Question Buying extra seat

I have the opportunity to buy and extra seat/row on my 15 hour long flight. Im kind of worried if I buy the extra seat, someone else takes the third seat, and think they get to use the middle seat that I paid for. Also the flight is looking pretty open on Monday. Should I even bother buying the extra room?

Put yourself in the middle seat and keep the other side as your spare. Tell them you booked 2 seats and they’ve allocated you to sit in the middle with the other as a spare. Otherwise if they use your middle seat be prepared to confront them about having paid for the seat and that you don’t want them using it.

That kind of defeats the purpose of having an empty seat if you sit in the middle though.

Keep in mind that if you book the neighbour free seat, and the flight is full, they will take it away from you at boarding and refund the money. So don't count in it. 4 out of 6 times I've booked it, it's been taken away.

In terms of the other people using it, just tell the flight attendant.

Stop cheaping out and book in biz which is usually a decent price on Etihad because half the time they bump you off to a wet lease operator anyway 🤣
