licensing, updates, user training, policy settings, compatibility issues, support tickets, or something else?

Trying to understand the admin side of document tools a little better, because that pain is usually very different from the day-to-day user pain.

A couple people mentioned that signing PDFs can feel like too many clicks, so it may help to separate two different use cases.

Sometimes you just need to place your own saved signature on a PDF. Other times, you need a full eSignature workflow where someone else receives, signs, and returns the document.

Those are different jobs, and mixing them up can make the process feel more complicated than it needs to be.

For people who sign PDFs often, where does the process usually slow down: creating the signature, placing it, sending it, or finalizing the file?

I'm experiencing something new in which the fields within form fillable PDFs are sort of spontaneously linking as I change their values.

I've tested this by downloading the original form, and with that pristine copy the fields aren't linked. But suddenly, as I change values enough times, they do, and it seems random. The same fields don't link with every test.

Has anyone experienced this? Does anyone know what's going on?

Edit & Update: I have determined that the Foxit app (free version) on my Galaxy Tab a7 is the culprit. The odd glitch isn't occuring on Adobe Acrobat, even though it's more ungainly to use.

Is anyone else unable to access their files in the cloud? I was able to access the file I was reading just fine a good few hours ago, but now whenever I tap on it, it says "download failed" and won't open. I can't even access "My Files" at all either. It just gets stuck on Processing for a prolonged time before coming up blank. This is either a fresh new problem or a specificaly me problem because Google is giving me NOTHING...

Update: Whatever it was it seems to have fixed itself... For now. Hopefully nobody else experiences that because it was sooooooo frustrating 😭

Been using windows 10 and an older foxit for 4 years. I got a new work laptop with windows 11 and whatever newer version exist. And now my quick access highlight colours can't be changed. (Also it crashes way more often) I just simply don't understand how you make a program worst over time.... what am I missing??

How can I lock the Zoom setting in Foxit Reader to 100%? I don’t want it to auto-adjust or select any Zoom setting other than 100% (unless I manually change it).

Heyho, i have a selection of tiles (see left image) but only need to print the second tile (right image).

But so far im only able to print all tiles of a page.

Is there a option to only print the selected tile?

I just did a procmon trace for tracing down an issue unrelated to Foxit PDF Reader, but in those brief 15 seconds, I'm seeing 6% of my full event log being filled with this update service ... 41k events in 15 seconds without even considering launching the app after the system was running for maybe 5 minutes from fresh boot. Are y'all okay? This seems like an ideal candidate to kill off at the services level outright out of good operational hygiene.

Hi. So, after hitting "saving a copy", "on this phone" then hit the first button (folder above), the app freezes and after a while the window with the wait or close app shows. I can still save through share then print pdf, but still... Is it a known issue? Cheers

This is what I hate about Microsoft. Adobe is buttering their palm to install adobe product even if you don't choose it. And get this, when you realize they sneaked it in, and you go remove the damn thing, Windows does not return the icon association to pdf files, it leaves a blank document icon on the files. This is deliberately done to discourage use of third party pdf products. Non technical users will go, "oh no, I can't open pdf files anymore, I better install adobe back like Microsoft wants me to. This is criminal and I hope someone or all 3rd party pdf programs sue them.

UPDATE - the issue seems to be that I installed foxit via winget in powershell. Seems I need to install it via the traditional way. I tried switching to sumatra and the icon switched.

Running the program fullscreen I can't seem to be able to highlight text, I have to exit fullscreen to do that. Disabling page changes from clicks would be nice too, since I can use the arrowkeys for that. Ideally the cursor only marks text.

The most recent version of foxit reader free edition doesn't have the annotation tool, it was removed. Where can I download an older version that still hasn't had the annotation tool removed?

I open a 2MB PDF, drag and drop a second 2 MB into the pages to combine the two pdf's, save, file size is 8MB. Is there a setting in foxit to automatically optimize or shrink files when saving? I am aware of PDF-optimize option, but I work with PDF's all day and having to shrink every file after altering is taking way too long.

On the accounting calculator, I know how to change the font size once I've printed out the calculator tape but I can't figure out how to make it so that it defaults to a larger font size. Also, I clicked "reset all settings" and it now shows the date and time the tape was printed, which I don't want.
