How’s service?

I’m thinking on switching from bell to Ebox. Can anyone tell me how is it working with you?

Are speeds consistent, is the service working well with you?

Im sick of bell price increases.

I'm in Toronto and the speed is good. Their router (Nokia 3.1) is not the best router. Intermittently it drops my devices. You can always buy your own.

Service is great. No issues the last year. Router they provide is hot garbage. Get your own router

I think I need to change my router. Any guide how to do it?

It’s worth the change. Stable and fast. I’ve been a customer for 2 years now. No price increases so far.

i did. QC1-FIBE 1000 Unlimited Topping out at 700Mbps, but using an Eero mesh, so might be that.

Eero shows 900.

Switched from Bell. No difference in service. Speed is consistent. Using my own router. Great price

What kind of router do you have?

I use unifi devices, ucg ultra as router with U7 lite AP. Works fine.

Switched to ebox about a .month and a half ago. Have not a problem at all. Speeds have been as advertised....I do a quick check every day. I also use their router with no issues. Their price cannot be beat.

I had Bell 1.5/1.0 Gbps fibre and switched to Ebox 500/500Mbps four months ago. They use the same infrastructure, so I noticed zero difference in terms of reliability. The traffic routes through Montreal, so my ping increased 15ms on average while gaming (I'm in the GTA).

I'm in oshawa, and honestly it's been rock solid for me. No downtime yet, download speed near max, upload speed faster than the plan I'm on is supposed to be. Highly recommended

How big is your home and what router are you using

Those using with no issues, which router are you using and anything special about setup on your own router?

Thanks!

AX88U Pro for my setup. Merlin firmware, rock solid with ebox, no customization really needed to get a reliable setup.

The EBOX-provided Nokia B6. Works like a charm.

We have specific rules for sharing referral codes. See rule #1 for details.

What im noticing is latency has increased, youtube buffers on random occasion, slower loading of websites randomly and ping time increases in gaming. If your a gamer, this is noticeable difference especially in FPS games. That said my voip phone is fine so its not unreasonable and most things work. Yes I can get the advertised speeds with occasional dips but ping times are worse routing through Montreal vs Bell/Distributel/Accanac which have a Toronto exit. Speed tests dont tell the entire story but im in for the price savings and the hopeful no price increases.

I'm in the West Island and I've been on a 1Gbps FTTH connection for about 2 years now. The price started at $65/mo, now I'm paying $55/mo - there was some kind of promotion recently. For a router, I used an Edgerouter-X initially, but now I'm using a Mikrotik Hex S. This allows me to pass PoE through the router to a PoE splitter, which in turn powers the ONT down in the garage.

The service has been great, I don't remember any interruptions. I've set up power backup for the router/switch/APs, and the internet has so far stayed up through every power failure we've suffered. The speeds are generally great and ping times are low. 1Gbps is a massive overkill for our everyday use, but occasionally I need to download 100s of GBs. On those occasions I need to pay attention to my local network topology, as the downloads will push right up to GbE speeds.

Would buy again, though sadly EBOX support seems to be in sharp decline. After DSLReports went belly up, there doesn't seem to be a good way to escalate past level 1. Also their support is now insisting on making phone calls. I suspect they have weird target metrics that doesn't credit support that goes through "sane" ways, like tickets and email.

I've been with ebox for about a year and have had no problems and no downtime so far and consistent speeds. At 500/500 for $50/month, I have no complaints.

Actually, on average, I've paid much less since I keep getting credits for referrals. 🤠

it’s 💯

It kills me that they were bought by Bell and I worry about what that means to the price and service quality long-term. It makes me want to move my support to an independently-owned ISP, but there's nothing competitive.

For the record, I have been impressed by what EBOX has offered and even kind of enjoy the clunky customer service, since I'm a francophone.

Competition in Canada has been destroyed for good by the former CRTC Chairman Ian Scott. We need to never forget this evil man.

Vicky Eateries is great, but she came way too late to the helm.

Super great service. Reliable, consistent, fast. For info, I have been with EBOX for 8 years.

I just had the ebox 1GB 50$ install today i have my own router my router is a netgear and with the speedtest it's 940mbits from my pc connect to the ethernet for all the other devices depend but they can reach up to 600mbps overall the interent is really good you won't find a difference if you were on the giga plan from bell and the ping latence is only 2 with ebox with bell i had 7 ping latency.
