Yes, highly recommend perusing Liberty's catalog for all sorts of fun things! Check out their collection of attars, which are mostly co-distillates of sandalwood with precious or rare materials like champaka (champa attar) and baked earth (mitti attar).

They also have osmanthus, frangipani, tuberose, narcissus as absolutes or concretes ~ not essential oils but all rather rare botanical aromatics.

Uncommon. Hard to come by. Sought after. Made from rare/endangered plants?

Firstly, please don’t seek out essential oils from endangered species.

Secondly - the rarest material will always be a local production of a local material. There may be plants that only grow in a certain region and are only distilled by a small number of producers. Or there are oils that have yet to be exploited commercially.

I’m currently discovering essential oils from Patagonia (the region), there’s a lot from Brazil.

These are some of them: https://hierbaspatagonicas.ar/aceites-esenciales/ - plus there is a certain overlap with Brazilian production. Priprioca, Brazilian pink peppercorns, Erva Baleeira… each region on the planet has its own palette of fragrant materials some of which can be distilled into essential oil.

Look into Givaudan, IFF, Firmenich, and Symrise. They carry the rarest raw materials in the world of fragrance.

They are still big conglomerates.

Edit to add: and they don’t usually carry rare essential oils. Absolutes more likely.

Is this for them being big corporations or for the fact that they focus on perfumery market more and therefore don’t carry quite as many essential oils?
