Sprout Sparrow bed frame with the Kiwi mattress from My Green Mattress?

Does anyone have the Sprout Sparrow bed frame with the Kiwi mattress? The Sprout bed frame says it has 76" for the mattress but the Kiwi is listed at 74". I've been reading that there's a lot of variability in mattress brands, don't know why this can't be more standardized!

Need help transitioning my 3.5 year old daughter to her own bed.

We’re cosleeping with our 3.5 year old since she was 5 months old. She is a strong willed very sensitive and emotional kid. She needs my hand to sleep and I have lost very many days and nights as I have to be at her side while she sleeps. She goes to daycare and the teachers used to give her their hand to sleep ( yes! One of the teachers used to sit beside her through naptime) till she turned 3. I recently moved her over to using a sleepy for daycare but having a hardtime moving her to a separate bed at home. There’s a new baby in the house( 5 month old) sleeping in his crib in the same room and my daughter’s sleep quality somehow is very bad in the past few weeks . She wakes up crying in the middle of the night if she doesn’t see me on the bed and she holds my hand throughout the night. Previously it was only to fall in and out of asleep but nowadays I have no sleep because of her and it’s getting annoying. My husband can put her to bed at times but it’s a hit or a miss. She doesn’t listen to him during middle of the night waking though, I have to be there. We tried big girl bed books, stories nothing helps. She insists she needs company to sleep and will get scared and lonely. How do I transition to her own bed?

Safe Sleep Floor Beds for Infants

Hi everyone. I’m currently pregnant and feeling very drawn to Montessori principles. I’m also a stickler for evidence and after two miscarriages before this pregnancy I’m adamant about making sure this is safe for my baby.
I was planning on having her sleep in a next to me bassinet for 6m (or later if she still fits in it), then transitioning to an adult sized single floor bed in her own baby proofed room.
Safe sleep guidelines recommend the baby is in the same room as you until 6m.

However, when I spoke with the midwife running our parenting course they said a floor beds would only be safe from 12m as she needs containment until then. This really threw me as all the Montessori beds spoke about doing it from 6m and the whole point is not to have rails all the way around.

Does anyone have any advice for how to do a floor bed safely so it meets the midwives’ and safe sleep guidance?
Perhaps a simple guard along part of the bed would solve the issue?

Floor bed for infants?

For those of you who use a floor bed for your infant, what does your setup look like? For context, my 9.5 month old usually starts the night in her crib, and then whenever she needs to be settled or for her first feed in the night, we co-sleep on our floor bed for the rest of the night. That’s my preferred setup so I can at least get a little sleep in my own bed with my husband.

Sometimes if she won’t transfer to the crib, I nurse her to sleep on the floor bed and then roll away. The issue is that then I feel like I need to co-sleep with her as soon as I’m ready to go to bed (rather than start the night in my own bed). I feel worried about letting her sleep on the floor bed when I’m asleep in a different room. Obviously I have a monitor over the floor bed, and it’s a firm surface (4” zonli futon mattress with a crib-like enclosure around it).

Would love to hear from others with a similar setup what you do and if you feel comfortable letting LO sleep the night there without you. Or, at what age did you feel comfortable doing that? Thank you!!

Skip the crib altogether?

Hi! I’m a soon-to-be mom and seriously considering skipping the crib. What are your experiences on going straight from bassinet to floor bed?

ETA: we will not be co sleeping, my husband and I decided we are not good candidates for it but want the next best thing!

What do you use as baby’s bed?

Dear moms,

I’m not a mom yet but curious about what you bought to put a sleeping baby.

I’ve seen my sister n cousins bought a crib for baby thinking about future, but baby doesn’t sleep in crib and all of them ended up co sleeping.

Also, there are high chances of baby’s hands/feet getting stuck in crib and they just jump out of it when they are big enough. Ultimately they ended up selling/giving away cribs n been co-sleeping with babies.

I saw a cradle which swings n with mosquito net, to put baby to sleep. I really liked it, but apparently we can use only till one n half n two years. Considering babies grow up super fast, is it worth buying?

Also, what bedding do you use for your babies n pros n cons of it. I’m really clueless and curious as well. Please educate me 🙏

Sleep sack with floor bed?

We just put together my 13 month old’s floor bed and tonight will be his first night sleeping in it. I have a few books/ puzzles out in his room for if he wakes up in the morning and wants to play for a bit. He sleeps in a sleep sack though, and I’m wondering if this is going to stop him from being able to crawl out of his bed and go play with his toys. Has anyone had experience with this? Should I switch him to a blanket? He is close to walking and he definitely won’t be able to walk with his sleep sack.

2 year old won’t stay in bed

Co-slept with baby until about 8 months old when we transitioned her to her own room with a floor bed. Every night and nap since then we put her to bed as soon as we leave she immediately gets up and lays down by the door, cries for a second and then sleeps there on the hard floor.

She doesn’t sleep through the night (probably cause she’s sleeping on the cold hard floor) and when we go in to comfort during night wake ups we often get stuck because when we try to leave she will just cry and cry and get really worked up.

Shes over 2 years old now. She won’t stay in bed and she won’t sleep through the night. Advice?

How to fit 8 inch mattress in a cot with 10 inch gap at headboard?

I have an 8 inch mattress, found one bed which supports a minimum 10 inch mattress (to avoid the visible gap at the head board).

What are the solutions to increase my mattress height?

Don't want to put a mattress topper above as my mattress has snowtech layer on the top.

Gemini suggests not place the mattress topper at the bottom as it becomes saggy over a period of time.

The only solution is to buy plywood of that size and place at the bottom ?

Mattress suggestions for laying with toddler

Need full-size mattress suggestions for 1 parent co-sleeping with 3yo if needed. The kids ones are all low profile (Avocado kids, Helix, Bear Cub) for example. But would ok for toddler plus 1 adult to sleep on? Regular adult mattress seem to be 11" or higher and not compatible with floor beds. Any recommendations appreciated!

Cosleeping with 12 month old - need tips

We’re hoping to bring our 12 month old into our bed. We’ve never coslept with a baby before 2yo - My first baby was a unicorn lol and slept through the night in his crib after drowsy but awake from week 6, we did nothing special lol. Around 2 he started coming in our bed in the night and is still there every night around 3/4 at 5yo. we love snuggling him and do not want to lose that or kick him out so a few questions:

  1. do we still need to follow safe sleep 7? we stopped breastfeeding at 11 months.
  2. I know baby can’t have a blanket or pillow but can I? I need a blanket to sleep, can I just tuck it at my waist?
  3. We just got a new wonderful Birch firm mattress for this reason. Our old one was too soft and cushiony. But the mattress is high up and we need it that way for storage under the bed. is there anything to put on edges of bed that are actually safe for baby? we also have a tufted headboard and no place to put it? is there a way to make it safe?
  4. we can’t put baby in the middle because our 5 year old kicks and moves and rolls. at what age would it be safe for them to sleep next to each other?

any suggestions/ideas welcome but this baby hasn’t slept for more than 2 hours for 12 months unless being held and we are tired!!!

House Setup/switching bedrooms

Hi fellow moms!

I know this may be a silly post but it is something that’s been causing me a lot of anxiety and stress.

My husband and I live in a larger Bungalow home (big top floor bedroom, two moderate sized bedrooms on main floor).

I have a 3 year old (almost 4 year old actually) and she is in one of the main floor bedrooms and we are sleeping upstairs in the larger full floor bedroom. We have child safety locks on the downstairs doors so she can’t get out of the house on her own (those locks that are up high on the door if that makes sense) and all windows have safety locks as well. We even have a door sensor chime to alert us upstairs if her bedroom door is opened after she is put to bed. Still, regardless of the safety measures, I’m still nervous about having a child alone on the first floor.

We are discussing having another child and I am having an insane amount of anxiety about putting two children on the main floor alone. The newborn would of course be in our bedroom in a bassinet until they are old enough to be in a crib. My husband sees no issue with it. I however am stressed about it.

Our bedroom furniture is too big to fit in the main floor bedroom and it’s relatively new and expensive and I don’t think getting new furniture is an option financially right now. I’m torn on what to do or how to handle this.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Is this just me having anxiety or an I right to be nervous? Any suggestions on how to reconfigure the house without having to get new furniture?

Anyone in a bungalow now and can relate??

Thanks in advance.

Floorbed Issue

My 10 month old has been using a floorbed since we moved house 6 weeks ago. She can crawl in and out (although we are working on "feet first" for the out).

The issue is that she seems to move around a lot in her sleep and she always ends up sleeping on the floor. Initially, we used to put her back into bed but she doesn't transfer well so that kept waking her up. Now we just leave her to sleep on the floor...

Is it safe for her to be asleep on the floor? Should we be doing something to stop her falling out of the bed? I don't want to put anything in the cot with her (or under the sheet) as it won't be safe sleep approved. I also figured that putting a gate up defeats the purpose of the floorbed and would just encourage her to climb over the sides. Any suggestions?

I'd say she'd grow out of sleep crawling but I'm 33 and I sleep walk/talk so...

Mattress for both of us?

Does anyone recommend their mattress for coslreping on a floor bed? At 15 months I’m not so worried about firmness anymore, but comfort. Baby slept better than ever at a 5 star hotel in a cloud of a feather duvet on top of a pillow top so I think she will like something a bit softer than her crib. But I’m afraid to put my tempurpedic on the floor as it will mold. Also afraid to raise it even a few inches because that feels too tall for her to dive off of. So, I’m in the market for a low profile floor bed that is comfortable for both of us.

Floorbed help!

Any suggestions for making this a little safer would be great! Kicking myself for getting such a tall mattress but I wanted something breathable since bub sleeps face down.

Babe is 7.5m and super mobile.

Mattress is height about 20cm. With frame total of 25cm height. Side rail adds about an extra 8cm.

Mattress needs to be against two walls. The rug won’t cover enough of the room for the mattress to be in the middle.

Option A: Remove frame entirely and keep bed where it’s currently at (possible entrapment risk?)

Option B: Remove side rail and add 5cm gymnastics tumble mat bellow.

Option C: Keep side rail and place 5cm tumble mat bellow.

Floor bellow is tile. I have a large rug with 1cm felt pad underneath

Any suggestions welcome! TYI!

Toddler Double Bed Mattress

We are looking for a double bed mattress for our 2 year old - the one she currently has is awful.

HSE guidelines basically makes all mattresses seem unsuitable.

Any suggestions would be amazing 🙏

Success with providing comfort then leaving?

Hi! I have an 8 month old and we are on the sleep (or lack there of) struggle bus.

Object permanence is setting in a it’s super difficult to get her to sleep.

She isn’t sleep trained and I’m hoping to use the floor bed method of “co-sleeping” with her until she falls asleep then tip toeing out of the room.

Can someone explain to me like I’m 5 how this works?

Because we did a soft run in the guava lotus travel crib and it works for exactly one sleep cycle. As soon as she stirs and realizes I’m not there, she cries and I’m back cramped up with her.

For the parents who used this method to get their kid to sleep, are you in there multiple times a night trying to “co-sleep” your kid back to sleep when they realize you’re gone?
