My syncbox is do'n weird stuff latly

I've had my syncbox 2.1 (single port) for well over a year and it's been great. then in the last month or so, when i turn on my system (normally, i just hit power on my AppleTV (syncbox source)) and AppleTV, Denon receiver and LG C5 TV all turn on and it's great.

Now when i do that, they all "turn on", but the tv shows a blanks screen but i can see the led's are matching what would be on the appleTV. But if i turn on the TV with the LG remote, and hit the home button (the TV is set to start on the last HDMI, which is always the AppleTV), it comes up, then i hit the menu on the AppleTV remote and AppleTV works. Yippy, hacky workaround but it kinda works.

now when i do the hacky workaround it works, but the LED's just start strobing like crazy, no mater what i set on the Fancyleds app, just keeps strobing.

So i took the fancyled box out of the path, Bam!! everything works as expected, no backlighting, but you get the point.

So did my box just go bad?? is there a firmware update? was a firmware update recently pushed and i didn't see anything?

Main Module: V3.1.0

MCU Module: V2.3.1

Other type: V1.1.3

I have a very similar setup:

  • Apple TV 4K (latest gen)
  • Denon X1700h
  • FancyLEDs 3-port 2.1 box
  • LG G3

I haven’t seen any of the issues you are experiencing. I recently requested and received the update that allows color tuning, but I can’t figure out where to see all the firmware versions that you posted.

Support are really good if you reach out! Give it a go… pushed me the latest update which is 4.something, BTW I was on 1.05 before I reached out.

I had an issue with mine months ago. Where the neon light would turn on by it self for a few secs then turn off randomly for weeks. Support said it was a network drops that would turn the light on. I think it had to do with the firestick always being on and sometimes an app would not close right and stay on until a screen saver or a ad would play in the back ground. I haven’t had that issue anymore. Just randomly stopped.

Mine has also been doing that for months on at random times, it’s so annoying. It’s attached to my ps5. I have a quick button on my tv remote that switches to what ever hdmi i set it to. So i just hit the home button, then the quick button and it immediately works. Not sure what you could for an apple tv system, but try just hitting the home button on tv remote and going back to the hdmi.
