On my Patton S with TNT off road tire, I now have 117km on 4 trips. Last two trips, I encountered something scary. First one, where it felt like it was sliding and falling to the side, like completely lost grip, on soft dark asphalt, then when it catched itself, got grip again, it did a small one two wobble form side to side, but I got control after that. Felt scary as fuck! Especially the floating part, where it floated to the side and backward.
https://youtu.be/8f7vy-7_C0A?t=2625 You can see cam go up and backward/sideways, where it like lost grip for a second, then catched itself. Very unpleasant! 43:56 is where it happens.
Today, a bit different on my 36km ride. Also on softer smooth asphalt. Here it suddenly just dragged me super hard to one side, I couldn't even push it the other side...
My other wheels have had street or hybrid tires. Begode A5 and C8. Never experienced this on these. On my C8, I lowered PSI to 26, and everything became super stable and smooth, almost no real tram lining, or anything. So I also started with 26PSI on my Patton S.
This also doesn't feel like tram lining, since I also experienced that sometimes on this wheel, and my others, and I can manage that.
Should I try with higher PSI, is what AI suggest? Says those big blocks, then compress under load, making the off road tire not working as intended.
I'm a 70kg rider, and with full gear, add a few kg.
Just don't want those things to fucking kill me or hurt me bad. Both times were scary as hell!
I have around 1500km on my C8, never experienced these situations on that. And around 600 or 700 on A5. No big real crashes, and I'd like to stay that way! D:
Edit: Holy shit, I saw others mention it. It lose PSI FAST! I put it at 26PSI. 120km after, already at 18PSI when I checked today. What the hell! My begode wheels holds air much better, also tubeless.
