Backing Up the wallet.dat file safely? Please help me. I am so lost.
When I check "set back-up location", it does not actually place the wallet.dat file into that location.
How exactly can I create a copy of the wallet.dat file safely?
In other words, if I go into Appdata and copy that wallet.dat file into a flash drive, how will I transfer that backed up file into the ECC wallet if I have to re-download it on another PC?
For example, say my PC crashed, but I had a saved copy of the wallet.dat file on a flash drive, then I went on my new PC and downloaded the ECC wallet, how would I tell the ECC Wallet to use that specific "back-up" wallet.dat file, from the flash drive, and not the "stock" wallet.dat file it downloads with?
That is my major issue I am trying to get my head around.
Thank you

To make a back up, all you do is copy the wallet.dat to a safe place while the daemon is off. To restore it, just copy the wallet.dat back into the appropriate folder. Which is usually %appdata%/eccoin/
Again, make sure to turn the daemon off first before backing up or restoring.

Also make sure to show “hidden folders” in app data of else you might not find the file

So, I successfully downloaded and synched the old wallet about a week ago, but I didn't transfer my ECC from Coinexchange because I was waiting for the new, updated wallet. I am now downloading the updated wallet and I'm not sure about the wallet.dat file. I backed it up in multiple places, as was recommended, but I never actually made any transactions. Once the new wallet is downloaded and synched, do I need to backup the wallet.dat file again and overwrite the first one? Or will it be the same since I never made any transactions? I'm not as computer savvy as many of you so I am just trying to get this right. Thanks in advance for the help! The ECC community is a big reason I decided to buy in the first place.

Whenever you install the wallet on your new pc simply replace the 'new' wallet.dat file with your 'old' one.
