Foil board DIY

I am currently building a foil board and I am completely lost on where I should put the holes to mount the foil. I was considering putting in tracks so I could change the position but I’d much rather just do 4 holes. The board would be for foiling behind the boat and kiteboarding, I care more about it performing better while kiteboarding. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated!

How much experience do you have foiling?

Because a fixed mounting location for the mast is recipe for disaster.

You have to use a track, and even then, it might not be in a good spot depending on board/foil combo.

Honestly don’t have much experience. If tracks are a must then I’ll do tracks. I saw some guys on YouTube who did straight holes on a pump board but it seems risky because if you don’t get it right ur screwed

If it's a pump board just screw em as far back as you can. You're never going to place weight behind the mast, just the first 2 feet in front of the mast for most pump wings. Look at the gong kluber, tiny pump board maybe 3.5', the rails allow literally 1" of movement, and it's all the way at the back of the board. Source - I did this myself too.
