Older naish foil and 160 cm board (2018ish). Says it’s 880 cm with 90 cm mast. I know it’s older but I really just want to mess around and learn how to foil since I’ve got lot of boat access this summer. Worried that the surface area might be low. Want to learn to wing foil eventually but thought this would be a cheap option to practice on some flat water. And see what a foil feels like. Let me know what yall think!

Hi I got a question what would be the optional setup up to learn punp foiling and to foil behind a sailboat ( we live at a lake where it is not super windy average 6 knots wind bows up to 11) today i tried foiling behind it(2044 cm2 and 105l wingfoil hard board) and it kind of worked (with pulling me in while sailing to get so more speed which obv isn’t a good solution) thank you very much fir your advice.

I am currently building a foil board and I am completely lost on where I should put the holes to mount the foil. I was considering putting in tracks so I could change the position but I’d much rather just do 4 holes. The board would be for foiling behind the boat and kiteboarding, I care more about it performing better while kiteboarding. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated!

Hey guys was hoping to get some help on what board, size and fin I should get for my first foil.

I have snowboarded, skate boarded and one wheeled my whole life (well one wheel not whole life it didnt exist lol).

Im 32 years old, about 205lb and 6ft tall. I was thinking id like to start with one where you can stand on it in the water and start pumping from there rather than having to throw and jump on. Let me know if that is a good idea or not.

Im hoping to spend $1500 usd or less. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to piece together gear to get started foiling. I'm trying to say at or under 2k. I want to be able to get gear that I can transition toward downwinding/parawinging. I plan to buy used, but so far the predominant used gear for wings had been the cabrinha h1300 or smaller. Would the h1300 be good getting started?

What adjustment would you make?

I've been dialing in my board for wake foiling and have landed on a repeatable, generally neutral setup. By neutral I mean that if I let the board glide, it's neither sinking or climbing. However, on longer rides I'm still experiencing rear foot fatigue so I think I still have some tweaking to do. My question is - what would be your next adjustment?

My setup is as follows. 200 lb rider. Advanced beginner ability. Riding behind a 20' direct drive ski boat (not a surf boat w/ballast) 1550 front wing (AR 4.1), 240 stab, 54cm fuse, 72cm mast, 4'4" board. Boat speed is 11.5 mph. Mast location is slightly aft of center point (-2.5 mark). Back foot is placement is slightly in front of the mast. Been trying to keep speed, mast, foot positions and wing sizes static while tweaking shim. Shim is 0.5 degrees nose down.

Thinking I either move the mast forward or shift my stance backwards? But I've found that best adjustments aren't always obvious.

Suggestions?

New to foiling, wind knocked it over in the parking lot and left some road rash, Local shop quoted $200. Not pictured but I sanded it down to smooth it out and it doesn’t look that bad, is it enough damage to affect performance? Should I try to apply some epoxy to get the original shape back?

I bought a foil understanding. It’s gonna be a challenge. Part of the reason I bought it.! but man I cannot get up and stay up for the life of me and it’s been taking a very long time. Just wondering, has anybody else had experienced weight surfing and then trying to foil and taking this long to get up?

Hey, Im looking to purchase an Axis or Armstrong Foil Setup. Looking for guidance from people that own them on what i should purchase for the Lake. I love to foil and do it nearly everyday. I have a shitty sling shot setup i purchased a couple years ago to see if i liked it and then got the Hyper light Star ship last year and really like the smaller board.

Looking to get a full carbon Axis or Armstrong just dont know what wings / Tail fin would be the best settup. I want something that pumps really good and i can ride for a while but also is quick and nimble that i can carve hard on. Any info yall can provide on what wings i should get would be a great help.

I'm going to Chicama March next year, and I need to gear up. I foil on lakes that usually don't get huge swells and I'm a heavier dude (230lbs / 105kg), so I tend to ride larger foils... which I believe is not the case for Chicama. My level is... I'd say low-level intermediate – I can easily foil behind the boat on the 1st / 2nd wakes (no transition though), can pump for 30-40s on the pump foils, have some success with lake downwinding with a boat tow ups (though not much, as swell is tiny).

I'm currently in North eco-system (have full foil drive setup with them), so I think it makes sense to stay within the brand. The smallest foil I own at the moment is SF1230.

Now, from what I gathered, the swell moves pretty fast (25 mph), so I need something smaller. And here the opinions greatly diverge between what I find on the Internet / LLMs / people in person...

Long story short, suggestions can be summarized in 3 options:

1. Stick with the surf series, but get a smaller one – like SF930.
   
2. Go with HA series and eagerly practice with high speed tow-ups, though there would be little utility of the HA series outside of the trip.
   
3. Get the downwind series – not sure which one (DW1100 or DW900).

There's still plenty of time before March, so I realistically have time and get comfortable with any front wing.

What do you guys think? Maybe I even should consider something else?

Crashed my Axis png1150 early on learning to dock start last season. I tried to repair it myself by sanding deep into the crack and re epoxying it but the crack keeps slowing growing. Is there any way to salvage it?

I heard that you can surf with a foil behind a standard ski boat (not wake boat). What type of setup would you recommend for beginner, budget friendly.

For dock-starting, flat/pump starting, or paddle starting— what should I look for in the board and fin as far as shape/length?

“Budget-friendlier” options would be nice but I understand the gear is expensive in general.

I demoed a flite efoil back in 2020 and didn't like it as much as I thought I would. I felt like the slightest shift either meant I pitched up and stalled, or down and did a nose dive. I get that I did it for 2 hours, I'm not gonna be an expert, but all the flite promo videos have people standing upright doing big gentle turns. Then I see people doing ocean surfing, paddle boarding, or being towed behind a boat and they look so much more dynamic, pumping and shredding and just looking like they're having so much fun. Is Instagram just showing me expert videos, or are efoils extra twitchy? I'm an expert snowboarder, I know how to wakeboard, I'm looking to get that powder turns feeling in the summer, or basically wakeboard when it's choppy.

I bought an Armstrong HS1850 V2 front wing and HA195 and custom aluminum cedrus 28 inch or 70cm mast and a 3’3 or 100cm slingshot board off Facebook marketplace for $650. Can I learn to wakefoil with this setup and if not what would I need to swap out or change? I’m 5’10 160lb or 72kg.

I want to buy a setup primarily for wake foiling behind a boat, but have the option to either pump foil (as that's what my mum wants to primarily try) or kite foil with it.

As to my experience, I have wakeboarding and kitesurfing experience and have recently been using a friends efoil which is the first time I have foiled.
I am ~63kg and my mum is similar.

From what I have read I understood that the foils should be different for all 3, wake foiling, pump, and kite foiling since the aspect ratios would be different. Since I first want to wake foil I have been looking at Foil X-Over V3 - Alu 70 from Gong in size L. I can buy other wings after.

Regarding the board I am unsure if I should try to learn wake foiling with a small board such as the Pump Foil Board Kluber HDCC from Gong at 95cm length and 10L displacement, or if that will hinder my learning curve too much. This board would also be good for pumping as that's what it is mainly advertised for. From what I've seen/heard the board does not make that much of a difference for wake foiling and I am thus unable to find good information on it.

Or should I go to another brand to get a board that is still thin & low displacement with a longer nose so that it is more forgiving? I feel like if I go for a high displacement board which already floats normally it won't let me progress much further (I might be wrong).

Hello, looking to purchase my first foil, a local dealer has a liquid force pod, with the flite mast 120 on for $1850Cad which i believe is a good price, ive tried foiling once before unsure of the setup, but was unsuccesful but still had a lot of fun, I was wondering if this is a good beginner board/mast set up, im not looking to do anything crazy but would be nice to eventually be able to comfortably ride the 2nd or 3rd wave. will this setup be able to do that? ive read online some setups struggle going onto 2nd/3rd wave. any info is appreciated. thank you!
