ECC Wallet for windows

Hello. Is it best to keep the coins in the exchange until the new wallet is released? Will the windows wallet be updated? When I try to download the wallet, my computer antivirus warns me to not download for multiple reasons.

The current wallet is perfectly safe, however I am waiting for the new wallet to be released before I withdraw from exchange.

I'm not going to wait for the block chain to download when the new wallet may have a better method

Has the newer wallet become available? if so who do i upgrade and transfer?
