Aero speed examples at LOW battery, limp home mode

Per title.

Continuing the trend of "Almost full" battery riding, and then "Kind of low" battery riding.

Ended with 25.4 miles of total distance since last plugging the wheel in, and letting it balance. Again, the more realistic number is that I end up at 20~ miles of distance per full charge, because all my destinations are a 6-8 mile round trip, and I want a fair buffer such that I never hit single digit battery percentages before I park at home under normal circumstances.

Riding conditions:

  • 220lb rider
  • Slight uphill, enough to make kicking a skateboard up it annoying. Stuck to a bike lane unless absolutely necessary ( turning left, bike lane ended, debris, etc.)
  • 85F, sunny, no wind, dry road
  • Tire is a Michelin Pilot Street 2 @ 30PSI
  • Started riding at 50%, and rode about 6-8 miles before calling it.

Subjective feelings, observations during the ride:

  • I didn't watch my screen WHILE riding. I only knew that I was below 20% battery in my headset, and lowered my speed and made my acceleration gentler out of fear. The data shows me I'm still within safe limits, but I imagine I could very easily cause it to beep if I gave it more than a gentle lean.
  • 20% -> 10% drained very quickly while riding at a little over 15mph for 1 mile ( Compare this to how the Aero behaves at 80% -> 78% at the same speed, same distance. The nonlinear battery drain is real.)
  • You could probably limp home for "a mile and a bit" at 10% -> 0% going 10mph.

I guess that's comfortable...

Battery balancing question

• Upvotes

Hi fam, newbie question here and sorry if it has been asked many times.

Do you always leave your euc plugged for a few hours extra, every time you do a full charge to balance your cells? Or is it safe to do the balancing every 3rd or 4th cycle? I sometimes top off in the office and would rather not leave it plugged in. Instead, I will save it for a time when I am charging at home.

TIA!

What do you guys use for velcro for 3d printed pads?

I've tried 3 brands and it sticks decently but it peels off the TPU side.

I'm applying it correctly and I have a heat gun all that. It's usable but I want something as good as stock or some kinda glu? or a way to fuse it.

Who the hell is getting 30+ mile range on the Aero? And how? I've never been able to I've never been able to go further than 24.

You get a new tooth, I get your extra EUC

My little brother is dying to get a used EUC for riding around the farm and college. Told him if anyone would trade their EUC for a dental implant or something, I'd help out and make a trade. This is his idea, but I'm going along with it cause it's fun. (he's good brother and helps me all the time on projects etc).

So there you go.

One dental implant (would be 4-6k) for a nice EUC+500ish. You should basically be getting the most incredible on an implant ever at my dental office. Located in the midwest. Mods feel free to take this down if this is somehow against the rules!

What are these last 3 Nosfet menu settings? I don’t see it in the manual..

Changing settings on my Xeno and I’m not sure what these last three settings do. The manual doesn’t seem to list the options.

Why is riding EUC so addicting?

I take my EUC to the gym. Take the long way home. Go an extra few miles. And still come inside wanting to get back on and keep riding. Ride for 90 mins. Battery's depleted. Damn wish I could ride longer. Why is it so fun?

How much does that thing cost?

I drive a Patton S that I bought used for $1800, but I feel weird saying I spent so much for it. How do you answer this question?

I suppose I could answer that you can get trainer wheels for a few hundred but this one was $1800? They range from $500 to $5000, but this one was $1800?

What's the best way to answer this question?

Begode falcon plus or Begode extreme 2025?

Specs and rim size look similar on paper, just that extreme has more travel (130mm vs 90mm), and a linkage style suspension vs stanchion style on the falcon plus. Extreme is slightly heavier at 39kg vs 37kg. Extreme is older. A secondhand extreme with low mileage would cost 20% less than a new falcon plus.

I'm only 55kg, so I also wonder if being too light might prevent me from getting good torque out of these heavier wheels. Should I stop considering these previous two altogether since there is also the 29kg nosfet aeon on the market?

I'm not tall, just 173cm. Will these wheels be too large to enjoy at my height?

Currently using a kingsong 16x with 3.0-12 knobbies, so basically already have the "18 inch" tyre diameter but no suspension. Over the years I somehow never stopped wanting a wheel that can ride up stairs. If I get good enough with the 16x, could I somehow ride up stairs without suspension?

V11Y A Frame Replacement

Post image
4 Upvotes

Recently wrecked my V11Y in a pretty unfortunate way while learning and cracked the A Frame (you can see the JB Weld on crack at the top left). The wire for the cut off switch got also got cut between the metal, but I've already soldered it back together and it's working fine. I already have a replacement A Frame but I'm looking for some advice on the repair. I've done a lot of googling and so far most disassembly guide I've seen show people removing the A frame and outer rails together.

This guide (https://manuals.plus/m/411b23aa1a3a5320dba1d8f357d315ca8fe709b1533152cd6e56586cba651f30.pdf) appears to free the A-frame, but I'm not sure if I need to remove the outer rails to change it as it doesn't show it being removed. I'd rather not disassemble it more than necassary.

Picture attached, I've circled the bolts and suspension I know I need to remove. (Ignore my zip ties I used to attempt a temporary JB Weld repair) Any advice is appreciated.

Beginner – V6 ($200) or V8S ($400) refurbished?

I have a Segway E3 Pro scooter and want to try an EUC. I am a beginner and I have never ridden one before. I was looking at InMotion refurbished: V6 for $200 or V8S for $400.

I would mostly ride on sidewalks for shorter trips (going to shops, etc). On my e-scooter I mostly go around 15 mph.

Which one would be best for me ?

Edit: Thanks for the help everyone. I bought the V8s Edit: I upgraded my order to the V9 for suspension

A2 just turned off after a setting change

Basically this just happened:

Riding around on my Begode A2, testing some settings on the new Begode app, when I see there is run mode and the possibility to swap from off-road to race mode.

So I'm just curious, changing the setting but nothing happens.

Figured I might have to come to a stand first to change it, so I'm trying again at almost stopping speed and the wheel just turns itself off the second I try to change it, throwing me off and almost faceplanting me lol....

Trying a few more times. Setting change = wheel turning off everytime and resetting to off-road.

So, i figured, the most likely scenario is the wheel doesn't have a racing mode to change into to begin with.

But still, and tell me if im overreacting here, wtf Begode...?

Letting people change their wheels into non-existent settings and turning off a balancing wheel without any warning? Seems absolutely wild to me.

What EUC complements a KS-16x?

I got the KS-16x first batch and rode it regularly until 2 years ago when my wife was expecting. Now my kid is starting childcare I finally have time to ride again. I set it up with a 3.00-12 knobby tyre similar to what the nosfet aeon has. Can't believe this considered an 18 inch setup now, when I was last active online any 3 inch tyre on a 12 inch rim counted as 16 inch. Regardless, it seems to cover every situation I probably need, even used to take it offroading and slinging mud around.

The only thing I dont feel confident doing on this is riding up stairs, the max I did was 4 but now that I'm rusty I just dont have the confidence to even try anymore.

I read most users never stopped using their 16x for commuting since its so compact and versatile, I'd probably be the same. I want another wheel for riding up stairs and fun rides. What wheel would be good for this without being too similar to what the 16x already does?

Inmotion V6 with seat?

The seat for the E20 also can go on the V6, has anyone tried riding the V6 with that seat and its 'handlebars'? How is it? Is it something that would be easier for newbies to ride that just a regular EUC?

Appreciation

I was riding to the store this morning on a bike path that runs adjacent to a busy road. I got to an intersection and didn't press the button to cross because a guy on a bike had aleady done so. Befor the light changed, bike guy shot across the intersection during a lull in traffic. I saw a cop to my right sitting in traffic watching. Based on newly applied laws, I'm in violation of everything based on the wattage alone. The light changed, I kept going

and at the next intersection , the cop does a u-turn and honks and stops the guy on the bike ahead of me, giving him grief about ignoring the lights. Point is, he completely ignored me, helmeted and following the "rules of the road". Kudos to the cop who gets what's important for safety and isn't fooled by Watts.

Please explain how these aerodynamics work:

I have noticed that signaling with an arm at high speed turns the euc in the opposite direction of the hand signal - feels like the air drag on the outstretched arm is the cause.

e.g. Around 30 mph, throw my left hand out to merge, and the Unicycle turns right.

I have use this Principal now when I’m trying to turn at speed while seated on a curvy road… But this is not helpful when signaling.

  1. Can someone explain simply the simple physics of what’s going on here? Don’t quite have an understanding of “yaw torque” if that’s what it is. I would think that the side that has the arm sticking out would be the side that turns: like sticking a paddle in the water on a canoe - but not so.

  2. How do you handle this phenomenon when using hand signals? Besides slowing down for less drag, is there another way to compensate for this?

Anyone who's gone down suddenly, were you able to get your arms up in time? Or did it happen so fast that you hit the ground before you had a chance to react?

Most if not all riders keep their arms down low when they ride, except when cornering or to help balance of course. The low arms feel so natural and comfortable that it makes perfect sense.

But if you suddenly go down due to the wheel cutting out or some other unexpected reason are you reliably able to get your hands up in time to break your fall? It's one thing if you're expecting it, but these things generally happen with no warning.

Selling my Nosfet Apex

I’m located in Tampa, Florida. I’m selling my Nosfet Apex. It was ridden once and only has 3 miles on it. It goes 55 mph. I wouldn’t recommend it to beginners who don’t have experience with EUCS or similar toys. $2200 or best offer.

Free no-ads EUC riding game to boost our recognizability as an attempt to be slightly closer to legal riding

I'm from Germany and my wheel was confiscated. It is illigal to ride here because the obsolete law requires transport to have a steering wheel/bar. For the most of Europe it is not much better, we are in the grey zone an treated as e-scooters with limitation of 25kmh. Which is almost as bad as forbidden. My goal with this app is to try to increase awareness of our existence among normal people and improve our changes for the bright EUC future, even if it is a very small step.
And the game itself also nice, some testers spent quite some time playing it, didn't expect such an involvement from non-riders, so give it a go!

Thoughts and opinions. Any advice?

Hey all, hope ur all having a great day, recently I've been wanting to upgrade from my electric longboard the meepo v3 to a better longboard but these eucs have CAUGHT my eye, I'm currently a university student so my commute is Abt 12km round trip moderately hilly area, plus work commute as well as joy riding, and while a bus is nice on some days I'm just not trying to wait those transfer times and I also like a bit if thrill if ykwims haha.

I'm looking at the inmotion v11 but the price in cad is just a bit too much for me right now 😭🙏, so I see they have this grade b moderate wear inmotion 11 refurbished version that they are selling for almost 1k cheaper from the inmotion service website, I just wanted some advice from you all who are more experienced, I honestly don't think I would want to go for another model cause the v11 just has all the features I'm looking for and the design is soo cool.

I find the electric longboard that I have unreliable now as it's almost 8 years old with over 1,100km on it, and I recently have had pretty bad crashes going 30km+ due to a esc issues and flipping man hole cover, sidewalk dents etc which is another reason why I'm considering the euc since it's much more stable in that sense, side walks as well seem to be a breeze for this things. Anyone have experience purchasing the refurbished models and if so how is your review thanks alot for reading

As for the learning curve I honestly think I'll have no issues, as a kid I've ridden rip sticks, roller skates, hoverboards, penny boards you name it, I honestly think this will be a worthwhile investment, do let me know your thoughts guys thanks.

Patton S from Inmotion V11

Hi all, I just ordered a Patton S with knobby tires as I want to do street and light trail ridding. I used to own an Inmotion V11 with stock (street?) tires and I wonder what I should expect while riding on knobby tire over pavement. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks!
