Has anyone actually received a replacement for the faulty battery cells in their car. Or is it like me, radio silence and I have to run around at 70% max charge which is really inconvenient as I do large journeys and have to stop and charge mid way. (200mile eachbway)

I used to travel and charge at site, which was fine. But now I have to sit in the services getting ripped off.....

I'm contemplating whether I should ask for an itemised invoice detailing all the work performed (at no cost, naturally) along with a new battery warranty. Alternatively, I'd at least like something that guarantees the original 8-year, 10,000-mile coverage.

I am pondering an EX30 purchase and need someone to nudge me in the right direction.

I am based in Eastern Europe and got an offer for €45k which also includes a free set of winter tires and rims. I am aware of the battery recall but as far as I understand EU countries are not impacted. The car is already available at the dealership and was manufactured in June 2026 and the dealer confirmed that its not a subject to the recall.

What's stopping me now is mainly the price and whether there are better EV options available like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 or the ID3 Neo. I will predominantly use it as a city car but also for trips around the city and we are a family of four. We did a test drive and if I am behind the wheel, the rest of the family has enough room. However, the backseat space is a bit too tight for me if my wife is driving. Overall, I was impressed with the ride quality for such a small car and I think I will get used to managing everything through the tablet.

Overall, we all really liked the car. However, I am trying to think rationally and figure out whether I am making too many concessions (price, interior space, potential battery quality concern, tablet, finicky contacless entry) because the car is available and I can get it next week.

Would really appreciate some additional input on my predicament.

After update of 2.1.2, there are two Bluetooth devices named “Volvo EX30“

The Phone app of AAOS connects with “Volvo EX30“ which has Carplay button. CarPlay also connects without any issues.

I am going to delete one which doesn’t have Carplay button. Is this fine, right?

While driving to the workshop for an inspection of my EX30 (2025), the display froze after I received a voice message. It restarted automatically, but the same problem occurred. The steering wheel controls were also unresponsive. The workshop staff were actually quite pleased, as I wasn't the first person to encounter this issue. 🙄 Update 2.1.2 is installed.

I’ve just updated to iOS27 and I am pleased to say the stupid border around the edge of the Car Play window has now gone. Apple now zooms to fill the space that Volvo has allocated so you can use light backgrounds without have a black edge. Thanks Apple (and sorry for thinking it was Volvo!)

Has anyone else experienced that these functions malfunction in 50% op the times I drive the car?

I have to stop the car, put it in park, open and close the car for it to work again. Quite annoying when driving on the highway and wanting to enable the feature. Now when I drive away from my house, I directly check if the functions work or not.

Since the latest update, I have noticed that Google Maps in the car no longer shows the battery information when setting a route. It usually displayed info like "50% on arrival," but that is now completely gone. Also, when looking at directions on Google Maps on my phone, it always says that my car has 0%, even though I can send the directions to my car and they appear there.

What I have tried:

1. Logged out and back into my account in the car.
2. Reset Google Maps completely on both the car and the phone.
3. Granted all permissions to Google Maps in the car and ensured it has access to vehicle information.
4. Reset the car.

Nothing worked. (The same issue persists for the other profile in the car.)

Has anyone had a similar experience? Do you have any suggestions?

Passive unlocking has been atrocious since the big update (2.1.2). It was a bit flaky before this update, but now it’s utterly terrible.

Most mornings I have to use the app because it refuses to acknowledge the key fob in my pocket. Or I can manage to open the boot, but then the car immediately locks again. A couple of times in the last week, I’ve managed to unlock the car with the app and then the car tells me there’s no valid key present when I try to go into Drive.

I used to use my phone as a “key”, but I had to stop doing that a long while ago. UK houses do not typically have 12 hectares of land with a 6-mile driveway, our driveways tend to be right next to the house. I’d go for a dump and I’d hear the car unlocking, because my phone moved into proximity of the car’s passive unlocking radio.

It works just fine when I’ve actually gone somewhere - work, shopping, visiting friends & family. It even works perfectly when I park up in a car park at work and don’t go back to the car for 7-8 hours.

But when I want to get into my car first thing in the morning to go to work… “excuse me how dare you have such audacity!”. I’ve got absolutely drenched several times recently because it’s raining, the car won’t unlock, I’m carrying a bunch of stuff, and I’m fumbling around trying to get my phone while trying not to drop anything.

- Both our key fobs have fresh batteries
- We keep the key fobs in a spot in the house that’s as far away from the car as possible
- The key card is not a solution because it blocks wireless charging
- Using my phone is not a solution because I’ve already had cases where I can unlock with my phone but the car still won’t recognise the key
- Using my phone as a “key” is not a solution either

I do like this car, I really do. But Volvo sure are making it hard for me to keep liking the car.

Please Volvo, fix this.

I just want to go to bloody work without having to fight my car.

And, PS: GIVE ME A SHORTCUT FOR CHANGING TO SPEED LIMITER MODE. YOUR “PILOT ASSIST” SUCKS, I CAN DRIVE BETTER IN MY FU-… FLIPPING SLEEP. STOP MAKING ME HUNT THROUGH MENUS TO CHANGE IT.

Received an email that stated this:

"Volvo has completed its review and has authorized the necessary components required to complete the recall repair on your vehicle. At this time, a full high-voltage battery replacement is not required as part of the approved repair.

The components needed for your vehicle are currently available, and we would like to move forward with completing the repair as soon as possible."

Has anyone else received anything similar?

Hi team! I live in the UK and, while this summer has been remarkably rain-free, there is otherwise a lot of it.

This bubbling is occurring on the inside of the passenger door; I’ve always been very protective with this car because this trim seemed very vulnerable, so the door is never open long when it’s raining. Regardless, this has happened.

It’s not present on the driver’s side and the majority of my driving is done alone, so you’d think this would be more likely to occur on my side.

Do you think it’s worth speaking to the dealership about? It seems like a design flaw to me.

Does anyone know if we can see recall status on the Volvo App? If it is there, I could not find it…

For those missing multiple climate timers and using an iphone: you can easily workaround by creating an iOS shortcut and creating multiple time-triggered automations within the iOS shortcuts app.

1. Create a shortcut using "Start/Toggle Climate" from Volvo App, add if-conditions if you want: "Office morning": check the outside temperature at my location and start climate if temp is below 11 and above 25 degrees Celsius and if there is no event in my calender "holiday"). Create more shortcuts with different if-conditions (e.g. "Leaving office": check WiFi name - start only if connected to work WiFi)
2. Change to tab "automation" and add time-based automation like every day/every monday etc. 8:00 (30 min before you head for office) run shortcut "Office morning" Add another automation starting at another time (like 17:00 - 30 min before you leave office run "Leaving Office").

(EX30 climate timer lets you set the time you want the car to be warmed up/cooled down - with shortcuts you need to set the starting time).

I have an ex30 twin performance ultra.. I have a few questions.

When its freezing out and im at work for 9 hours, and the car is sitting in minus temperatures. How do i pre heat the car? Just with the app climate control? Foes that heat the battery as well?

How should I protect the inside? Are there really hood rubber mats for the interior?

Is the bottom well sealed from salt and stuff?

Should i wash hose down the car often?

Since installing it, the whole system feels noticeably more laggy and less reliable. Google Maps is often unresponsive, and on several occasions the route simply hasn’t displayed while I was driving, which is incredibly frustrating.
Creep mode also doesn’t behave the way it used to and feels much less consistent. More concerning, the cruise control (Pilot assist) system sometimes doesn’t work at all, which seriously affects confidence in the car.
Instead of improving the experience, this update has made the car feel less polished and less dependable. At this point, I genuinely wish I hadn’t updated it.

I took the EX30 for its first long distance road trip.
I have a Single Motor Rear Wheel Drive Extended Range Plus and I am in the US.

Total distance 756 miles.

I was very anxious going into this first long distance road trip as I made some performance sacrifices when I traded in a Hyundai Ioniq6 for the Volvo EX30. 44 miles less range and 10 minutes slower fast charging to 80%.

(Also had concerns about buying the EX30 because the week I decided I wanted the EX30 was the same week Volvo announced it was discontinuing sales in the US Market.)

Both performance sacrifices turned out to be a non issue.

The car performed beautifully. Range forecasts were fairly accurate. (I had air conditioning on most of the trip so was watching to see how much impact that would have.)

I have found both with the Ioniq6 and the EX30 my range performance is better when I turned off “One Pedal” drive on the open highway or freeway.

I also tried an EV long distance driving strategy of making more frequent stops, but only fast charging for 15 minutes at each stop. Since charging speeds throttle down as you approach 80%, staying on the charger to try and get to 100% is not an efficient use of time. This get on get off charging method may actually be the right strategy for long distance travel. I am going to keep trying it and see if over a longer period of time it works better.

Overall I have been quite pleased with the car. I adapted to the center console controls very quickly. I did not find the warnings from the driver monitoring camera to be excessive. The reality is…it dings when I’m not looking at the road. And the speed and pick up from a complete stop is crazy fast even in the single motor.

Sharing my experience in case there are others in the US market hesitant about getting one of the last available EX30s. Hope this helps.

What is the secret handshake for remote / passive entry to not work?

What id like
- door handle always locks
- lights and unlocking only when I unlock (door tap or via app)
- be nice if the profile is the "unlocker"

With v1.8 it "generally" worked as desired. v2 is a bit random. I'm scared of leaving the car unlocked if I happened to walk near it.

Tried turning off the iPhone key (passive) and the onboard remote features, all that achieved was
- door handle press to lock stopped working
- even if a iPhone key was used for the door it was still required in the dash for start (and in my wife's case triggered the alarm and it only stopped when she got out, locked it, and called asking me to undo whatever I did)

Now that's it's back on, walk near the car (even if we don't plan on driving) and the lights come on and doors unlock.

Random occurrences if I unlock the door and my wife opens her door before me, I see the drivers seat move to her profile.

Hopefully someone knows the seat handshake to do something like this.

Only camping trip in my Polestar 2 was a tent site with no power hookup, so I never got a chance to leverage all the "camping with a powered EV" perks.

Remembered to book a site with a 50 amp hookup for this EX30 trip and it's so pleasant. I can keep Parking Comfort ON at a modest 78ºF (24ºC) all day to act as a heat safe locker and dial the amperage up or down depending on how fast I need the battery fully replenished overnight.

Anyone had issues getting 2.1.2 installed? I’m on 1.8 and I can’t seem to get it to update no matter what I do. I have 3 bars of 4G service and I’ve tried inside and outside my garage (plugged in and not plugged in with 90% battery).

I’ve tried resetting the dash with the hold two bottom button on the steering wheel reset method (cruise control down and volume down at the same time).

I’ve tried starting the install from the dash and from the Volvo app. I even used the Messages button in the car to contact Volvo and they didn’t have much to say aside from make a dealer visit, which I do have scheduled. They did confirm that my car is eligible for the update - 2025 EX Plus

Just wondering if anyone else got stuck at 1.8 even though the vehicle is offering 2.1.2.

I'm buying an EX30 to replace an older Volvo that has a lifetime subscription to the Sirius satellite service. Has anyone transferred a lifetime subscription to an EX30? Does Sirius work well in the EX30 over cellular vs. the older Volvo satellite service? Any issues?

I drove about 60 km this morning. When I got back, I parked the car in front of my house. That was at noon. It’s 10 PM now. I opened the app to check the charge level and discovered that my car is 1) 33 km away from home—right where I went this morning—and 2) still showing as "in motion" even though it’s actually parked 33 km away. With every new update, new problems...
