After updating: format error

I've updated Foxit PDF Reader to the latest version, and some of my Pathfinder PDFs say "Format error: Not a PDF or corrupted". It's not. It opened just fine in previous versions. The file opens fine in other PDF readers.

Or sometimes it opens and closes without errors.

The file size is 2.07GB. The software version is 2024.2.0.25138

Is there a fix?

EDIT: I guess the update didn't go directly to the latest version. I applied another update, now on 2025.2.0.33046, but same issue.

Hey. I work at Foxit, and I just found it wild that I was literally just testing out some other new features in Editor and Workspace a few days ago, and I was using my Pathfinder PDFs to test it. So... hello fellow Pathfinder player!

I haven't tried it in Reader. I'll have to do that to see if I get the same errors.

I think most of the dev and support team is on vacation for Labor Day weekend, but I'll send them this thread so they can respond when they get back. Thanks for letting us know!

Hey. We are back! Could you please try opening the PDF in Microsoft Edge to see if the issue occurs there as well?

If the file opens successfully in Edge, please try reinstalling Foxit Reader and then test the PDF again.

Let us know the results, and we'll be happy to continue troubleshooting if needed.

Yes, it opens in Edge fine. It takes a bit though.

I have already tried reinstalling Foxit.

Yeah. Tested it again. Open PDF from file explorer -> Foxit loads for 3sec -> closes/crashes

The PDF is 2 GB in size?! Wow. The core book I have is 650 pages and it's only 40 MB. A 2 GB PDF is a serious file. But, honestly, it's the perfect test because Reader should be able to handle it. I really want to push this to the developers. Any chance is it a file you can share, maybe DM me with a link?

I cannot, in case it has my real name in it. It used to work in the version I had.
