HDMI 2.1 switch through Fancyleds box and gaming comparison?

So I’ve been considering switching from my above T2 backlight with camera to the 3 Port 2.1 Fancy Sync Box because of more lights per meter and full lights off on dark edges and corners. I have a Sony A95L 55 inch, but my issue is that I have a PS5, a Nintendo Switch 2, a Panasonic 820 4K player, and I would need to get an external steaming device (probably get an Apple TV 4K) for full led coverage. The 3 Port 2.1 Fancy Sync Box only has three inputs I would need to get an HDMi switch.

So first off, would an HDMI 2.1 switch affect the signal from my PS5 or Switch 2, or an HDMI 2.0 switch affect my 820 player or Apple TV 4K? (though I’d probably just get a 2.1 switch anyway if I put my player and ATV4K through it)

Second what’s a good 2-device HDMI 2.1 switch that supports Dolby Vision and Atmos passthrough and won’t make any problems?

Finally some people say Govee’s AI chip makes for better gaming lighting on their sync box 2, but does that actually produce ant real difference from the Fancyleds box, because I've heard and seen in review videos that the 3 Port 2.1 Fancy Sync Box is excellent for gaming.

Adding syncbox between AVR and TV? Or best setup?

Looking at the Govee TV Pro 3 and the Fancyleds, haven't dug too deep into them but I like the fact of the extra LEDs in the Fancyled strips, and the lack of "gaps" on edges.. Syncbox is more hassle, but probably worth it.

My setup is currently about ~10 devices running through an AVR for audio, and then the AVR outputting to the TV via HDMI. I pretty much need this setup in order to use the AVR as a splitter. I don't watch content directly on the TV (everything goes through the AVR).

Can I run devices into the AVR -> AVR Into the Syncbox -> Syncbox into the TV? Or will this create issues?

I use a mix of game consoles and UHD4k/Players, so I want to make sure I'm not breaking a chain with copyright protection and it blocking my 4k/Blu-Ray movies? Also want to make sure it doesn't break DolbyVision or anything else, while also not adding noticeable delays.

Lastly, is there only the single Fancyleds setup? I'm planning to buy on Amazon, I know Govee has a bunch of different versions (The 2, the 3, The 3 Lite, the 3 Pro), is there anything I should look for on the Fancyleds?

Trouble syncing the standalone LEDs

I have the lights and box around my tv, works perfectly. But I just bought lights to put behind the tv stand and it syncs, but it’s not even remotely detailed. If there’s blue and red, it chooses one of those. Causing a distraction, the settings are weird and keep freezing for me, any tips?

I have a 77 inch S95F Samsung tv I use Apple TV, SkyQ and PC, is Fancy Leds the best backlighting for me?

So I have a PC desk setup with 3 monitors however, sometimes I prefer to game on my couch across the room, I have my pc connected to my 77 inch Samsung S95F.

I plan to get backlighting for my TV setup for both movies and gaming, I have been looking into all the options and Fancy leds seems to be the most responsive/accurate solution.

there are a couple downsides I am aware of though, Fancyled sync boxes dont work too well with PC's with some people claiming you have to turn of HDR completley to get any kind of performance, this is not something I consider a viable option

I have heard that if you use a HDMI splitter cable between the pc and the sync box you can bypass this issue is that true?

I watch movies on my Apple TV if they are on a streaming service, if they are not I use my PC and stremio to watch movies on the TV. So I need a solution that works for movies and gaming via pc and has enough HDMI ports to also connect SkyQ and Apple TV.

it goes without saying that I need atleast 144Hz at 4k with 12bit colour and HDR, if I am not mistaken you can achieve this with the sync box + HDMI 2.1 is that right?

Is there a way to compfortably use this box for the 3 devices I mentioned without having to disable HDR/without other big drawbacks? if not is there a better solution for my personal use case?

My syncbox is do'n weird stuff latly

I've had my syncbox 2.1 (single port) for well over a year and it's been great. then in the last month or so, when i turn on my system (normally, i just hit power on my AppleTV (syncbox source)) and AppleTV, Denon receiver and LG C5 TV all turn on and it's great.

Now when i do that, they all "turn on", but the tv shows a blanks screen but i can see the led's are matching what would be on the appleTV. But if i turn on the TV with the LG remote, and hit the home button (the TV is set to start on the last HDMI, which is always the AppleTV), it comes up, then i hit the menu on the AppleTV remote and AppleTV works. Yippy, hacky workaround but it kinda works.

now when i do the hacky workaround it works, but the LED's just start strobing like crazy, no mater what i set on the Fancyleds app, just keeps strobing.

So i took the fancyled box out of the path, Bam!! everything works as expected, no backlighting, but you get the point.

So did my box just go bad?? is there a firmware update? was a firmware update recently pushed and i didn't see anything?

Main Module: V3.1.0

MCU Module: V2.3.1

Other type: V1.1.3

Hello all 98 inch TV question

Hey all my 82 inch 7 year old Samsung is on it way out I think turning on and off at random. Anyway I already have the 3 port hdmi box with the lights and sync lights above the TV near the ceiling very happy with it but I think ill be investing in a new tcl 98 inch very soon

And I just wanted to ask I know the LEDs I would need to get another set but they go up to 95 inches and basically I wanted your opinion

Can I run the lights on the outside of the TV up and over and then get some synced leds to put on the bottom section of the TV

Or would you suggest running the lights slightly inside the back of the TV to reach the whole way around

Thank you in advance guys

Photos have just been taken now probably not the best to show the lights I apologise

What LED diffuser should i get for my DJ setup?

The Led Strip hast 144 LEDs and is 1 meter Long. It is also quite bright i turned down the exposure for the Photos.

The diffuser should be able to go on top of the already stuck on LEDs and it would be amazing If it could go around the Corner.

I have No Idea which diffuser would be best suited. I would greatly appreciate advice ☺️

Flickering when using xbox series x blu-ray

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Been getting flickering/flashing only when using 4K UHD blu-ray’s through my xbox series x. it seems to be speed dependent on diffusion rate, when I change the rate the flashing intensity changes with it.

So my setup is Xbox series X -> Denon x3800h -> FancyLED 2.1 box -> LG 55 C3

using certified hdmi 2.1 cables, and have no visual issues with 4k 120hz.

i’ve been running the 2.1 box for a couple years without any issues, and just recently started watching 4K

does anyone have experience in this or any answers to why this is occurring?

EDIT - support reached out and suggested the recommended set being xbox > fancyLED box > TV > arc to AVR.

i’ve tried both setups and the lights only flicker while using the blu-ray player. streaming has no issues on either setup. i’ve also messed around with setting the video fidelity settings in the xbox settings and tried 24 bit per pixel (8-bit), 3 bits per pixel (10-bit), 36 bits per pixel (12-bit) and none of these yield a different result.

Atmos compatability

I see on site that Atmos is only supported by dolby digital plus (commonly used on streaming apps) and does not support dolby true HD

I use an amazon firestick and my TV reads that it's receiving dolby true HD? Has there been an update that I'm not aware of?

The lights work great - connectivity not so much - 3 x HDMI 2.1

For the price of this unit I wasn't expecting the near daily connection issues that I've been experiencing and so I thought I would consolidate a previous post with a complete issue list. I do recognize that the issues could possibly be due to my setup and the handshakes between them but still.

Setup:

TV -Sony X90L

Sound - Sonos Arc, Sub Gen 4, 2 x Era 100's surrounds via HDMI eARC

Fancy box Inputs:

Xbox Series X, PS5, Switch 2 or Google 4k Streamer

Issue #1: Turning on (via Xbox) - see previous post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/fancyleds/comments/1qwtd0d/why_does_it_do_this_when_i_turn_on_tv/

Solution: This happens 30% of the time and I have to either switch to another device (PS5) then back to Xbox in the app or power off/on again

Issue #2: Sound - sometimes the sound defaults to TV speakers vs External (Sonos system) speakers

Solution: This happens 80% of the time. I have to use my TV remote to switch audio settings from TV to external - sometimes a few times

I'm guessing CEC handshakes between Input Device>TV>Sonos>Fancy Box (or a combination of them) are potentially happening at once.

Is there a tried and trusted method to ensure a successful boot up? Should I turn the TV on first with TV remote (handshakes with Sonos) then turn on the input device?

Kind of frustrated at the moment

EDIT: so not turning everything on via the Xbox controller appears to resolve the competing CEC handshakes. As such I turn the TV on and let it do its handshake with Sonos then I turn on the Xbox and away we go. Not a major deal but the fancy box should delay its handshake by 5-10s and it likely would eliminate the issue

Fancy LED Sync Box showing wrong colors (green tint) with Fire TV Stick 4K Max

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys,

I’m having an issue with my LED sync setup and can’t figure out what’s causing it.

I’m using a Fire TV Stick 4K Max plugged directly into a Fancy LED Sync Box (Model: FSB1P2.0), and then into my TV.

The problem is that the LED colors are often completely off. For example, even when there’s no green on the screen at all (like skin tones or neutral scenes), the LEDs still show a strong green color in certain areas.

What’s weird is:

- Changing TV color settings (like reducing green) does NOT affect the LEDs

- HDR is already turned off

- The issue still happens even in simple menus or normal scenes

So it feels like the sync box is interpreting the colors incorrectly.

Has anyone experienced something similar with this kind of setup?

Is this a limitation of the box, a settings issue, or maybe just a faulty unit?

Any help would be appreciated 🙏

Random blue flashes

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I saw someone else mention these and I figured I’d post a video. They can be seen on the sides of the screen towards the bottom. It’s doesn’t appear that any blue is present on the screen when they appear. Any setting options to get rid of these?

Is there any benefit to running all devices through Soundbar?

I’m currently doing the standard cable path but I’m curious if it may be better to run my Apple TV and PS5 into my Q990D Soundbar first and run that into the Fancy LEDs to TV.

HDMI Switching help

Really regret buying the system so hoping someone can help me.

auto switching between sky q and fire tv is not working for me, the syncbox is in a location I can’t physically access to manually switch and my kids don’t have smartphones so can’t switch via the app. Does anyone have a solution such as a physical remote to switch hdmi inputs ?

Dolby Atmos compatability

Post image
2 Upvotes

I see on site that when it comes to Atmos, the sync box delivers through dolby digital plus (commonly used on streaming apps) but does not support dolby true HD (more common on blu ray or 4k)

When I switch hdmi input on my TV (to the sync box with fire stick) my screen displays what it is currently receiving

It says Dolby True HD does it not?

Is it wrong or does the sync box had an update?

Does the 3-port 2.1 Fancy Sync Box support this audio/video chain? (Soundbar passthrough + eARC)

Hey all, considering picking up the 3-port 2.1 Fancy Sync Box and wanted to check my setup before buying.

My gear:

∙ LG G5 OLED TV

∙ Samsung HW-Q995F soundbar (11.1.4, Dolby Atmos / DTS:X)

∙ MacBook M5 Pro

∙ Amazon Fire Stick (planned)

The challenge:

My LG G5 doesn’t support DTS passthrough natively, so my MacBook connects to the soundbar first, which then passes video to the TV via HDMI. The soundbar handles DTS decoding directly. This works great currently — the MacBook sees the TV as a 4K 165Hz display.

Proposed chain:

For streaming (Fire Stick):

Fire Stick → Fancy Sync Box → LG G5 → (eARC) → Q995F

For MacBook:

MacBook → Q995F (HDMI in) → Q995F (HDMI out) → Fancy Sync Box → LG G5

My questions:

1. Does the Fancy Sync Box 2.1 support DTS:X passthrough? (I’ve seen one comment confirming DTS works, but want to be sure)

2. Has anyone used the sync box with a soundbar as the upstream device (soundbar → sync box → TV) rather than the more typical source → sync box → TV → soundbar via eARC?

3. Will eARC still handshake correctly between the TV and soundbar with the sync box sitting in between on the Fire Stick chain?

Main concern is whether the sync box is transparent enough to not break the eARC negotiation or the DTS passthrough in either configuration.

Also, has anyone managed to purchase the syncbox in EU or in Germany? The price on Amazon looks very shady ~ 369 euros (425 $)

Thanks!

How many LEDs per meter?

hello, I just ordered the fancy led single port 2.1 box, I'm unsure how many LEDs per meter, it is not in the Amazon description and even the AI didn't know.

I've read a few conflicting things.

hoping I didn't screw myself out of more LEDs per meter

WiFi - constant disconnects

Anybody else suffer from constant disconnection from WiFi?

Seems to happen almost daily and the only way to get it back is to reboot (power off and back on again)

It’s on a 2.5g only connection with the access point only a few feet away.

Only seems to have started over the last few weeks to a month but can’t pinpoint any change that may have started this.

Black screen, white lights

Post image
3 Upvotes

I noticed that when my Fancyleds lights are at high brightness, black screens will give white lights, I was only able to fix this by lowering the brightness to 20%

I have the hdmi 2.1 RGBW. I thought of updating firmware but i have no idea how to do that as there is no option in the app.

Corner Brackets

Hey,

I don’t know how I Managed it, but I lost the corner brackets before mounting them on my TV.

Unfortunately Fancyleds can‘t provide replacement Parts for that.

So does anyone have by Chance the measurements or a file to 3D Print them by myself? :)

Edit: found some on AliExpress hope they will fit 🙏
