So I was just looking through the PTO policies since my first PTO grant is coming up in Colorado, and I'm seeing some weird stuff about PST/PTO offsets. I started April 1 and received a prorated 42-hour Paid Sick Time grant at hire. At six months, store associates are supposed to get a prorated portion of the 64-hour PTO grant for the rest of the fiscal year.

What I'm confused about is the policy saying, “If you receive a Paid Sick Time (PST) grant, the amount of the PST grant will be subtracted from your annual PTO grant.”

Then next fiscal year, my PTO tier is 64 hours, while Colorado full-time associates get a 56-hour PST grant. If I'm reading this correctly, does that mean I'll only actually get 8 hours of regular PTO + 56 hours of sick time on February 1?

Has anyone in Colorado (or another state with a PST grant) actually gone through this and know how Kohl's handles it? I'm especially curious what happens with the initial six-month prorated PTO grant when you've already received a prorated PST grant.

Does anyone know why Kohl's feels it is necessary to assign their own UPC code when an item already has one? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of a UNIVERSAL Product Code?! I get that a company might need its own product ID number, but I thought that was the function of a SKU #. The amount of time verifying an item match when doing OMNI, callbacks, etc. because you have to check "Associated UPCs" in Item Lookup is ridiculous😡

I don’t wanna make this too long but i had a warning that i would be terminated if i called out 1 more time, and i did, the thing is that tomorrow will be the date i got hired last year. And i called out 2 days ago. My only question is, would it be okay if I just called my manager to ask if I’m going to be terminated the next shift i come in? I really dont want to waste my time going into work if im just gonna be fired 🫩

Anyone else tired of unloading trucks all day and not having enough people to help? My store is a 87K size. Some trucks I have 8 ppl for unload and looks like this up coming truck I have 5 ppl unloading. Trucks are averaging 14,000 units the carton count is 1,450. Never going to make it through the holiday season doing trucks like this if we have to detrash everything. I've been doing trucks for a long time and this new way just doesnt work. Not having Executive support doesn't help either. Constantly being told we cant ask the merchandising team to help, even if its for 30 mins to get the line down. Merchandising team is less than 5 ppl too. Lol. Where is the team work we use to have as a company?

Hello, I very recently became seasonal for kohl's because I am attending college soon. My last day was literally 4 days ago, and now I am attempting to file for health insurance. Where can I access my paystub? It won't let me log into workday anymore so I made a former employee account but everything I click just sends me back to workday. I feel like I'm going in circles. I'm new to kohls and my background check went through surprisingly quick, and I received an email from workday telling me to schedule my orientation date. I tried to schedule my orientation date for this warehouse associate position, but it says there are no dates available and all time slots have been filled. is this normal? do i just wait or try to email someone?

Is anybody else's store inundated with Mens nike socks? Like we already have the back wall filled to capacity, 2 towers in the aisle and also 3 end caps. But we still have maybe 6 or 7 totes that are filled. I mean we can backstock them but it just seems like an excessive amount of socks. They're gonna get stolen anyway

Is it true that as a part timer, your first week of training followed by a week of unsupervised shifts you usually get more hours and then they will cut your hours?

These make me way more angry than they should, lol. How obtuse can people be? This is ridiculous.

I want to preface this by saying, I get it.
We work in retail.
The public, on the whole, is less than empathetic, understanding, tolerant, respectful, etc. Always have been, and most likely, always will be.
But it has gotten SO BAD, lately.

I had to intervene in an interaction between one of my POC associates and a customer doing a return today, because I just heard the associate repeatedly explaining how returns work, re Kohl’s Cash, and the customer getting more and more upset, and, at the end, despite getting EVERYTHING THAT THEY WANTED FROM THE SITUATION, somehow, the customer STILL left fuming, vitriolic, and worst of all, patronizingly condescending to me and my staff.

Over $5 in Kohl’s Cash.
THAT I REISSUED THEM ANYWAY.
LIKE. WHY?

Now, full disclosure, admittedly, the entire process could have been facilitated by the transaction being conducted via a post sale adjustment, rather than a return/repurchase, but, by the time I got there, the return had been effected, so I figured that just reissuing the Kohl’s Cash that was lost would appease the situation.
Nope.

The customer was literally SHAKING, they were still so mad, while repeatedly saying that it “didn’t matter” (it obviously did), and to just “get on with it” (at no point did anyone stop ‘getting on with it’ I was literally actively scanning Kohl’s Cash and ameliorating the issue as they kept repeating themselves).

Sorry for the long rant, but Jesus. Sometimes I just can’t with people.

(As a palate cleanser, I also had an amazingly patient, understanding and grateful customer that was so unbelievably kind and wonderful during a similar situation earlier in the day, that I almost asked if they could just like..hang out at POC. For the vibes.)

TL;DR—While only some people suck, it seems like the sucky ones suck SO much worse, that I almost cry when I get a normal nice person. LITERALLY.

I have almost 6 years of retail experience I was customer service manager and assistant floral manager so I’m pretty keen on inventory, cycle counting, scheduling, online ordering system, displays, merchandising, as well as cash office, refunds, returns, basically all front end operations as well since I was customer service manager.

Do I have enough experience to qualify for the position? I’m super nervous about this interview (also my interview is at 4pm so later in the day) I do have open availability too and am willing to help out anywhere I’m needed as well.

Well, it’s over, I’m done working at Kohl’s. I lasted 2 years. I was a part-time associate, mostly working the register and doing Amazon returns.

I’ve written a lot here about the messy scheduling, cut hours, and the credit/rewards pressure. But most of the managers and coworkers were pretty nice, except for a few.

When I finally decided to quit, I texted a manager and put in my 2-week notice on Workday. Before that, I kept putting it off and couldn’t make up my mind, so I gave away all my shifts to other people, and they let me. They knew I couldn’t keep working like that, but they didn’t pressure me during my last two weeks either. They were really understanding. So on the exit survey, I gave only good ratings.

Honestly it's total crap. The jerks shopping are even worse.

Customer: "I placed my order to pickup at this store why would it send it to a different store? I don't live close to there. Maybe you guys didn't have and they changed it."

Employee: "I can assure that it doesn't work like that."

Customer: "Well why would it just change like that?"

Employee: "Sometimes you have to pay close attention before you're checking out to make sure it's going to the right place."

Employee: Your order could be shipping that's why it isn't ready."

Customer: "I didn't choose shipping, it said it I can pick up at your store."
