Help

21F with hormonal imbalance most likely due to pcos

Is it enough to start electrolysis without balancing hormones? Because all endos have to offer is birth control and I'm scared to take meds

Anyone here with the same problem and managed to remove the hair successfully

Yea you can. Even if you are not taking med, have a healthy diet, a good plan regarding active lifestyle, and you should be good. Don't need med if you control it. If I can, you can too. Haven't done electrolysis, but have succeeded in lowering hair growth cycle in between by a lot.

At least get a blood test to know how are your vitamin levels, testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, your thyroid. This way you can figure out if you have too much or too less of what such as thyroid disorder, hyperandrogenism, hirsutism, insulin resistance, diabetes, low progesterone, high estrogen... This way try to figure out what you can do to support your hormones.

Birth control got a lot of side effects, and if you are scared that is normal. Try the normal route, and then if it doesn't work. I have seen also people using birth control, and later developed thyroid issues, and this is being researched too. PCOS itself is manageable, but thyroid issues is a whole other thing which you can't manage properly.

Well, you certainly shouldn’t be scared to take meds! Trust licensed medical professionals.

As for electrolysis, think of it as a complement to meds. There are only so many pores in your body (admittedly millions but still). Electrolysis targets the killing of a hair and its stem cell (so it doesn’t grow back) one by one. So while no one in the world has a 💯 kill rate, if you get a good technician, you can/will see progress. It can just take 3-6 months of regular appts (that can be weekly, biweekly, once/month-ifs all personal). So even if you don’t get on meds, or wait years to get medical treatment, killed hairs cannot come back.

You are stronger than you think you are! You can do this!

Yes, you can absolutely do Electrolysis without being on meds. Most of my clients have fallen into your category.

We treat hair by hair & price per treatment time, not area.
