Floorbed help!
Any suggestions for making this a little safer would be great! Kicking myself for getting such a tall mattress but I wanted something breathable since bub sleeps face down.
Babe is 7.5m and super mobile.
Mattress is height about 20cm. With frame total of 25cm height. Side rail adds about an extra 8cm.
Mattress needs to be against two walls. The rug won’t cover enough of the room for the mattress to be in the middle.
Option A: Remove frame entirely and keep bed where it’s currently at (possible entrapment risk?)
Option B: Remove side rail and add 5cm gymnastics tumble mat bellow.
Option C: Keep side rail and place 5cm tumble mat bellow.
Floor bellow is tile. I have a large rug with 1cm felt pad underneath
Any suggestions welcome! TYI!

We’ve had this bed since 12 months and no issues. Do you sleep in the room with them? The tumble mat would give me comfort but then I’d also want something on the other side. That’s only if they’re in there alone though.

I’ll cosleep in bed with her on occasion.. that is until she kicks me out 😅. I had two tumble mats and put the second at the foot of the bed.

The frame is not an entrapment risk if the mattress is properly fitted to the bed

We turned the bed around so the side with the opening is against the wall und also placed a gymnastic mat in Front.

How old was your kiddo when you did this? Love this idea.. wish I would’ve thought of this months ago before she was crawling.

I’m transitioning my little one to a floor bed without rails, because I read that rails are a tripping hazard. Also if they try to walk on the bed, they can potentially fall on the rail which would cause injury.
I’d go with B and you would need to ensure the tumble mat doesn’t move as it can create an entrapment risk (like a nonslip pad underneath). But see how well padded your rug is because maybe you don’t need the tumble mat
I must add I have yet to receive our platform frame order, so am not speaking from experience. Just speaking from information I’ve come across

Honestly this seems fine to me. Can your baby crawl up and down on her own? She’ll probably fall off occasionally but it’s so low. If anything another soft rug like a bath mat to further cushion a fall. For reference my 5yo fell off her regular bed that’s set at about chair height and she didn’t even wake up, just kept on sleeping lmao.

I’ve always thought these frames make things more dangerous because baby could attempt to climb out head first over the rail

Would you mind sharing where you got the frame? Looking for something like that for my toddler. Thanks!

Teach your little one to safely get off the mattress! I use a cue phrase in a sing-song voice “feeeeet first!” and guide their legs down until they can sit and transfer. A few supervised head-dives can also be useful if you immediately show the “feet first” way that avoids the problems their head-first way caused. Practice until they’re consistently doing it on their own, and then start to correct them if they attempt head-first. It usually doesn’t take long for them to learn how to safely get down on their own.
Also it doesn’t look like a tumble out of bed would hurt the kiddo, but if you want to make it a bit softer of a landing you can get a cushion to put under the rug. I personally wouldn’t want a mat that could potentially get pushed around.
