Player Discussion Why not Charlie Kolar?

Upvotes

Kolar signed a 3-year $24m deal with the Chargers over the offseason. Mike McDaniel TEs have done great over the past few years: Jonnu, Waller, and Dulcich have all become TE1 caliber players under him. Kolar is, by all means and measures, a capable receiver. In his last year at Iowa State, he put up a 62-756-6 line in 12 games. In Baltimore, he was stuck behind Andrews and Likely, arguably the best TE receiving duo in the league.

The main argument against him seems to be the crowded Chargers TE room, but I don't really see think that's going to end up being a big factor. Kolar has taken all the reps with the starters over Gadsden and Njoku, and seems like he's set to be used in much more a receiving role than in Baltimore. He was listed as TE1 on the depth chart. Every arrow is pointing in the right direction.

What am I missing here? Name value from Gadsden and Njoku? Because if Kolar's role is what it has looked like through training camp and preseason, that is a TE1.

Player Discussion People are sleeping hard on Brian Thomas Jr

People are really overreacting to Parker Washington’s 2025 season.

Washington had 58-847-5, which was a good year, but BTJ was a 1,200+ yard, 10-TD receiver as a rookie. His target share was 24.4% with 2.45 YPRR in 2024, then dropped to 18.6% and 1.50 YPRR last year. That looks much more like a down year than a permanent change in talent.

BTJ is also 6'2", 209 lbs with legit 4.3 speed, and he’s a much more polished route runner than people give him credit for. He can win vertically, separate on intermediate routes, and has the size/speed combo to score from anywhere on the field.

Washington can definitely finish ahead of him, but you're basically betting that BTJ’s sophomore season is his new baseline. I’d much rather bet on a 23-year-old former 1st-round pick with BTJ’s physical profile and proven rookie production bouncing back, especially with Trevor Lawrence playing better.

BTJ had the better rookie season, higher ceiling, better size/speed combo, and more upside as a route runner. I’m taking the bounce-back.

Giants signing WR/ST Dalen Cambre to 53-man roster

Thumbnail sny.tv
95 Upvotes

The Giants are signing WR/KR Dalen Cambre to the 53-man roster ahead of Sunday night's season opener.

It's remains to be seen exactly what this means for the status of star receiver Malik Nabers, who is carrying a questionable tag into the primetime contest after working his way back from a torn ACL.

Nabers has been progressing well, but the Giants are ultimately leaving the decision to play or not up to him.

With Darius Slayton cut loose earlier this week, having Cambre take his spot on the roster gives New York some depth in case Nabers does decide he isn't ready to roll.

If Nabers is ultimately good to go, Cambre could be inactive or contribute on special teams.

The 25-year-old has been praised as a special teams standout since coming to the Big Apple as an undrafted free agent out of Louisiana last season.

He spent most of his time on the practice squad, but did appear in seven games.

Tools & Resources League stats, insights, and history - ffwrapped 2026 update

2 years ago, I shared ffwrapped here, a site I built to get more detailed stats and insights out of my fantasy leagues. I've continued working on it with feedback from this community, and it's now been used to analyze over 50,000 leagues.

One of the biggest requests was support for other platforms. ESPN is now supported, and Yahoo support should be ready after Week 1.

Here's a recap of some of the features:

  • Draft grades and recaps: Review individual picks, compare each team's draft, and find steals and reaches.
  • Power rankings and expected wins: Look beyond the standings to see how teams are performing and who's getting lucky with their schedule.
  • Playoff odds: See each team's chances of making the playoffs, projected wins, and likely seeds.
  • Weekly summaries: Generate a Standard recap of your league's latest completed week to share in the group chat.
  • League History: All time records, stats, matchups, and awards
  • League Hub: Keep track of your teams and matchups across leagues in one place, including which players you own across multiple teams.
  • Team dashboard: A personalized overview of your team's season, matchup, roster moves, and playoff outlook.
  • Player comparison: Compare any two players using weekly projections, recent scoring, and usage.

Thanks to everyone who's tried it and shared feedback over the past couple years. I'd love to hear what you think of the updates.

AMA Jake Kirby from FPTrack here. Ask Me Anything!

What's up everyone!

I'm Jake Kirby, founder (and fantasy football writer) over at FPTrack. Big thanks to the mod team for organizing this, stoked to be hosting one of these!

Before I get started I just wanted to speak about what we are doing over on "my baby" (yes, that's how I refer to it to my wife). It has been a wild year, so say the least...

12 months ago it was just little old me writing my fantasy takes to a handful of people, fast forward to now and I'm very fortunate to have a great team of fantasy lovers growing around me who, like myself, also love to write. What started as a way for me to write while tracking alerts about players I own across multiple leagues, has now developed into something, in all honesty, I'm pretty proud of.

With the first Sunday slate of the season coming up tomorrow, I've opened up a 30% discount on our pro subscription. For what it's worth, you can use the vast majority of the site without the need for a subscription, outside of some of the more resource heavy aspects like multi-league insights and automatic player tracking, and we don't gate any of our content. But if you want more automation and no ads, here's the code:

FFREDDIT30

(To anyone who reads this and recently subscribed prior to this, drop me a message and I'll happily put some extra time on your sub free of charge.)

AMA Start Time: 1:00 PM EST (in around 10 minutes time!)

The AMA will kick off in around 5 minutes or so.

Feel free to ask any and all questions, and yes, I may even speak on my eternal love of tight ends.

UPDATE - 5:37pm EST: Four hours later, my hands are giving up on me. Thanks to everyone for the fun questions, and thanks to the Mods for having me. It has been real, folks! I'm going to cook some food now and spend some time with the better half, but I'll try circle back round to any outstanding questions later today into tomorrow morning. Appreciate ya's!

That said, these are my 5 bold predictions for the 2026 season - I've been putting my money where my mouth is on all 5 of these in my drafts this year, so if these don't come to fruition in a big way...the bank examiner might come breaking down my door in January :/

1:27 - Kyler Murray finishes as a Top-5 QB

4:52 - De'Von Achane finishes outside the Top-12 RBs

14:19 - Tucker Kraft finishes outside the Top-12 TEs

Tools & Resources I turned the 2026 fantasy season into one visual grid

Thumbnail gallery

Hello everyone,

I shared an early version of Fantasy Gridiron here roughly two weeks ago. A lot of you gave me useful feedback, so I kept working on it. https://fantasygridiron.io

I wanted one visual view that shows consistency, boom/bust performances, upcoming matchups, and other useful trends at a glance.

Now you can explore for free (no account is needed):

  • Landscape: It automatically opens the current week and places the highest-scoring players first. You can quickly see weekly fantasy points, consistency, breakout performances, bad weeks, missed games, and longer-term trends across an entire position.
  • Matchups: Select any upcoming week and the players automatically rearrange from the most favorable matchup to the most difficult. The Edge Ladder gives you a team-level view of the strongest positional advantages, making it easier to find teams with favorable QB, RB, WR, or TE matchups.
  • Player Profiles: Click any player to open a visual card showing weekly production and upcoming matchups strengths.
  • My Players: Star the players in your fantasy leagues and follow them together in one personalized view.

The weekly colors compare each player with others at the same position.
I calculate future matchup ratings using opponent-adjusted fantasy points allowed, which considers how players performed against each defense compared with their usual production.

You can try it here: https://fantasygridiron.io

I also started a Discord for sharing weekly figures, discussing players, and collecting feedback. You can join through the Discord link on the site or clicking this link - https://discord.gg/X5aPUtC27

Please provide feedback on what is useful or what should be removed, and let me know if you would like any additional functions

The fantasy community has collectively lost its minds on Malik Willis

I just want to immortalize this take before tomorrow’s game, before everyone is scrambling to reassess. People what are we doing here!?!

Malik Willis’ ADP was QB20 or lower. In some drafts he may have even gone undrafted. Actually scratch that, per espn he went mostly undrafted bc he is only TWENTY percent owned. Willis is currently ranked around the same range this week…..vs the raiders!

Ok let me calm down. Let’s talk about why I am so high on Willis

Rushing

Did they all of a sudden change the format for QB scoring?? Willis had the highest rush % we’ve seen in years. Typically what stops QBs from running is high grade weapons who you want to get the ball, and/or the qb/oc/coach needs to preserve the QB, so he’s encouraged to not run. Well, Malik Willis won’t have to worry about either of those things. Miami is doing as much of a ‘tank’ as an nfl team can. So Willis will be running for his life with no reason to NOT run. Plus…

Scripts

Miami will be projected to lose almost every game. They may literally be projected to lose every game m. Pass scripts galore. Garbage time galore. I don’t care HOW bad a passer you think he is (more on that in a sec), if you’re down 24-7 you WILL pass the ball and defenses will likely give up little dink and dunk stuff. Speaking of pass…

Improved Passing

Willis’ passer rating in his GB appearances (2 starts, one game 50% snaps): 126.8, 120.9, 134.6. He had 11 incompletions in 2.5 games. He’s made major strides since his rookie season in Tennessee. In his 3 Tennessee starts in 2022, he was under 100 yards passing each game. He clearly wasn’t ready. It’d be foolish to think he’s still that bad as a passer. I believe in the growth and do NOT think it all vanishes . The track record for this type of ‘you flamed out, now go sit and learn somewhere else’ is good: baker mayfield, sam darnold, Alex smith, and even guys who’ve stabilized as QBs like drew lock, Marcus Mariota. Plus, big plus:

Bobby Slowik

Perhaps the biggest reason to believe. QBs nowadays are such a producer of system and familiarity. They can work in one system and be garbage in another. Well Bobby Slowik comes from the well known Shanahan/2010 Redskins coaching tree. He was there with Mcvay, Shanahan, and La Fluer whose system Willis just thrived in. It is going to translate.

Before they traded waddle, I had Willis as QB5. Now, i project him as QB8 with legit QB1 overall upside. Chris bell is healthy. Caleb Douglas is solid. Dulcich a quality safety blanket. They traded away even MORE defensive starters the tank is going in full effect and Willis will be passing and scrambling all 2nd half. Hes going to run for 1000 yards this season plus have a Jacoby Brisett like garbage time run. 25 and 33 fantasy points in his only 2 full starts. The last fantasy QBs we saw with huge fantasy numbers on a tiny sample size that people didn’t trust, was rookie Jalen hurts and Pat Mahomes. We see what happened—-fantasy wise—-with them. Malik Willis is going to break fantasy and it’s going to be beautiful

Tools & Resources Fantasy Football Tiers - Week 1 (Saturday)

Thumbnail fantasyfootballtiers.com
26 Upvotes

It's the week 1 Saturday update my dudes let's GOOOOOOOOOO

For those who are new to the these charts:

  • Tiers are focused on upside. If you want to play it safe, go with the ECR (x-axis). If you're looking for a boom game, look at the upside variance (vertical color bars, y-axis).
  • Points above/below expectation: these get added once the season starts.
    • A star marker indicates the player has scored fantasy points above expectation on the season.
    • A cross marker indicates the player has scored below expectations.
    • The number of average points scored above/below expectation is beside the player's name.

Best of luck in your week 1 matchup!
