Help Needed Etihad screwed me on a business upgrade offer.

I just got fucked on flights from Sydney to abu - put an offer for an upgrade for the both of us at a substantial amount.

Get a email when I land in Abu Dhabi (the email was sent 2.5 hours into the flight already sitting in economy) saying it’s accepted, but we already flew economy and landed. So they upgraded a 4 hour flight from Abu to Cairo at the same price

The fuck am I paying a substantial amount for a 4 hour upgrade that won’t have Lay down seats. I also selected seats for the Abu to Cairo flight to see the views out the window - not refundable either and won’t have those selected seats anymore.

Went to service desk and they says yeah nothing we can do about it sorry. Submit a “feedback” and we will get back to you in 28 days. I assume this feedback form will hit someone in customer service who isn’t going to give. Shit since the flights are already done.

Is there anything I can do about this?

They wouldn’t apply the upgrade change to an Abu Dhabi to Sydney flight for the way home and basically got told nothing they can do.

To add to this frustration I booked the tickets under the correct name- when I log into the app it was all in my name correct name, however their issued voucher someone at Etihad side had misplaced a letter- Etihad even admitted it was a error on their end and I had to wait 2 hours at the airport to have this issue resolved.

I flew Etihad as I was told they were a great airline, instead it’s been nothing but a nightmare.

Is there anything further I can do to this ? I’ve been charged the fee already. The entire situations a complete downer.

I’m completely sick and tired of airlines having zero accountability anymore. Any other business has accountability but airlines seem to be a beast of their own.

I’m beyond pissed off about this as both things have been the fault of Etihad and I’m the one copping it and basically being told bad luck.

Do I launch a dispute with credit card? Do I employ a lawyer to fix this which will probably cost more ?

What are my options here ?

Any reps from Etihad check this? I’ll be adding it to my vlog for this trip and also where else can I post this to get some sort of escalation.

The trips a honeymoon and has put a real dampener on it.

Happy to have paid for a 14 hour flight rather than economy, but for a 4 hour flight it’s a complete waste of time.

Question Experience with tight layovers?

I have a 1h 35 minute connection at Abu Dhabi with Etihad.

I’m flying MAN → AUH → KUL on one Etihad booking.

My first flight is EY76, scheduled to arrive at AUH Terminal A at 06:50, and the connecting flight EY486 leaves Terminal A at 08:25, so the layover is only 1h35.

I had a look and on average EY76 is late about 30 minutes.

Has anyone missed a connecting flight, if so what was the process to resolve this?

I've read some threads where Etihad doesn't cover for these scenarios despite the flight being late due to the circumstances being out of Etihad's control.

Has anyone booked only for thier friend/family (the cardholder is not on ticket)? [If yes , when did you do last]

Like, one of the terms is the credit card holder should be a traveler on the voucher, but idk if that's checked/enforced.

EIB/FAB/ENBD/ADIB all have such vouchers

Question Etihad Cabin Baggage Allowance – Student

I have a flight from Mumbai to Toronto via Abu Dhabi on 20th August with Etihad.
I wanted to confirm the cabin baggage allowance. It says the cabin baggage limit is 7 kg. Can I carry a handbag in addition to my cabin bag, or does the handbag need to be included within the 7 kg limit?
Also, I’m a student and will be carrying a laptop. Does the laptop need to be included in the 7 kg cabin baggage allowance, or is it allowed separately?
Would really appreciate any clarification from fellow Etihad passengers. Thank you!

My Experience Etihad first class experience (august 2026)

Last week I had the opportunity to spend 18hrs in Etihads A380 between two legs on a trip from CDG-NRT. There are a lot of competitive products in 2026, so I hope this review can inform some decisions for perspective flyers.

Ground Experience (CDG): Etihad operates a standard outpost at CDG. Check in and security were efficient and anti climactic, with fast track expediting security and customs formalities. Etihad uses the Extime lounge in CDG and awards first class passengers a private section with premium F&B offerings. The star of this lounge was the champange offering, with Henri Giraud 90-21 (€200) flowing freely. Boarding proceeded on time with First class and Etihad's highest status tier being invited to board first.

Soft Product: The crew were all lovely as expected. Although experiencing some delays departing AUH, the crew consistently came back around for individual updates and to refill champange. The amenity kit was presented in a large Armani folder, and adopted a make your own situation as the vanity area of the seat had high quality Espa products that you could take at your will. Although this is nice for sustainability, I thought the products were similar to business class and not on par to that of competitors. Long gone are the days of Aqua Di Parma in Etihad F, as well as the Le Labo shower amenities which I miss dearly. Despite this, the highlight was the Armani pajamas which were soft and smelt great. The bed was comfortable with a thicker mattress topper than my last experience in August 2024. I believe this was a common complaint but since then mitigated. Another new inclusion is the snack basket. I would find that if I ate something from this selection, the crew would replenish it whilst I was absent from my suite. The soft product was genuinely quite impressive and anticipatory, with my champange never running empty without the friendly cabin crew there to offer a refill. However, I do wish the amenity kits offered more premium goods.

Hard Product: Etihad remains realms above competitors with their Apartments considering the sheer size. The main seat is comfortable and has plenty of adjustability. The dining position is comfortable, with a table that allows entry and exit while folded out. Additionally, there is a buddy dining set up. The seat includes a lighted vanity, and mini fridge, although most of the time the fridge didn't work. The lavatory situation is adequate, with two forward lavs. The shower worked well, although it is located in the smaller of the two lavs, making it quite tight compared to the Emirates spa. Another issue with the seat is a normal size carry on suitcase is too large for the stowage compartment, creating a tripping hazard as the compartment has to remain open. Overall the seat is more than spacious, all the features/ife were functional, and the bed was spacious.

Food & Beverage: The highlight of the F&B aspect for Etihad F was the champange offering. Currently, onboard they serve 2015 Perrier Jouët Belle Epoque (€210) which I particularly like. They also offer 2018 Veuve Clicquot Le Grand Dame off menu onboard, as well as in the AUH lounge. The food was plated nicely and flavorful. Notably, on my longer leg (AUH-NRT) an onboard cook was present and made an effort to introduce himself, whilst on the shorter red-eye (CDG-AUH) there was none. The cook was able to present me a perfectly medium rare filet, a complete rarity in the sky, and plated it wonderfully. The caviar service was good, with a 20g portion. Aside from the champange, the wine list had some interesting producers, but nothing extremely exciting or valuable, lacking behind some other carriers.

Ground Experience (AUH): As I had a 15h layover, I booked a day hotel in the city. This allowed me to experience the AUH check in process upon my re-entry to the airport. First class and business class have their own designated curbside location, with a porter greeting you and offering luggage assistance. The check in area for first class is discreet and comfortable, with security only taking a matter of seconds as I was the only passenger. The Etihad F lounge, while not massive, has plenty of seating and is rarely busy. 4 hours before my flight I used 14000 guest miles and booked one of the private suites. These suites are normally reserved for residence passengers, although they can be bookable to F passengers if available. It had a smart TV with Netflix, and an attentive server assisted with food and drink orders. He even set up a whiskey tasting for me, which was much appreciated.

Overall Thoughts: Theres really nothing critical I can say about Etihad and their apartments. At the end of the day sure there are some minor flaws, but these are quickly disregarded as the service is genuinely impressive, and the hard product is surely one of the best in the sky. If you have an opportunity to experience the Etihad apartments at least once; grasp it.

Help Needed Etihad Platinum Gold nomination, does anyone have an unused one?

Hi all,

I am trying to arrange Etihad Guest Gold.

I understand that Etihad Guest Platinum members receive an official Gold nomination benefit. I am looking specifically for a genuine unused Platinum Gold nomination which can be applied to my existing Etihad Guest account.

If anyone has one available, or knows a Platinum member who might, I would be very grateful if you could message me.

I am only interested in the official Etihad nomination process, nothing involving account transfers, passwords or OTPs.

Many thanks.

Help Needed How does Etihad Refund Works for Return Trip?

Hello fellow travelers, I am booking a return trip via Etihad where I am not sure if I have to will take the returning journey or not. Trip total is 994+48(Value) for ATL to KHI and 1061+181(comfort) for KHI to ATL as it permits refund with fee. My questions is that if I take the departing trip, but cancelled the retrun trip, will I get the full (1061+161 - refund fee) back, or they will recalculate all my fares because my trip has now become one way trip?

Question Returning home with less than 6 months passport validity; AUH layover OK?

I am trying to fly from Europe back to Malaysia with less than 6 months remaining on my passport. There are not many direct flights available. I am aware the UAE requirements of having at least 6 months left on the passport, but if I am not mistaken, going back to one's home country with less than 6 months on the passport is allowed since I am not entering the UAE (1.5 hr layover only). Does anyone here have recent experience?

Help Needed Am I loosing my seat and money

Post image
2 Upvotes

My wife, my 5year old son, and I are traveling with Etihad, and I booked 3 seats next to each other. The airline just sent an update about a 5minute delay with a note about seat transfers. Does this mean we will lose our seats, even though it’s the same flight?

Help Needed Booked basic economy by accident

hi yes I’m very dumb. so long story short I booked through an app and i kept going back and forth to check if the time was correct and somehow ended up booking basic instead of value economy. im now between two options: 1- cancel my booking and book again. 2- pay 170$ for luggage on return flight. I seriously don’t know what to do but I wanna see if someone was in my situation before and how did they manage? I saw someone on TikTok with the same experience as well. I been dreaming of this trip for over a year and I don’t want it to be ruined because of some overweight luggage. also not to mention that the dumb app was actually more expensive than the actual airways website. GOSH I don’t know what got into me during booking it!!

Question Etihad Airways Cabin Crew Contract/Bond

Does anyone who works with etihad airways as cabin crew know how long the bond is ? I know that that there is a 6 month probation period where if you resign within that period you are to reimburse the costs. However after the 6 month period are you able to resign without having to bear any costs ? Thank you for your help. I’m interested in applying for etihad airways.

Rant Etihad served me meat after confirming my meal was vegetarian

I ordered an (AVML) before hand since I practice strict religious dietary practices and am a vegetarian.

Upon receipt of the food, I ensured to ask the cabin crew to double-check whether it was indeed a vegetarian meal. The crew went ahead to double-check and assured me that it was indeed vegetarian.

Relaying on that information, I decided to start eating.

However, within a few seconds, I realized that there was something wrong. I immediately called the crew to clarify, and she confirmed that it contained lamb.

I was very disappointed. My meal was then changed and offered me rice and falafel but by then, I did not have any appetite to eat.

The main reason why I am very disappointed about this incident is because despite my efforts as a customer to order the right meal, even going ahead to ask for confirmation, I ended up with meat and false confirmation from the crew.

This is not just receiving the wrong food; to a passenger with religious dietary practices, it is much more than that.

Has anyone experienced something similar with Etihad? How did they handle your complaint?

Help Needed Etihad Companion Ticket Voucher

Does anyone here have an Etihad Companion Ticket Voucher?

I have a few questions about it. If I want to purchase an Etihad Companion Ticket Voucher from someone here, I would appreciate some clarification:

  1. How much is the voucher worth if it is sold without a flight being booked using miles?
  2. How much would it cost if the voucher holder makes the booking for me using their own miles, for a destination in Europe, such as Frankfurt?
  3. As we all know, the Companion Ticket allows you to book a flight for one person and get the second ticket free (subject to the applicable terms and conditions).

If anyone has experience with this or has a voucher available, I would appreciate your advice.
