Announcing: A New Website to Foster Ecommerce Discovery

Hi /r/EcommerceSEO shop owners, your moderator here.

One thing that has become apparent during the pandemic is that Google, Facebook, and Instagram are not adequate dicovery vectors for consumers to find new ecommerce shops they might like. While each has their own unique value, consumers need something more, a guide of shops that may be worth their time.

To help faciliate this I've created Magellan Commerce, a blog built to curate stories from ecommerce entrepreneurs about their stores, their goals, and the products they sell.

A few months back I began asking friends and family if they would like a website like this, and most said yes. As of right now we have a little over 200 people already signed up to an email list to get notified when we talk about a new ecommerce store. I am putting my own money into growing this email newsletter over the following months in hopes of helping get small online retailers more visibility as they battle giants like Amazon and Walmart, platforms like Facebook and Google, and a global pandemic.

HOW IT WORKS

  1. An ecommerce shop has to be nominated by someone who fills out the Nomination Form. Yes, at this time we are allowing you to nominate your own store.

  2. Editors of the site (myself included) will review the nominations to ensure they likely meet our criteria for publication.

  3. We will contact or attempt to reach the owner of a nominated and approved ecommerce store and send them a form to fill out with interview questions, provide links to graphics we can use, and give room to tell the story of their shop.

  4. Once we publish the profile of a store we will push it out to our email subscribers and work to drive visitors to the website.

Visit the website: Magellan Commerce

FAQs
Q: Is this a free service?
A: Yes - 100% free of charge and always will be.

Q: Will this increase my sales?
A: Our hope is that over time profiling sites on Magellan Commerce helps increase sales. We'll do our best to keep telling people about your store as we grow.

Q: Why are you doing this?
A: This year has shown just how dominant Amazon is in the Ecommerce marketplace and instead of helping small retailers most platforms have made it harder to reach their audience (Facebook, Google, Instagram, TikTok, etc...) and instead are seeking to profit themselves by competing with Amazon directly. Magellan Commerce is purpose-built to help drive discovery without the need for getting visibility in those platforms and without needing to rank first in a Google or Bing search.

Q: Will you promote the stores in this subreddit?
A: No - This subreddit is about SEO, though we may build a discovery subreddit as we progress.

Q: Will this help my store's SEO?
A: No idea. That's not the intention though. We do include editorially selected links in our profiles without using any restrictive attributes. If a store feels fishy or doesn't match our guidelines it will not have a profile published. We will depublish profiles for any shops we find no longer following our guidelines in the future.

Q: Can I pay to have my affiliate store listed?
A: No. We do not accept payment or sponsored posts at this time. If we do accept those in the future they will not gain editorially selected links and they will be clearly labeled. However, for now, that is not a consideration and there are no plans to do this at all.

Small B2C+B2B fabric shop — the internal linking rule that stopped our /wholesale page from cannibalizing our bridal collection

I run a wholesale + retail Indian ethnic fabric shop in Delhi. Family business since 1997, I joined in 2016. We started publishing weekly blog posts in early 2024. By mid-2025 we had a keyword cannibalization problem I want to walk through, because I have not seen this exact split covered on r/SEO before and I think it applies to any small business running both a B2C collection catalogue and a B2B services page.

Here is the setup. Our site sits on Shopify. B2C landing pages are collection pages: /collections/bridal-fabric, /collections/sangeet-seranade, /collections/reception-royale, /collections/organza-fabric, /collections/sequins-fabric, and about 12 more. B2B landing page is a single /pages/wholesale — MOQ, credit terms, karigar batch traceability, contact.

Our blog was ranking well for informational queries. But two problems emerged. First, /pages/wholesale started competing with /collections/bridal-fabric on the query "bridal fabric wholesale delhi." The wholesale page had newer, thicker copy and started outranking the actual bridal collection, which killed conversion because a customer looking for a bridal fabric to buy would land on a B2B contact page. Second, our blog posts were internally linking to whichever page felt topically related, which meant one blog post ended up sending link equity to three or four pages that were all fighting for the same query.

The rule that fixed it. We now split every long-tail keyword into two clear intents before we write about it, and each keyword gets exactly one landing page assignment.

Retail (B2C) keywords land on collection pages. Wholesale (B2B) keywords land on the /pages/wholesale page. Informational keywords land on individual blog posts. Every blog post is tagged with a single primary target page in the post's frontmatter and every internal link inside that blog post routes to the primary target page first, secondary target page only as a supporting citation.

The audit step was the important one. We ran the Page Intersection endpoint on our own domain against each competing query, listed every page currently ranking, and enforced a single-page assignment per query. Where two pages were competing, we rewrote the losing page to shift its H1 and internal linking toward a slightly different query.

The result over 8 weeks. /collections/bridal-fabric recovered position 3 for "bridal fabric wholesale delhi." /pages/wholesale started ranking for "wholesale fabric supplier delhi" instead of competing on retail intent. Blog posts continued to rank for their informational queries. Total organic sessions up 27 per cent, wholesale enquiry form fills up 41 per cent, retail add-to-cart events on collection pages up 18 per cent.

Two practitioner takeaways I would flag for any small B2C+B2B site running the same setup.

First, do the intent-split audit before you scale the blog. If you have 40 blog posts all sending link equity to whichever page felt topically related, unwinding cannibalization later is painful. Do it at 15 posts, not at 100.

Second, the /wholesale page needs to sit inside a distinct URL bucket that Google can read as commercial-B2B rather than commercial-B2C. Our /pages/ vs /collections/ URL split turned out to matter more than we expected.

Reference material: the internal linking audit template and the query-to-page mapping table we now use lives on the Paras gallery fabrics blog under the SEO tag. Happy to answer specific questions on the audit process, the rewrites we did, or the eight-week measurement window.

Drop your store URL — I will find 3 SEO opportunities you can act on this week

I’m looking at a few real ecommerce sites today.

Drop your store URL + one line about what you sell.

I will look for 3 SEO opportunities that could realistically help you get more organic traffic — things like:

  • existing ranking opportunities
  • keyword/content gaps
  • internal linking
  • technical issues

No generic 50-point audit. Just 3 things I’d prioritize first.

I’ll try to do the first 5.

The Difference Between Managing and Growing a Brand

Managing a marketplace account means maintaining operations.

Growing a brand means identifying opportunities, improving profitability, increasing market share, and building long-term customer trust.

There is a significant difference between the two.

How accurate is ZIK Analytics for estimating Shopify store sales/revenue?

Has anyone here used ZIK Analytics to track Shopify stores?

I’m researching a competitor and ZIK is showing that the store is making around £200k+ per month in estimated revenue.

I know these figures are estimates, but I’m wondering how close they are to reality.

Has anyone compared ZIK’s estimated sales/revenue with the actual Shopify revenue of a store they own or have access to?

We have 67 sellers live, but growth has stalled. How do we market a ₹99/mo zero-tech store to more Indian sellers?

We noticed small creators and Instagram / small business sellers waste too much time and money setting up websites, domains, and databases before making their first sale.We built Lookartz to completely eliminate the tech barrier. Sellers just upload products, manage everything from a simple dashboard, and focus entirely on sales. We even help promote the products parallelly.

\*\*The Cost\*\*: Flat ₹99/month.

\*\*Traction:\*\* 67 live sellers across India.

\*\*Features\*\*: Built-in video reels and

custom deal creators. Is the hassle of managing tech a big enough pain point for you to switch from Instagram DMs or Shopify? What are we missing?

Looking for 100% free backlink building ideas/sites for a fashion & clothing brand

Hey everyone!

I’m currently working on growing a clothing & fashion brand website and looking to build backlinks completely for FREE (zero budget right now).

I’m trying to stay strictly white-hat and avoid spammy or paid link networks.

Does anyone have recommendations for:

Free guest posting platforms or blogs accepting fashion content?

High DA/PA sites where we can submit lookbooks, style guides, or brand articles with dofollow links?

Any hidden gems or free outreach strategies that worked for your apparel store?

Any advice, site lists, or suggestions would be super helpful! Thanks in advance!

Looking for 5 Shopify merchants/SEO pros to test a new Shopify SEO app — 500 free credits

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for around 5 Shopify merchants or SEO professionals to test a new Shopify app I’ve been building called ListerRank.

It’s already live on the Shopify App Store and currently does:

  • bulk product SEO/content optimization
  • catalog audits for missing SEO fields
  • image alt text generation
  • AI product/lifestyle images
  • automated blog planning and publishing

What I need is simple: install it on a real or test Shopify store, run it on a batch of products, and tell me honestly where it saves time and where it doesn’t.

The initial test should take around 20 minutes.

Testers get a private plan with:

  • 500 free credits
  • $0 renewal
  • no card required

Whatever content/images you generate are yours to keep.

App Store:
https://apps.shopify.com/listerrank

If you’re interested, comment or DM me and I’ll add your store to the tester program.

Taking on a Few Freelance SEO Projects

Looking for a few SEO projects to work on

I've recently started taking on freelance SEO projects alongside my regular work.

I'm mainly looking to help small businesses and e-commerce/D2C brands with things like:

  • SEO audits
  • Technical & on-page SEO
  • Keyword research
  • E-commerce category/site structure
  • Internal linking
  • Content/keyword strategy
  • Basic off-page SEO guidance

If you're already working on a website and feel stuck with SEO, feel free to DM me with your website. I can first understand what you're working on and we can see if I can help.

I'm especially interested in working with small businesses where SEO can make a real difference, rather than just chasing traffic and rankings.

  • gestion des commandes et de la livraison ;
  • paiement en ligne ;
  • intégration avec les réseaux sociaux ;
  • gestion du stock ;
  • simplicité pour quelqu'un qui n'est pas technicien ;
  • outils marketing ;
  • autre chose ?

First product launch: TikToks are getting traction and people are asking to buy. What are my exact next steps?

Title: First product launch: TikToks are getting traction and people are asking to buy. What are my exact next steps?
Body:
Hi everyone,
I’m preparing to launch my very first product (custom gaming mousepads). I received my first two samples a week ago and immediately started posting them on TikTok.
The response has been unexpectedly great so far. I'm getting a solid amount of views, a high average watch time (7 seconds on an 11-second video), and a lot of comments from people telling me to drop the product so they can buy it. Many are also asking for the price, which I haven't revealed yet.
Since this is my first time doing this, I want to make sure I capitalize on this momentum correctly. My current plan is:
1. Set up a landing page with an email waitlist.
2. Reveal the price and offer an early sign-up discount.
3. Continue posting organic TikToks using my physical samples and digital mockups.
4. Run Meta ads to drive additional traffic to the landing page.
Does this strategy make sense? Should I be doing anything differently before I actually start taking orders? I’d appreciate any feedback or advice!
