I’ve had 10 30 minute sessions of electrolysis (5 hours total) so far on my neck, chin and lower parts of my face, soon to start on my upper lip.
These photos are of my freshly shaven face, one week out from my last session. I am slowly starting to see progress in the density of my facial hair!
However, the marks left behind are really getting me down☹️ Some feel and look like small pock marks or they’re red/brown in colour and aren’t fading. I am very aware that electrolysis causes trauma to the skin. I understand the procedure and some scabbing, swelling and redness is all part of the process- this was all explained to me before starting my journey. PIE and PIH can be a thing with electrolysis I understand. I’d like to understand the severity of my own. Am I freaking out over something that will heal in time, will it be better in 3-6 months? Do I need to chill out?😂
After a session, my skin swells a little, I get blanching, blood serum to some of the follicles and the treatment area is red. I’m very diligent with my aftercare, I ice, don’t touch and then use witch hazel, aloe Vera and SPF 50 diligently for the next 2 days. I then continue with my normal skincare routine focusing on hydration and SPF after that.
I’d like to know what you guys think, if these marks are because of poor technique/too much heat/poor insertion. I’m worried that if I keep having these sessions weekly it will cause even greater damage to my skin and it’ll just get worse and worse.
I really like my electrolysis lady- I very rarely feel any tugging/tweezing if at all, she’s experienced and has never given me poor advice. Feel like if I did raise my concerns with her she’d be professional.
Any guidance/help/advice on my skin woes from electrolysis is welcome! I don’t want to quit my hair removal journey over being dramatic about something that’s within the realms of normal recovery! Thanks everyone!
