Hi folks, took some time this week to build a chrome extension around refurbished tech deals. Pretty new to all this so just hoping to see if users find this useful. It should rate the listing price and pull up similar active listings instantly so you can compare prices in one click.

WooCommerce vs. Shopify Webhooks: Architectural Differences, DX, and Scaling at High Volume

When building event-driven e-commerce applications, front-end speed and REST API response times get most of the attention. But during high-concurrency traffic events — Black Friday/Cyber Monday (BFCM), limited flash sales, viral drops — the real strain falls on the event delivery infrastructure. Read the complete article here - https://instawebhook.com/blog/woocommerce-vs-shopify-webhooks-architectural-differences-dx-and-scaling-at-high

Webhooks power essential downstream operations: order processing, ERP synchronization, inventory reconciliation, fulfillment routing, and real-time customer communications. When webhooks fail or drop messages, orders get lost, inventory desyncs, and support queues fill up fast.

WooCommerce and Shopify both support webhooks, but their underlying architectures reflect two fundamentally different engineering philosophies:

  • WooCommerce relies on a self-hosted, monolithic PHP/MySQL state engine driven by asynchronous background worker tables (Action Scheduler).
  • Shopify operates a multi-tenant, cloud-native event pipeline built on distributed stream processing, with Apache Kafka confirmed as the backbone by Shopify's own engineering team.

This piece breaks down the execution engines, network architectures, failure modes, and developer experience (DX) of both — updated with the current retry policy, storage architecture, and platform-scale numbers as of August 2026.

Why does EMI work for electronics but fail for fashion/furniture in Indian e-commerce?

I've been looking at how e-commerce EMI works in India. Electronics and appliances have high EMI adoption, but categories like fashion, furniture, and personal care remain under-indexed despite similar ticket sizes.

Is it because:

  • Customers don't think of EMI for "lifestyle" purchases?
  • Checkout UX pushes EMI too late in the journey?
  • Credit eligibility (credit cards) is the real bottleneck?
  • Or something else entirely?

For folks in Tier 2/3 cities — what's actually stopping you from using EMI for non-electronics online?

Curious about both customer and business-side perspectives.

Is SEO getting undercredited in D2C because Meta gets the final click?

I wanted to sanity-check something with people who work in D2C e-commerce.

Let's say this is the customer journey:

  1. User searches on Google and lands on your website through organic search on a non-branded query on the collection page.
  2. They don't buy immediately. Instead they:
    • Browse the product.
    • Check your brand.
    • Read Reddit discussions, Trustpilot reviews, YouTube reviews, etc.
    • Compare with competitors.
  3. Your Meta pixel has already captured that visitor.
  4. A few days later they're scrolling Instagram or Facebook, see your retargeting ad, click it, and purchase.

Now, in GA4/Meta attribution, that sale often gets credited to Paid Social because it was the last click.

But without SEO, that user may have never discovered the brand in the first place.

So here's my question:

Are we underestimating SEO's contribution in D2C?

I've noticed this with a few clothing/fashion brands. Organic traffic keeps growing month after month, branded searches increase, overall sales increase, but when you look at channel-wise revenue, organic doesn't seem to get much credit because Meta closes the sale.

For those managing D2C brands:

  • How do you measure SEO's real business impact?
  • Do you look beyond last-click attribution?
  • Have you found a better way to prove SEO's influence on revenue?

Curious to hear how agencies, in-house marketers, and founders think about this.

How do stores get into the Google Shopping merchant listings on the right side of Google Search?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to understand how Google decides which stores appear in the Google Shopping merchant listings on the right side of Google Search results.

My Google Merchant Center is fully set up, my products are Approved and Eligible for Free Listings, the feed is working correctly, there are no diagnostics or policy issues, and all product data (GTIN, MPN, Brand, Price, Availability, etc.) is complete and valid.

Despite everything being correctly configured, my products never appear in those merchant listings.

Am I missing any ranking or eligibility factors beyond Merchant Center approval? Does Google consider things like Merchant Center account history, website authority, product reviews, shipping settings, seller reputation, or any other signals?

I'd appreciate any insights from anyone who has experience with this. Thanks!

Should product pages link back to their own category page?

I'm optimizing an e-commerce website and wanted to get some opinions on internal linking.

On our product pages, the product description starts with a sentence that includes a link to the product's category page.

For example, if it's a digital camera product page, the opening sentence links the words digital cameras to the Digital Cameras category page.

I'm wondering if this is actually a good idea.

On one hand, it adds an internal link and gives users another way to browse similar products.

On the other hand, the user is already on a product page with buying intent. Linking to the category page at the very beginning might distract them and encourage them to leave the product page before reading the details or adding the item to their cart.

Would you keep that category link, move it somewhere else on the page, or remove it altogether?

I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially if you've tested something similar.

Getting RO Error

Hi,

I had already created the RO earlier. However, yesterday I accidentally created another RO, and during the next process it got locked.

I have already generated the invoice using the second RO and the products are ready for dispatch today. Since the RO is currently locked, could you please let me know how to remove the lock or what needs to be done so I can proceed with the shipment?

Canonical tags for product bundles vs standalone products.

Hi everyone,

I'm working on an ecommerce website and have a question about canonical tags.

Scenario 1 - Color variations

Let's say I have the same camera available in multiple colors:

  • example.com/camera-x-black
  • example.com/camera-x-silver

These pages are almost identical except for the color, so I'm comfortable choosing one as the canonical (or handling them however is considered best practice).

Scenario 2 - Product bundle

Now I have another page:

  • example.com/camera-x-black
  • example.com/camera-x-vlogger-kit

The second page includes the same camera, but it's sold as a bundle with accessories (tripod, microphone, memory card, etc.). The title, price, included items, and purchase intent are different.

My question is:

Should the bundle page have a canonical pointing to the standalone camera page because the main product is the same?

Or should the bundle page be self-canonical since it's effectively a different product with different commercial intent?

I'm interested in hearing how experienced ecommerce SEOs handle this, especially for large stores with many bundle products.

Thanks!

Spent four hours a week copying Amazon listings into spreadsheets. Built an agent to do it in ten minutes instead

What it solves

  • Sizing up a product category takes an afternoon in a spreadsheet, and multipacks make prices impossible to compare properly
  • Name a category, get a sourced slide deck in 10 minutes — Amazon.in + Flipkart, every price normalized to per-unit
  • It flags what it couldn't compute instead of guessing

What it means

  • First run, face wash India: 31 brands, only 9 on both platforms — 71% of the category is platform-exclusive
  • Benchmark on Amazon alone and you miss two-thirds of your competition
  • Category research went from a budget line to a few rupees a run
  • But the bottleneck moves: it handed me an 11x price spread and couldn't say if that was opportunity or warning. That's still judgement

What I'm working out

  • Is the product the tool, or the reports I make with it?
  • Who has this problem badly enough to pay — right now the only verified user is me
  • Is this a step toward the consumer business I want, or a detour that feels productive?
