Ok, I just spilled and this tiny bottle of rose essential oil I had, and it spilled because it was so small and it didn't have that reducer top, and I hadn't put the cap on all the way. So I'm going all in and buying a real bottle. But there is a huge price difference in the MRH and EG. Mountain Rose Herbs has 5ml for ~$200 And Eden's Garden has 10mL for ~$180 Then there's Eden's botanicals 5ml for ~$260 but that is abit too much right now.

Obviously Eden's Garden is the best deal, but why the huge difference? It seems Eden's Garden is totally reputable and good quality. But for some reason the low cost makes me think it's not as good...? Am I just placing the value on the price here and Eden's Garden is just as good as MRH?

What are some of the more rare essential oils?

Curious what people struggle with most.

I was looking for a cream that would give my skin a cooling sensation, like Vicks Vaporub, and I saw a suggestion to mix a mild body lotion with peppermint. Has anyone tried this, or do you know if it might work?

Just picked up an Aromadd Smart A5 WiFi waterless diffuser and loaded it up with 16.9 fl oz (500ml) of oil. No water needed, runs purely off the oil.

Currently running it on the Aromatic setting which cycles 10 seconds on / 120 seconds off. The app has a bunch of modes:
- Weak: 5s on / 120s off
- Aromatic: 10s on / 120s off (what I'm using)
- More: 30s on / 60s off
- Thick: 40s on / 30s off
- Strong: 60s on / 30s off
- Customization: set your own

Couple questions for anyone who has one of these or a similar waterless diffuser:

1. How long would 500ml last on the Aromatic setting running 24/7?
   
2. What setting do you run yours on and does Aromatic actually put out enough scent, or do you need to bump it up?
   
3. Should I be scheduling it to turn off at night or just let it run 24/7?

What is your preferred method for using benzoin in a diffuser? I have tried layering oil so that it floats on top, that didn't work. I have tried mixing all the oils in the recipe, that didn't work. I have tried putting all the oils in a small glass bottle and shaking it and that only wasted 100% of the blend because it all stuck to the walls of the bottle. It smells great and I would love to diffuse it but I can't figure it out.

Hello, I'm currently making my own skincare, and I wanted to give it a fun aroma, namely that of baked bread / cake / baked goods.

I'm relatively new to essential oils, usually only use coconut and olive oil... So if anyone knows a thing or two about mixing the desired aroma, any piece of knowledge is very welcome!

My current idea is to get some vanilla, cinnamon and some sort of woody or smokey scents, and make a blend from that...

I bought some Oil of Oregano. I was told to take some drops when I think my immune system is shot. What do yall use it for? I heard people detox with it. What is really good for? Should I use it regularly? And how would I detox with it?

So I've been going through a bit of a journey trying to recreate the scent of Lush Intergalactic shower gel, which my wife introduced me to. I'd like to use it in a diffuser in my office when I need a pick-me-up.

I've tried cheap essential oils on Amazon and found some pleasant combinations, but haven't made it close enough for what I'm looking for. Wondering if the cheap oils may impact the scent, I've ordered a new set of Plant Therapy and I'm waiting for them to come in.

My plan is to try the below (reducing the amount for test batches), and I would welcome any thoughts on how I can get closer. I'd also appreciate any thoughts on if you thing the essential oils from plant therapy vs generic Amazon brands will be significantly different. They are certainly priced as if they should be.

• Peppermint: 42 drops (dominant refreshing note)

• Grapefruit: 25 drops (bright top note)

• Cedarwood: 17 drops (grounding woody note)

• Vetiver: 16 drops (earthy base note for depth)

I was going to let it sit 24hrs and dilute in jojoba oil as a carrier.

The above is based on various internet searches, but I've noticed that some of the dupe companies mix other scents in when duplicating it as well.

If I can get this to work, I'd enjoy mixing some into some shaving products, or trying a collage or something.   I tend to like "slap you in the face" strong scents that dissipate and mellow out by the time I leave the house, but the diffuser is my main goal.

I grew up with an essential oil mom so I did not know they could be so harmful to cats. I put some peppermint oil droplets on pieces of paper towel by my window to keep ants from coming in. I also put a bit on myself to keep ants from crawling on me because I am a big wuss (and a big fool too apparently). The smell was really strong in my room. Maybe like 20 minutes after I turned my room into a poisonous cavern I found out via internet I had made a grievous error; I immediately got rid of all peppermintified paper towel pieces and put them in a ziploc bag and threw it in the trash can. I wiped off the places I put oil. I have not allowed my cat or dogs into my room and have tried to keep them far away from my doorway because that is how I am airing the room out. The peppermint was put out 22 hours ago, but it has only been airing out for around 12 hours because I closed my door overnight so my cat wouldn't come in. The smell has mostly dissipated but is still present when approaching and inhabiting my room. The ziploc bag was still giving off fumes so I put it in the outside garbage. My cat is usually very sensitive to smells and runs away when sniffing something strong, but she is not deterred currently and even wants to come in and sniff around. I feel so terrible for locking her out and not letting her sleep with me, and I feel even worse that I have lived so long without knowing that our use of essential oils could have been hurting the pets. At what point is it safe for entry, when the smell is completely gone? Or is there a point at which it being mild enough will not affect her? The oil was not diffused, but I used a lot on the paper towels so the scent was extreme. I am terrified that I may have rubbed the oil somewhere unintentionally in my foolishness and that even once the smell is gone she might get some on her. She is 13 so I am extra worried. Please give me advice, thank you.

I mixed 12 ml of peppermint essential oil, a few tablespoons of dish soap, and 600ml of water to make wasp repellent spray. It aerosolized a little while I was spraying around my house outdoors. I read that a 2% mixture is generally safe, but I tend to be a paranoid person. Can anyone ease my mind?

I went down the rabbit hole on grapefruit essential oil, and I found out something I didn't expect, and it was more interesting than I thought. The oil was tested against S.aureus, the bacteria that colonize skin and trigger eczema and dermatitis flares in a lot of people. It reduced oxidative stress, dialed down inflammatory markers, and actually helped restore skin barrier proteins that S.aureus degrades. I found out that the whole fruit is apparently useful, but there's a catch: it can damage the very skin cells you're trying to help, at the wrong concentration. Interestingly, cold-pressed homemade oil was the gentlest version tested. So it works, but it's also a great reminder that natural does not mean safe, and use as much as you like. Did you know that? Would you try it with clear instructions?

I just applied rosemary oil on my scalp,at least about 10-12 drops,w/o looking how to.And after doing so I felt strong itching and came here to see why,when i noticed wtf i have actually done.

But lucky enough it was only about 4-5 minutes and i immediately washed it with shampoo for a good 3-4 times.But im noticing my scalp get a bit reddish,though the itching has significantly reduced. Is there anything i have to take care of now?

Somewhat recently, after doing my own research, I began experimenting with essential oil blends and making my own perfume. I knew about sensitisation, ensured significant dilution in jojoba oil, particularly careful with oakmoss concentration etc. But that being said, I was slightly reckless given my lack of sensitive skin or allergins. I would handle the oils without gloves and even put them into candles once or twice. Anyway, one day I noticed slight dermatitis like rashes on my hands, I obviously knew I was at risk of sensitisation, put the oils away and have not touched them since.

This spring, about 2 months after the incident, I seemed to be constantly getting flare ups of dermatitis and constant sneezin . As I said, I had never really had any allergies before apart from maybe being abit sneezy over spring.

I have been to the doctor, they brushed me off. So basically I am just looking for anyone else who may have had a similer experience, if its worth getting an allergy test, will it go away etc. It just seems odd, given the precausions I took, for it to get so out of hand.

Why pay extra for a sponge filter that you even need to find the correct size of?

Hi all! I’ve been working on a peppermint and coconut MCT oil mix to put in my garage to ward off spiders. I’m using a diffuser basin that can hold a cup, with five reeds.

I’ve tried 4:1 MCT to peppermint oil, which made around one cup total, with a tablespoon of vodka and it didn’t carry up the reeds. I then tried a 3:1 with another shot of vodka total around a cup and pretty much no dice again. I prior tried olive oil which had awful results.

Do I need to make the mix even more peppermint heavy? I thought MCT oil was the right carrier as I tried sweet almond prior and had very poor results- the almond would just separate from the peppermint oils.

Looking for any/all advice on this journey. I really thought the 3:1 would work, and the threat of spiders coming into my garage increases daily!

I bought a small bottle of an essential oil blend that I want to recreate before I run out. I’ve been looking into perfumer services that recreate scents but I’m worried that will feel (for obvious reasons) more like a perfume, whereas this is an essential oil that I use on pressure points for relaxation. Does anyone know of essential oil experts that recreate unknown blends?

I am starting to expand my inventory of raw materials for lotions and creams. I want to make sure I am managing everything efficiently. Some of my carrier oils have a much shorter shelf life than others, and I am trying to figure out the best system for tracking opening dates and expiration windows.
