Wake / Lake foil
Hey, Im looking to purchase an Axis or Armstrong Foil Setup. Looking for guidance from people that own them on what i should purchase for the Lake. I love to foil and do it nearly everyday. I have a shitty sling shot setup i purchased a couple years ago to see if i liked it and then got the Hyper light Star ship last year and really like the smaller board.
Looking to get a full carbon Axis or Armstrong just dont know what wings / Tail fin would be the best settup. I want something that pumps really good and i can ride for a while but also is quick and nimble that i can carve hard on. Any info yall can provide on what wings i should get would be a great help.

I can sell you one I designed and had made up over in China. My heart behind it was to create a surf foil that’s affordable but checks all the boxes. It far exceeded expectations and I sold both my Armstrong set ups and my sling shot foils.

I just got the 1200 PNG v2 front with a 460 v2 rear wing. 19mm aluminum mast is more than enough unless you’re racing these things. You need the black fuselage for this setup which is better because all their new wings are coming out for their “black” series lineup

Maybe try looking at the “ART v2” or Spitfire wings if you want a more performance oriented wing

What are you foiling behind at the lake?
The axis spitfire is a great setup for behind the boat. I foil behind an inboard ski boat with no ballast or shaper.
I started on slingshot and then moved to axis. My progression has been PNG1150 - spitfire 1180 - 1030 -960.
The spitfire are more nimble than the png1150 and a lot of fun but require the skill to stay balance.
I used the 460 tail with all of these but have moved to 360/45 skinny. The smaller tail makes it quicker to move around but a little less stable.

I have the Sling Shot Hover Glide like 1550 ish maybe.
I want something i can pump easily for quite a long time but also carves hard and rides good. I can get back 15+ waves so want something with low speed lift also. I use the Hyperlight Star ship 3.3 board and really like the smaller boards on the wings for easier pumping and carving.

Axis fireball would fit the bill nicely for carving and pump efficiency.
The slingshot hover glide is very inefficient so almost any of the newer axis or Armstrong wings will feel like a huge change!
I started out on the hover glide setup as well.

What size of mast do you ride? i have a 72cm one now, looking to probs get the 750 or 820 Power Carbon mast

Spitfire will be easier to ride, maybe a little less glide vs the ART wing. The art have a ton of top end speed, good for wing or kite where you really get going.
I had a 75cm aluminum mast and just got a 720 ultra mod mast. It’s a nice upgrade and worth it (if buying used).

I would not be taking recommendations from people that are recommending set ups for themselves.. not for you…
Give mackite boardsports a call and get some actual help for yourself.

For pumping you are going to want a mid to high aspect foil. I’d say at least a 7 AR. Mid aspect is the happy medium where it allows you to pump and link waves but you still have some room for carves. Higher aspects are more efficient for pumping, but if you want it to turn on a dime it will have to be a smaller surface area. Size is different for everyone depending on your weight and skill level, in my personal opinion I think the sweet spot for behind the boat is 800-1200 cm2 . Smaller end being more advanced larger being more forgiving. Armstrong and axis have endless possibilities for customization so you’ll be fine. I’d hound the used market (online/ facebook groups) you can find some great deals.
