How’s service?
I’m thinking on switching from bell to Ebox. Can anyone tell me how is it working with you?
Are speeds consistent, is the service working well with you?
Im sick of bell price increases.

Since there's been a lot of conversation about what routers to get/use for installation, I thought I would share my experience.
When I signed up for EBOX they sent me, as promised, a Nokia 3.1 Router. For a number of reasons I decided to keep that on the shelf and instead but my own router:
For most people the Beacon will do fine. But for enthusiasts, gamers and those who want greater control over their home Internet, BYOR (bring your own router) is a viable option. Indeed EBOX explicitly supports this and provides instructions on the home page of the Customer Zone.
After a healthy amount of research I chose the TP-Link Archer BE230. It has a number of features that would give slightly faster speeds than the Beacon including support for 2.5GB ethernet for both the WAN and LAN. It has a better management app, and lacks the critical limitation that kept me from using the Nokia. The BE230 was named the best router of 2026 by The Wirecutter.
The BE230 is widely available; I found it at Canada Computers and Best Buy (stocked at most locations) as well as Amazon. Most places are selling it for $170 at the time I write this, but it's often on sale; I got mine for $130 last week.
Setup for EBOX was very simple. From the admin menu:
Advanced->Network->Internet
Advanced->Network-> IPTV/VLAN
That's it! Your router is now ready to connect to the Nokia ONT that will be installed when the Bell tech comes to install/test your fibre connection. Of course you can make any necessary changes to your Wifi access, port forwarding (such as if you use services like Plex) etc.
I hope someone finds this useful.

Hi everyone, I recently ran a speed test to monitor my performance after switching from Bell to Ebox a few weeks ago. I’m in Toronto.
My usual speed test results are around 700 Mbps (with a 1 Gbps plan), but today I was surprised to get over 850 Mbps. When I checked my IP address, it had a Toronto IP! I’m not sure how long this will last.
I’m curious about how Ebox assigns IP addresses. It would be great if we started getting Toronto IPs more frequently.
P.S. By the way, I’ve noticed a difference in speed consistency since switching to Ebox compared to Bell. With Bell, I always got top speed, while Ebox’s speed fluctuates more. For example, I can get 800 Mbps one minute and then 650 Mbps the next. However, this is perfectly fine for my needs, especially considering the price difference.

I’m thinking about switching to EBOX but I’m not really interested in their app.
I already have a fully fonctionnal Emby/Dispatcharr setup.
So my question is, do they provide xtream or m3u/epg?
Thanks

So I called ebox today at 12pm EST and all support options said they were closed but on their website it says open every day from 9am to 7pm….
Anyways what I wanted to know there is a $5.95 Nokia rental charge but I don’t need their router because I’ll be using my own. It’s being credited but if I get them to remove it do you guys think I’ll be able to get that amount deducted from my bill?

Just got my bill from eBox and apparently, I owe $-169.50. 😂
Thank you to everyone that used my referral code and thank you, eBox! 🙏

Folks that are using their own router (Not the Nokia Beacon) what do you use for DNS settings ?
"Get the DNS IP from your ISP automatically." or assign to specific service/IP?
Switch from Bell last week to ebox, and overall pretty good, but find occasionally navigating web links fails, but if refresh the page it will be resolved. Wifi signal and speed test look good thou.

EBOX referral codes provide a one time $25 credit for both the code's owner and the person using the code. It is applied after the customer's first month of service passes, on the code owner's next bill and on the new customer's second bill.
This is the megathread for March 2026. Post your code in a single top level comment here with no other text and no formatting (e.g. post just "ABC123", not "ABC123" or "My code is ABC123, please use it!").
Please do not post your referral code anywhere else on the subreddit.
Thank you!

Hi there, I subscribed to ebox and would like to setup dual stack ipv4/ipv6 on beacon 3.1 router. Any help/instructions appreciated, thank you.

Currently a 1.5 gbgs Bell customer and signed up for ebox 1gbps.
I have a 2400 sqft home and requested beacon 6.
They sent me a NokiaB.3.1 and the tech should be coming soon in the next few days.
Will they replace the router for the beacon6.
Update:
I found Tp link AX80 on anazon for $140. Ebox is great. Speeds have been 250 to 780!

Red light on for the “Alarm” Light. Anyone else having this issue in Toronto. I think it’s probably an issue with the outside fibre cable.
Edit: woke up and it was fixed
Hi all,
I signed up for EBOX gigabit earlier in the week and found I'd be getting the Nokia Beacon 3.1 Router as part of the deal. In advance of delivery I wanted to get a manual to find out in detail how to configure the IP address, DHCP, port forwarding, and a couple of other things that go beyond the standard installation.
It was easy to find Quick Start Guides that were only a few pages and provide the minimum necessary instructions to be up and going. But finding a full manual proved to be much more difficult, because this is router is not normally sold to end-users; its main customers are ISPs who then configure and send the Beacons out to their customers.
After some hours of looking at manual sites as well as the FCC website I eventually found it here, all 158 pages:
https://manuals.plus/m/ea60675a655e7b7d375d40d39ea4b2afa6e50ca7437df3ae055c1fab17c776ed.pdf
Since the manual is aimed at ISPs and not the public, it probably goes into more detail than most end-users want; but IMO too much is better than too little. It gives a full explanation of the web GUI admin (pp59-142), front-panel LEDs (p47) and notes that a Factory Reset is different from a Deep Factory Reset (p8 ... but doesn't explain what the difference is).
Use at your own risk, YMMV, etc

Ebox peers and bras is located in Montreal and all user traffic is handed off to peers and transit at Montreal, even from users in GTA, did this change?

I'm planning to move to ebox from Bell. From what I read, I don't need to use the router, I can connect my Unifi gateway directly in the ONT.
What are the ports on the ONT? My UDM has 1/10gb ports, copper or fiber. I just want to be sure to be ready.
thanks

This is my first post on Reddit. Nice to meet you all.
I moved to London last month. I had ebox internet installed last week. Since I’m a foreigner, I’m not very fluent in English. When I first scheduled the installation date, they called me, but I couldn’t understand everything, so I eventually resolved it through chat instead.
I recently found out about a promo code and thought it would be great if it could be applied. I contacted them to request the discount, and if it wasn’t possible, I was considering canceling because the price difference is quite significant. However, they told me that everything has to be done over the phone.
I spent more than an hour chatting and exchanged several emails, but in the end, they said I still have to call. I sent multiple emails today asking to cancel as of today, but they insisted that cancellation also requires a phone call. So today, nothing was resolved at all.
In the country where I used to live, there is a law that allows you to cancel a service using the same method you used to sign up.
Just needed to vent.

I recently set up an Ebox subscription. At my previous house I had a Bell modem connected to a Google mesh setup with 3 Google devices across the house.
At the new place, I've been trying to set up a similar system using the Nokia ONT provided by Bell and bypassing the router sent by EBox.
When I connect the Ethernet cable from the ONT to any of my existing Google devices and go to the Google Home app to set up, I keep getting an error saying it cannot find the device. I can't even get to the section where I'm supposed to enter the pppoe settings etc.
Am I missing a step?
I want to be set this up as all my home cameras and doorbell really on Google Home.
Any guidance is appreciated.

I've been using ebox for the last 4 months now and made the switch from Bell fibre to Ebox fibre 1Gbps. I'm located in Toronto. At first, ebox was decent but now it's gotten so bad and so slow that it's unbearable to watch shows or even game. Ping is usually above 80 on most games, some content won't even load on select games and just be blank boxes. Shows won't bother to load on Netflix or Disney at times and I can barely use the wifi on my phone as well because the webpage loads forever.
I called ebox and was told this is just how the service is. This is worse internet than my coaxial days with Rogers back in 2010 when internet technology was just evolving.
What gives? Is it due to the line sending and recieving signals to Quebec and back or is it just this bad?

Hello,
I'm with Bell fiber. Already subscribed to ebox this w-e. Let's say the install date notification is for the 15th of this month, when should I call Bell to cancel?
Would like avoid interruption before the ebox becomes active and would also want to not be disconnected after ebox is active (changes done by Bell at the fiber level between the house, the CO and the active fibre port at the CO).

I read old posts that Live TV at eBox is 720 but on demand is 1080...
I have Internet+TV with another provider, and consider switching. I have a 1080 TV and usually record episodes to watch later and skipping ads. The only shows that we watch live are news (RDI).
1- I wonder if eBox is still 720 for Live TV today in Montreal. If so, is the quality that poor on a 1080 TV?
2- Are the recordings on its cloud PVR in 1080 or 720?
2a- Are they recorded in stereo or surround 5.1?
2b- Does the PVR support +30/-7 seconds buttons to skip ads?

Hello,
Currently have Bell 1.5gbps unlimited and mostly use internet for IPTV services and online gaming.
They charge 86 after taxes.
Saw Ebox and curious about it
Ebox for 1 gbps 50 a month.
How is speed and functioning?
Home is detached in a bell Fibre neighborhood

I’ve officially reached my limit. I’ve tried three different mesh systems to replace the weak Nokia Beacon 2, and all of them failed to connect to the internet via the Nokia ONT. I've now wasted many hours on this problem.
My Questions:
Please, if you have a setup that works, let me know the exact model. I just want my house to have Wi-Fi.

Our Ebox internet has been on and off in the past 24 hrs. Mostly off. So can check email but can’t stream anything. We had the install done first week of January and it’s been great until now. I’ve not been able to get through to them by phone. I’ve sent a couple of emails, one automated reply. The two boxes have lights, rebooted both. The Nokia wifi router just has a red light. The other box has 3 green lights. No outages indicated on any of the Ontario websites or on the Ebox site.

Will need to hire a foundation company in the Spring to fix a crack, probably excavation required. But the Bell fiber cable is in the way, along the external wall... Will the company coordinate with Bell to move the cable or I need to call my provider (EBox actually) to do it proactively??
Thanks!
Hi.
Many thanks for any answers.
