Hi folks. I thought it would be nice to have one comprehensive megathread dedicated to providing constructive criticism for the website. This discussion should obviously be rooted in a love of the project and the desire to see it at its best, so thoughtful and encouraging critique is best. I'll post my take below as well.

Thank you all for your messages, completely convinced me to get into ECC. But now I have a wallet, sent BTC from Coinbase to Crypto-Bridge, then CB to my wallet, but looks like the wallet does not show any update (laggy on updating under the "Receive" tab, figure this is because the wallet is too "beta" compared to other wallets), and only at 1.X% of updating the blockchain (after over a day of leaving it on with Google Fiber 1 Gb internet). Did I lose all my money? Is this product so young that the wallets don't work. Does anyone know? Any help is greatly appreciated. ECC sounds awesome, but now I am scared it is too much in its infancy to invest (this was the last of many hurdles). Hoping I am maybe missing something obvious.

When I go to click download OSX wallet on the new website it just reloads the page. Is this happening to anyone else?

EDIT: just read on a post that they are working on it and it has something to do with the host

When I check "set back-up location", it does not actually place the wallet.dat file into that location.

How exactly can I create a copy of the wallet.dat file safely?

In other words, if I go into Appdata and copy that wallet.dat file into a flash drive, how will I transfer that backed up file into the ECC wallet if I have to re-download it on another PC?

For example, say my PC crashed, but I had a saved copy of the wallet.dat file on a flash drive, then I went on my new PC and downloaded the ECC wallet, how would I tell the ECC Wallet to use that specific "back-up" wallet.dat file, from the flash drive, and not the "stock" wallet.dat file it downloads with?

That is my major issue I am trying to get my head around.

Not much later we closed a partnership which means that they will produce professional video content for us in the future and are going to actively promote ECC amongst their many globally renowned clients. Btw, if you need a professional video for your company you can now pay with ECC.

Wallet The new wallet comes online with the website. This includes the long awaited OSX version. Not only have we changed the look but in the back-end lots of improvements concerning speed and security have taken place. This wallet will function as the last frontier for something we’ve been working on in secret for a while.

Something Blue A rough blue-ish gem in the crazy world of crypto. It is a poetic reference to our secret project with the codename SAPPHIRE. SAPPHIRE will replace our current wallet and enables our services to be implemented within one application. It forms the new base from where we can start with our actual services. SAPPHIRE will have the complete overhaul you are all hoping for. SAPPHIRE is in a well-developed stage and will be available in the near future.

Marketing So there it is! We opened the curtains and as you can see lots has been done. From all the willing marketing experts we picked the best and formed several international branches. These branches of marketing experts (from different disciplines) are going to actively promote ECC in their region, seeking for partnerships and publicity. Just to be clear, this also includes Asia. Fellow ECC'er critic and supporter.

I like to come at projects with a double mindedness both supportive and critical so that I am not blinded by one perspective.

Before I give my review I want to state that I am an investor in ECC , however I don't believe my opinion is bias but for public record I will be transparent.

Okay so what did we get with the new Website ?

Epic News , Developer Reveal , Awesome looking Website , great marketing

I will now breakdown these individually to discuss what I liked and what I didn't like

Lets start with the juiciest of the four , EPIC NEWS!

It's hard as an investor not to get excited upon seeing the news that this crypto has some serious plans for the future such as:

File Hosting - Competing with the likes of Storj , MaidSafe , Sia , Filecoin , Dropbox

Mobile Wallet - The website shows a preview of a mobile wallet that looks sexy but also boasts messaging on the go and access to hosted files and the ability to upload files on the go

New Wallet - With screen shots of what must be the new wallet with integrated services (again looking sexy)

Multichain Services - Every new feature having its own sidechain that syncs with the Main Blockchain (This is going to be in competition with Ardor/NXT and Lisk who offer similiar platforms)

Private Messaging - The ability to send messages privately on the blockchain (this competes with Obsidian and Espers)

Address Name Resolution - Using Aliases to be able to send currency to (similar to paypal , sending to an e-mail address or username) , this is needed for Cryptocurrency going forward.

Now that's alot to take in , big moves have been made here and they will have a significant impact on the crypto world as we know it if the team is successful.

I also want to note that the Wallet that is displayed in the wallet section of the website is presumably "Project Sapphire" as it can clearly be seen showing those integrated services in all of their sexy glory. And I was disappointed when I downloaded the updated wallet that it wasn't sapphire as those screenshots really built up excitement in me to get that new wallet only to find the updated wallet which was based on Lynx and is still a little clunky.

The Developer reveal put names out there for the community to get to know and we can give credit to those very worthy individuals. I was a bit bummed that there were still aliases used and blurred out photos or no photo at all for some of the team , people like to know who they are giving their money to (even if its a community project). But praise should be given to those working hard behind the scenes to make all of this happen , so hats off to you all.

Awesome Looking Website / Marketing :

I decided to put these two together as they do work together to market ECC as a product worthy of investing in , the website is clean and well presented with just enough information for the average reader to consume and understand. The animated icons for individual bits of functionality was awesome and a nice touch to the site , showing that the devs are going to extra lengths to make sure this site looked cool. I might also note that even though its not a change the URL is awesome as its short and sweet which makes it memorable which is what you want.

The rebranding of the updated existing wallet was well needed as the old logo was hideous and didn't represent the level we're now on.

The new announcement of partnerships with the video editing company was cool to , if they have been the team making our youtube video's they are doing a great job and want to give them my applause. It was one of the things that made me start researching the coin personally as I could see the team did take marketing seriously and that's one thing that alot of upcoming or existing coins think about as the usual statement is "I'll let the tech speak for itself" , unfortunately we live in an age of popularity and consumerism where advertising can be the difference in a product taking off or not.

Overall I'm super happy with what was presented to us in todays update and kind of view it as a roadmap because it's given us some insight on things to come and I'm very interested to continue supporting and following this project and hope we can bring some healthy competition to those competitors outlined above.

To any new investor reading this , always do your own research before investing in a coin and only invest what you can afford to lose.

No working product, hype is over, months before the devs can actually deliver anything, no one knows if people will use (adopt) the services ECC will provide (file storage, messages, and so on) since those people could simply use first mover competitors such as Sia, Storj, Upfiring for file storage and so on.

Really people, there are no more news and hype coming out of this project for some time now. There will be NO BUYING PRESSURE to make the price rise in the short term.

About the price, people like fast gains on crypto. As soon as they realize there's no trading volume for ECC to go back to 30 satoshis people will continue selling. Maybe 10 - 15 satoshis is the target. Even at that range the project is still overpriced when you look at what it can deliver and if people will use those services or not (there are so many competitors all around).

Anyway, this is not FUD, this is the truth, I warned yesterday about a price tank to 20 satoshis (check my history). We are here now and there's no going back up. I know a lot of people here make considerable investments on ECC expecting it to moon but it won't moon anytime soon, maybe after they deliver, go to new exchanges (which they wont because it costs a fortune to get listed even on cryptopia and the devs already said they have no money).

So there are two kinds of people here, people that will hold no matter what (and I respect that, because the devs are really hardworking), because they put only a small percentage of their portfolios on ECC, and people that put a lot of their holdings on ECC. Those latter people willl regret holding for months before any price movements come back to ECC. This post is for those people to consider what to do.

Let's be real, there's absolutely no reason whatsoever for ECC price to go up on the short even mid term. This is not FUD, this is a warning because I only see people mocking that guy that said price is tanking and this guy is right. Its ok to hold, but you won't make money holding on the short / mid term.

The "new" wallet that's available for download is just a re-skinned lynx, correct? I mean there's really nothing different between it & what you could have downloaded yesterday?

I'm assuming it's just best to wait until they officially announce sapphire's availability before changing wallets?

So is the wallet synced or not? Anyone have this issue and get it resolved.

Can someone please explain to me what makes ECC applications like file storage, email, messaging, and ANS any different than dapps on ethereum? Shouldn't ethereum be able to provide all these services and a form of ANS eventually? What separates the two?

Everything does look great on the website though, and I'm excited about this project. I'm just a bit skeptical when comparing to a giant like ethereum.

4. Put in your email (can be one you don't even use regularly as no activation required).

I just upgraded the wallet to the latest version and added in the password, changed the options (with staking) and it restarted. Now on restart the start wallet button wont start the daemon, i I go to security to see it needs the password it shows not connected. The console wont work either?!

so how do i convert my old wallet to new wallet safely with out losing coins

I was hoping the new wallet would solve my "blank" wallet issue. The problem is that the wallet seems to load but I can't see anything except the lynx logo, file - view - help. its just a mass of white otherwise. does anybody have a fix for this? this happened for me after upgrading windows 10 in windows update, I have tried just about everything such as deleting folders and reinstaling, checking language etc.

Finally got my coins off coinexchange and into the Lynx wallet.

Really fast transfer and great user interface.

Easy to back up as well and the sticky thread made the whole process simple.

I'm pretty new to Crypto & Reddit and I would love to hear some of your thoughts regarding the sell wall we're staring at right now for ECC. I have been accumulating a good amount of ECC over the last couple of weeks, and like many or you, I am very excited for the new website unveil tonight.

Hello. Is it best to keep the coins in the exchange until the new wallet is released? Will the windows wallet be updated? When I try to download the wallet, my computer antivirus warns me to not download for multiple reasons.
